Chapter Text
I was at school when I got the news. My parents and little sister had gotten into a car crash, I was in the middle of taking a huge test, a test technically for 12 grade even though I was only a Freshman, my parents had pulled my sister out of school, to go shopping for our upcoming vacation during winter break. They were all dead by the time any ambulances got to the crash. I finished my test not even finishing, even though I had never not finished a test.
When I got called to the office after the test I somehow knew what was happening. Bad thing about having about a 200 IQ, and a photographic memory, was I knew what was going to happen usually before it actually did happen. ACS was their to pick me up and place me in an emergency foster home for the night, I had no other family or I would be placed with them. One of the social workers drove me to my house, or what was my house, and helped me pick up clothes and whatever else I would need. I grabbed the necessities, toothbrush, hairbrush, clothes, and of course Ella, My blue elephant with a Hawaiian shirt on.
It took about 3 hours to get to the foster families house. It was explained to that they worked at a animal rehibition facility that they owned, and were quite rich, and a bit famous. They had a daughter that died about 5 years ago, she was my age when she died.
As we pulled up, I noticed how huge the house was, though compared to the neighbors, the house was modest, to oneside, there was a house at least 8 stories tall, and on the other side was a huge mansion backed up to woods. I got my stuff and walked up to the door with the social worker. A beautiful woman with amber hair, and blue eyes answered along with a man who looked like a cross between James Bond and Robin hood with blond hair and a similar darker shade of blue eyes. The woman who was called Edaline, pulled me into a hug, a very tight hug. Suddenly the man, Grady, laughed, "Eda, you might want to let her breath sometime." As Edaline let go, I also laughed even though I wasn't really in the mood, "Your right, it is nice to breath again." Both of my new parents laughed with me. The social worker said her good byes and left. It got sort of awkward.
Edaline softly said, "Sophie, why don't you let Grady take your things up to your room, and I can take you on a quick tour? After the tour I can make dinner, and I actually just made mallowmelt." (A/N: It's sad that my computer auto corrected Mallowmelt) I looked at Edaline confused. She gasped and faked looked mortified, while Grady asked disbelievingly, "You've never heard of Mallowmelt?" I shook my head, "Well we need to change that." Grady said.
Grady picked up my stuff and went up a stair case.
As Edaline showed me around I realized How easily my mind began to remember the layout, and somehow, even though I had been there less than 15 minutes, I felt so safe, and welcomed. suddenly Edaline whistled, and a black-lab German Shepard mix came running, "This is Verdi, she's the family dog, just so you know. Also is it okay if she sleeps with you some nights?" I nodded yes.
Soon the tour was over and dinner was this amazing, it was amazing soup Edaline called Starflower stew, We had a nice conversation about the people who lived around here, the houses on either side had kids around my age or a bit older and how Edaline had a nephew, Dex, since this would be a long term thing until I was adopted. As we finished up we heard a knock from the door, I looked at Edaline and Grady, they both got up and walked to the door. I heard a couple of voices, some happy squealing and a few questions, then Edaline yelling, "Sophie, the kids from next door want to meet you."
I groaned inwardly and walked to the door. I suddenly felt myself staring. It was two boys and a girl. The girl had long Brown Hair down to her waist, and bright teal eyes, one of the boys, who I assumed was her older brother had the same eyes and hair. While the second boy had, blond hair, that was styled so that it looked slightly like a rats nest (A/N already sounding like you future boyfriend before meeting him), with light ice blue eyes. I thought to myself, what is the deal with the blue eyes, and why is everyone so pretty? I walked forward another step, and tripped. Just before I hot the ground I felt arms grab me, I blushed bright red, the blond Boy caught me. "I know we just met, but seriously, are you already falling for me?" He said it with a smirk like it was the funniest thing ever, I just let my emotion run out of my eyes and glared at him. The other boy laughed, " I'm so sorry for Keefe, he always tell that bad of jokes." Keefe stuck his tongue out at him. "My name is Fitz and my sister is Biana. Also that might have been the best glare ever." Suddenly Biana cut him off, "OMG, you are so pretty. Are your eyes normally like that? With the brown and gold, or are they contacts?"
I didn't believe her, I wasn't that pretty, but coming from her I blushed again and replied, " No they are just my eyes." We just stood there, our conversation just sort of spreading everywhere, and when I got to the part about school and mentioned when I'D be starting school, Everyone looked happy an smiled and asked for my number and we exchanged numbers. After that I said I should probably be getting to bed soon. They all frowned slightly, but said goodbye. I was showed where my room was, and It was huge.
The rest of the weekend mostly was filled with me getting used to living with Edaline and Grady. As I woke up on Monday morning, quickly got dressed, in all black and grey, simple but also slightly cute, the fact that my family was dead, had hit me right after Biana, Fitz, and Keefe had left.
I met Dex when he walked up to our house, once again, he had blue eyes, but with strawberry blond hair, he was nice with the way he kept fidgeting he probably had adhd or something. We walked up to the bus stop. As I walked with him I tripped and fell again, this time right as the bus showed up, why was it this cold in Sacramento, CA you ask? Well I don't know. I noticed everyone was looking at me, some boys were slightly ogling, others were laughing, while most girls were straight out glaring, as I walked again, this time someone tripped me. Thankfully I was used to it, and caught myself this time and turned around, but no one was there.
I heard someone snicker but I didn't see anyone, As we pulled up to school it was huge. Dex directed me towards the office to meet my guide, and get my schedule. As we walked into the office, I felt my clumsiness kick in, and I tripped over my own feet. I felt someone catch me, when I got my balance, I looked up, and looked into the most beautiful, sliver, blue eyes ever.
