Chapter Text

"What should we do now?" Egg asked his demonic looking friend.

Arachnid was now dead and with Yungy taking over the caves, Egg was finally free to leave. The angel was extremely happy about being out in the sun once again, letting the breeze blow through his hair and feathers. Egg even let his real eyes open, although he couldn't see too far with them, it was just nice to have light shining in them.

Wemmbu shrugged, yawning and stretching beside the angel, "Probably go back to our last base. Hopefully nobody's ransacked the place."

Wemmbu looked exhausted, having been run ragged by Arachnid's missions and his quest to find all of Egg's ender pearls. Egg was worried about his friend, who seemed to be nearing his limit.

Aaaaaaaaaand… there he goes.

Wemmbu - his instincts finally feeling safe enough for a rest - had collapsed in a puff of purple smoke.

Wemmbu was often confused with a demon hybrid due to the horns on his head and his long tail. But that wasn't true, Wemmbu was actually a blob hybrid - or a Wube, if we're being specific. He didn't like telling people because blobs are often seen as weak like their cousin species, slimes.

When Wemmbu exhausts himself completely, his body will forcibly transform back to its original form.

As Egg searched through the pile of clothes before letting out a soft chuckle as he found what he was looking for. Between the fabric laid a small purple blob that was about the size of Egg's fist. It's tail twitched slightly as it slept, not waking even when Egg picked it up, cradling his friend in gentle hands.

"I should have guessed that this would happen." the angel muttered.

He moved Wemmbu to rest on his shoulder, leaning up against his neck and nuzzling into one of the soft wings that sat behind Egg's ear. Once his cargo was secured, Egg turned to the pile of ripped clothes, deciding that they weren't worth bringing along.

"What should we do now?" Egg asked, knowing Wemmbu wouldn't be able to answer, "Maybe Parrot could help. He's still the king, right?"

No, he was not.

Egg - not up to date on the current political climate of the server - decided to head towards the Northern Council, where he would find the kings throne.

Just not the king he expected.

Egg held his hands up in surrender, "Yo! Yo! Calm down, bro! I come in peace!"

"Get moving," Shoebilly sighed, nudging the angel along, "do you not keep up with current events? Parrot hasn't been king for a few weeks now."

Egg flicked one of his wings at a guard that got too close to the side of his body that hid Wemmbu, "I've been locked up in the caves! I don't know anything that's been happening!"

Saps looked up from where he was lounging on his throne and reading over some paperwork.

He raised an eyebrow at his guard force, "What is this?"

"Apparently, Arachnid is dead. His leverage over Wemmbu has left the caves." Shoebilly explained, pointing to Egg next to him.

Saps set his papers down and sat up, "And where is Wemmbu?!"

It would be very bad if Wemmbu - one of the most powerful people on the server - decided he wanted to take action against Cindercrest.

"Right here." Egg reached up and pulled Wemmbu's blob form into his hand.

Saps blinked at the sight of a little blob.

Oh…

"That's a baby." Saps whispered to himself.

Egg coughed into his free hand to hide a laugh, "He may be young in blob terms, but Wemmbu's not a baby."

"That's Wemmbu?!" Saps gasped, "I thought Wemmbu was a demon!"

"Yeah, most people do." Egg admitted.

Saps stood from his throne and leaned down to inspect the blob. Egg let him, not really wanting to risk his and Wemmbu's lives with so many people around them ready to swing their swords.

"Alright," Saps stood up again, "you two can take shelter here while Wemmbu regains his energy. All that I ask is that Wemmbu stays out of the war completely."

That caught Egg's attention, "Wait, you just don't want Wemmbu involved? What about working for you?"

Saps scoffed, "I'm doing just fine on my own. With Arachnid out of the picture, I can defeat Parrot on my own. Plus, I don't think Wemmbu's going to care about anyone but you when he wakes up. I just want to make sure he doesn't choose a side."

It was smart, Egg thought to himself. Wemmbu could be a very destructive weapon to whoever can gain control over him. But Saps had nothing to control Wemmbu, meaning keeping the purple blob out of the game completely would be the most beneficial for him.

But there was one thing that Egg didn't understand.

"You could capture me right now and use me as leverage over Wemmbu, just like Arachnid did. It would guarantee you the win. So why aren't you hopping onto that opportunity?"

Saps hummed, "I won't lie, I thought about it. But there's a little secret I've been keeping. I'm a blob, just like Wemmbu."

Egg wasn't as surprised as he thought he'd be, "Your instincts are going crazy, aren't they?"

Saps was silent for a moment, staring at Wemmbu with wide eyes, "…Can I hold him?"

Egg and Shoebilly both snorted as the angel passed the little blob over to Saps, "Go for it."

The white haired man squealed a little as the blob was placed into his palm, letting out a faint purr as he just stared. He finally lifted his other hand and gently scratched around the blobs horns with a single finger. Wemmbu's sleeping form let out a little squeak before settling back into Saps' palm.

"Oh, he's gone." Shoebilly commented.

"Yup," Egg chuckled, "I can't wait until Wemmbu's awake for this."

Shoebilly snorted before his gaze snapped over to the side, "Oh shit."

"Saparata."

Saps froze at the sound of a familiar voice, quickly hiding the blob behind his back, "Flux! When did you get here?!"

Flux sighed, pinching his nose, "Why?"

"Why what?" Saps asked innocently.

"Just why." the dark haired man sighed as he walked over.

With the appearance of this new man, Saps' demeanor seemed to take a complete flip. Egg - from the whispers of his old guards - knew that Saps appeared ruthless to his foes. He ruled Cindercrest with an iron fist that destroyed his enemies. But with this man present, things were starting to change in Egg's mind.

"The real leader of Cindercrest, then?" Egg questioned, taking Wemmbu back from Saps and earning himself a whine.

Flux stood next to the white blob hybrid and sighed, "You're the first person outside of Cindercrest to know that, I assume I don't have to tell you what will happen if you spill that information?"

Egg sighed and ran his free hand through his hair, "Yes, you won't have to worry about that."

Saps tugged on Flux's arm, "Be nice, I want to keep them."

Well, damn. Egg and Wemmbu might not be going home.

Flux groaned, "You are so annoying!"

Saps stared at him with wide, golden eyes before Flux finally sighed in defeat, "Fine, you can keep them."

Saps cheered as Egg began to worry about his freedom once again.
