Either Way, We're Good

Summary:

“You two are so cute! Are you a couple?” an employee asked behind them.

Yunah and Minju glanced at each other.

“No, we aren’t actually,” Minju answered.

It was the truth, but why did it sound weird coming out of her mouth? It shouldn’t.. Should it?

Notes:

My beta and I decided to do a challenge where we use a song for the plot, and youtube for the setting, blah blah blah. So, this is it if you can't tell.

Yunah: Either way - Ive.

Minju: Kingston - Faye Webster.

Kind of think of this, as their personalities, or their vibe.

(See the end of the work for more notes.)

Chapter Text

Some used to say that Yunah was too full of herself. That she was just funny for other people to like her. And, yeah. That was partly true, in a way. Yunah was being funny on purpose, and was doing it for other people, but that was also for herself.

People thought she was too kind-like a fool. A foolish lover, if you will. Maybe that part was just for Minju, though. Yunah was always kind and sweet to Minju-even if she didn’t accept Yunah’s compliments and praises. Minju always thought Yunah spurring those sweet words was adorable. Of course, Yunah knew that, and spurred even more.

Yunah didn’t understand why Minju didn’t accept the compliments. Minju was allowed to compliment  her as much as she wanted, and Yunah would accept it and throw some back at her, but she always brushed them off, ignoring them, even. It was confusing. Why wouldn’t she just let her love her?

Well, all people love differently.

Yunah was a people pleaser. Maybe just a Minju pleaser, though. That might be why they were out shopping, by Minju’s request like a month ago. The reason they got to it a month later was because they were starting their tour, and promotions were crazy, to say the least.

In Japan, Yunah thought it was a perfect time to go shopping, and dragged Minju out of the hotel to go shopping somewhere in Shibuya. Why Shibuya? Who knows…

They walked down the streets, sunset coming in, vibrant lights everywhere they looked. “I like more intimate places,” Yunah realized verbally. The bustling crowds of people rushing around them were definitely not calming like she wanted it to be.

“Me too,” Minju replied, pulling her cap down further over her face.

It went silent for a moment, just them trying to get through the busy streets.

Yunah grabbed the latter’s hand, pulling her to the side of the street, into a clothing shop.

“Thrift shop?”

“Mhm,” Yunah hummed.  “I wonder what Japan's thrift will give us.”

“It looks cool so far,” Minju stated, looping her arm into Yunah’s.

“Yeah, look at this,” Yunah said, grabbing a shirt from the rack. It was a multi-colored t-shirt with a cat design on it. “It’s cool, right?”

“Uh. Yeah,” Minju sarcastically agreed.

“It looks like a hippie would wear it,” Yunah stated, smiling at Minju, trying to hold back her laughter.

Minju giggled, gazing back over at the clothes. Yunah put the shirt back on the rack.

“You two are so cute! Are you a couple?” an employee asked behind them.

Yunah and Minju glanced at each other.

“No, we aren’t actually,” Minju answered.

It was the truth, but why did it sound weird coming out of her mouth? It shouldn’t.. Should it?

“Oh, but you look like one! Are you lying?” the lady chuckled.

The girls both laughed awkwardly, trying to translate what she said in their heads. It was a bit tricky, but Iroha and Moka trained them for awkward situations like this-and their teachers, but whatever.

“Ah, anyways, have a good time. Tell me if you need any help finding something.” The lady walked away to the other end of the store, talking to another customer.

“Well..” Yunah muttered.

“You know this has happened way too much,” Minju stated.

“Exactly. Maybe we should talk about that-”

“No. Let’s shop. We can talk about this afterwards, alright?”

“Okay..” Yunah mumbled under her breath.

They walked around for a bit, arms still looped, though they let go a few times to pick up a pair of pants or two, maybe a hat or something. It had ended up being a great shop, but they had a little trouble with their Japanese when the store owner came to greet them. Or harass them…Yunah didn’t know what that was.

It was dark out when they left the store, the cool night air felt nice. The traffic had also cooled down due to how late it was-it wasn’t too late that they would get in trouble by their manager, but just around the time they should be heading back.

Yunah carried their bags on one arm, swinging them around as she walked. They crossed the street, stepping onto a quieter sidewalk.

“This was fun,” Minju stated, rubbing Yunah’s arm.

“Mm, it was. Everything there was so cute.”

“Thanks for paying,” Minju said, glancing over at the girl beside her.

Yunah looked over at her, smiling softly.

“Should we get picked up?” Yunah asked.

“Yes, please.”

Yunah liked being an extrovert, and liked how Minju was an introvert.  Yunah thought that they fit together well.

After a call from their manager, they eventually got picked up, and ended up at the dorms.

“Is Roha here?” Yunah asked as she kicked her shoes off at the door.

“I just got home with you, how would I know?”

“Oh, right.”

“I think I’m gonna take a shower,” Minju stated, pointing to the bathroom with her thumb.

“Oh, yeah, okay,” Yunah said.

Right when Minju got to the bathroom door, Yunah called out, “Um, I have a question, though.”

“Hm?” Minju hummed.

“Um. Do you like me?”

“You’re so dumb,” stated Minju, a blissful smile on her face.

“What?” Yunah breathed.

“Do you think I do?”

“Uh-I don’t-I don’t know.”

“I’m gonna shower, and when I’m out you can tell me your answer, okay?”

Yunah nodded, lost.

The door clicked behind Minju, leaving Yunah standing in the kitchen, bags still on her arm

(´・ω・`)?

Yunah heard the shower cut off, and the bathroom door click open. Yunah sat up from her position on the bed, a little scared for what was to come. But, she had her answer ready.

Minju passed Yunah’s room, straight into her room. “Minju?” Yunah called, standing in her doorframe, watching Minju’s door close shut.

Did she forget…?

“I’m changing!” Minju exclaimed from her room, muffled.

“Ohhhhh.”

Yunah laid in her bed once again, playing with a squishy in her hand, squeezing it, passing it to the other hand when Minju came in, unannounced. Though, her door was open anyway. Minju closed the door behind her with a soft click. She made her way towards Yunah, and kneeled down at the top of the bed where Yunah’s head laid.

Yunah tried to sit up, but Minju pushed her back down with a hand on her stomach. “Do you have your answer?” Minju asked, eyes staring daggers into Yunah’s. The latter did, and wanted to answer, but she couldn’t focus with the hand holding her down. “Uh-y-n-m,” Yunah stutterred.

“What?”

“I-yes, the answer is yes, I mean.” Yunah turned her head away, trying to sit up again, trying to slip away from the awkward situation. Though, she caused it. The awkward situation was her fault, and, to be honest, it wasn’t even awkward! It was just weird for her because she was shy and nervous.

Minju pushed her back down and asked, “You do think I like you?” Yunah nodded, lips parted. “Use your words,” Minju demanded. “I do think you like me,” the latter obeyed. “But, do you actually?” she asked.

“Mhm, I do,” Minju answered. Woah..

Minju leaned forward, lips hovering in front of Yunah’s. “May I?” Minju asked.

“You’re so formal,” Yunah teased.

“Yes or no-”

“Yes, please.”

Their lips met for a brief moment before Minju pulled back, not too far. Yunah looked her in her eyes, holding eye contact.

“Hm?”

“No more?”

“Mhm.”

“What does that even mean-”

Minju pushed Yunah back, and climbed into the bed next to her.

It was silent for a while, just them laying there. Yunah figured that neither of them knew what to say, so they just kept their mouths shut.

Yunah laid on her back, arms by her sides, while Minju laid on her side, faced away from Yunah. She was curled up into a little ball, arms tucked in, along with her legs.

“Are you cold..?” Yunah asked, turning to her side. She stared at Minju’s back, because, well, it was all she could see.

“No,” Minju answered, though she tucked in even tighter after she said that.

Yunah let a beat pass before saying, “Baby,”  that’s what Yunah called her. “I love you,” she purred as she brushed her fingers through Minju’s wet hair. It was still soft, and smooth. It smelt nice, too. But Yunah's comment was out of the blue, even if she meant it. Minju knew she meant it, too.

“What are we?” Yunah asked.

“Anything you want us to be,” Minju answered smoothly.

“So. What if I wanted us to not be together? You would just… allow that?”

“If it’s what you want, then I’m fine with it.”

"But do you love me back?"

"I do," Minju answered.

"Then say it. I need it verbally, Minju," Yunah demanded.

"I love you."

...

...

"Oh my god, I'm so in love. I love you so much-"

"Yes, yes, okay. I know. Can we go to bed now? If Iroha comes in and sees us all cuddly, we'll never hear the end of it, will we."
