Work Text:

Atsumu loved his boyfriend.

Loved his cute little moles, his curls and the way he would pout when he didn't get his way.

Atsumu spoiled Kiyoomi rotten all the time.

His baby deserved it. Every kiss, every cuddle, every compliment and every single drop of love Atsumu had to give.

Due to both their busy schedules, the time they have is limited, so they always make the most of it when they get the chance.

Atsumu and Kiyoomi were on the couch in the Msby sharehouse lounge, a movie flicking across the screen of the tv.

The rest of the team had fled to their respective homes, also taking the opportunity of a few days off, so he and Kiyoomi had the place to themselves.

Kiyoomi was curled up against Atsumu's side, feet tucked up beside him as he subconsciously nibbled on the sleeve of his hoodie, (well Atsumu's hoodie) a habit he picked up because of his anxiety, dark eyes focused on the screen.

He was more engrossed in it than Atsumu was.

The setter had learned early on that Kiyoomi was an absolute sucker for k-dramas and cheesy rom-coms, much unlike himself who never really had the time to watch anything but volleyball games to analyse opponents.

Right now, the only thing he had eyes for was Kiyoomi. Face lit by the soft glow of the tv, eyes glistening with unshed tears as heartbreak played across the screen.

Kiyoomi must have noticed him staring because he immediately scowled at him, about as intimidating as a kitten, before sniffling and grumbling.

"What? It's sad."

Atsumu blinked then laughed, pulling Kiyoomi into him with a hand around his shoulders, kissing his forehead.

"Aww, I know, Baby," he said, fondly, peppering kisses all over Kiyoomi's face. He was doing that a lot lately. Kiyoomi had been under tons of stress because of his seemingly never-ending bouts of homework (college was NO joke, Atsumu was glad he wasn't the punch line). So he had gotten into the habit of showering his boyfriend with affection.

Now that he had gotten his lips on Kiyoomi, he found that he couldn't stop.

"Ugh-Atsu-Atsumu!" Kiyoomi protested, but his attempts at pushing Atsumu off were feeble, so of course, Atsumu kept going. The tip of Kiyoomi's nose, both cheeks, the two moles above his eyebrow, his mouth: one, two, three pecks.

By this point he had turned to face Kiyoomi completely, his arms shifted to wrap around Kiyoomi's waist, as he squirmed half-heartedly.

"Yeah?" Atsumu asked, smiling at the pout he received. He leaned in, pressing his lips against endlessly soft ones.

"What is it, Baby?" he murmured against them.

Kiyoomi tried to turn his head side-ways as Atsumu kissed him, eyes locked to the screen but not as strongly as Atsumu's lips were locked with his.

"Atsumuuuuu," Kiyoomi whined against his lips, "I'm trying to watch the movie."

He gasped as Atsumu suddenly hauled him onto his lap, before eventually giving up, melting into a sigh as he threaded long fingers through Atsumu's hair. It was blissful warmth for a few seconds, their lips moving against each other like it was muscle memory (it was). Atsumu's heart was soaring.. He poured every ounce of love he had into the kiss, squeezing Kiyoomi tight against him.

Then when they finally pulled apart, Atsumu engrossed himself in Kiyoomi once again. His pale skin was flushed, chest rising and falling and he had the pout back on his lips and Atsumu had the urge to swoop forward and kiss him once more.

Dark eyes locked with brown and it was intimate for a moment. Just holding each other, looking at each other. Atsumu's hand cupped Kiyoomi's cheek, stroking at ridiculously smooth skin with his thumb before letting it ghost over the bow of Kiyoomi's lips.

Sweet sweet intimacy.

Until Kiyoomi bit his thumb.

Atsumu yelped.

"Omi!"

Kiyoomi burst out laughing only to yelp as Astumu shoved hands up the hoodie and began mercilessly tickling Kiyoomi's waist in retaliation.
He was a shrieking mess in seconds, desperately trying to wriggle his way off Atsumu's lap, shoving at his hands and only succeeding in making himself fall back against the couch. Atsumu climbed over him, still not relenting even as Kiyoomi gasped for breath and kicked at him, begging through uncontrollable laughter.

The movie was forgotten, a distant background noise as Atsumu focused on Kiyoomi, Kiyoomi, Kiyoomi.

The way his curls splayed out around his head like a halo, his eyes teary and cheeks flushed pinker from all the tickling; the twitching of his nose as he giggled, the way Atsumu's hoodie was a little short on him but still sagged at the shoulders and drifted at the waist in a way which made Kiyoomi look like the cutest little thing and made Atsumu want to consume him whole.

But most beautiful of all, Kiyoomi's smile. Perfect, white teeth shown off in a grin somehow wide and coy. Atsumu took great pleasure in bringing this side of Kiyoomi out. No one else could see this side except him.

"Atsumu?"

Atsumu blinked at the soft call of his name, Kiyoomi's big, doe-like eyes staring at him and, god this was never going to end.

He kissed Kiyoomi and it set him off to giggling again. The nasally but damningly adorable little giggles which sent Atsumu feral. He attacked the long column of Kiyoomi's neck next and relished as Kiyoomi turned into a puddle in his arms.

Atsumu groaned and buried his face in Kiyoomi's chest.

"You're so goddamn cute."

"Shut up."

They lay there like that for a few moments, Kiyoomi's heartbeat thrumming steadily in Atsumu's ear. Then he heard a wet sniffle.

Atsumu's head snapped up to see tears already smeared against Kiyoomi's cheeks. His attention only seemed to make it worse as Kiyoomi's lip trembled and he turned away before sobbing.

"Woah, woah, woah-hey, Baby? What's wrong?"

Atsumu cupped his boyfriend's face, frowning at the distress twisting delicate features. Kiyoomi only hiccuped in response, long arms winding around Atsumu's neck as Kiyoomi buried himself in Atsumu's shoulder. The blonde's hands instead went to support Kiyoomi's upper back, holding the trembling body against him as his mind desperately searched for answers.

Why was Kiyoomi crying?

Had someone hurt him?

Had /he/ hurt him?

Kiyoomi blubbered something into Atsumu's T-shirt, losing his breath and going back to gasping through his tears. Atsumu hushed him, running his palms down Kiyoomi's spine in a rhythm he hoped was soothing, choosing to ignore how prominent Kiyoomi's vertebrae felt through the hoodie. He eventually let one travel up to cradle the back of a head of curls, pulling it away from his shoulder to gaze at a tear-stained face.

Atsumu's heart broke.

"Hey," he murmured softly, "c'mon, talk to me, Sweetheart. What's got you so worked up, huh?"

Kiyoomi leaned into the touch, not unlike a cat, and sighed. His eye lids drooped, lashes spiked with tears. He seemed almost guilty.

"Sorry..." He croaked.

Atsumu blinked, brows furrowing even further.

"What're you apologizin' for, Omi?"

"I-" Kiyoomi's eyes filled again, "...it's stupid."

"Nothin's ever stupid with you, Baby." Atsumu cupped Kiyoomi's face again, placing the lightest of kisses against his nose as he reassured him. "Tell me, Darlin', we'll work it out together."

"...I'm just- really stressed about exams."

Ah.

The admission came whispered and almost meek in its delivery. Atsumu held his boyfriend closer.

"Oh, Baby..."

"I don't- I just-" Atsumu could feel Kiyoomi's brows pull into a scowl at his own inability to form a sentence and had to stop himself from smiling, "I don't know, Atsumu. I feel like none of the revision I've been doing is enough and it's already deep into exam season and they've been piling up other work along with that and I don't know if I can keep up."

There was a pause as Kiyoomi caught his breath again, and this time he sounded even more miserable.

"And now I'm with you and I'm so happy and I can just forget about everything but it all came rushing back just now and I can't stop thinking-" Another shaky breath "-what if I fail all my essays and exams and kick me out and I have to go to a different university where I can't be near y-you anymore a-and we might never see eachother ag-gain becaus-cuz..."

"Woah, Baby!" Atsumu cut in as Kiyoomi dissolved into tears in his arms once more. "That's alot of thinkin' you're doin' in that beauitful head of yers. And all fer what, huh?" He tilts Kiyoomi's head up and kisses him,, bony hands scrambling to lock behind his neck.

'You know you'll never get rid of me right' sat unspoken behind Atsumu's lips but he felt no need to release the words as his beloved relaxes in his ams.

"Alright, Omi, let's head to my room and sort this out, yeah?"

He felt a small nod against his chest and moved to get up off the couch, managing to take Kiyoomi with him. There was a small squeak as he hoisted Kiyoomi up properly into his arms, but that was all as long legs wrapped around his waist and soft curls tickled his neck.

Atsumu tried not to think about how light Kiyoomi felt compared to the last time they met up, how his thighs seemed a tad thinner beneath his shorts, how his cheeks seemed slightly hollowed. That would be a different discussion for later. For now, his only aim was to calm his baby down.

"Atsu...what about the movie?"

"It's fine, Omi, the credits are the best part anyways."

Ironic since they were walking away but Kiyoomi was probably too tired to remark on it and went back to being limp in Atsumu's arms.

"Oh, my poor baby," Atsumu cooed as he laid Kiyoomi on his bed and went to lie with him, pulling him into his chest. Kiyoomi snuggled in immediately, fists curling in the front of Atsumu's shirt. Atsumu stroked a hand down Kiyoomi's back like before, waiting for every tightly coiled spring beneath all the exterior to loosen out.

He would take care of Kiyoomi for as long as he needed. And of course make sure Kiyoomi was taking care of himself.

"Say, Kiyoomi." He hummed.

"Have ya been eatin' properly, Sweetheart?"

The subtle stiffen in Kiyoomi's back was all the answer needed.

"Oh, Baby."
