There are many types of key and for even more reasons. Amidst the newest wave of hopeful academics at The Studium, rumours have quickly spread that the forbidden archives hold records of an aetheric skeleton key. Their personal reasons for seeking out such a key matter not, as the widespread individual studies now posed the threat of any student succeeding in the rediscovery of the resources and operations required to create their own aetheric skeleton key -or worse, the discovery of a new methodology. As such, all faculty - past, present, and part-time - have been instructed to deter students who come for their opinion on any matters that may pertain to the creation of such a key.
Some faculty require an in-depth debrief of the knowledge the students seek and the study it is to be put towards. Others have simply been denying aid outside of the classrooms.
Kamui Gaeric, Warrior of Light, Scion of the Seventh Dawn, reviver of two arcane arts, Eorzea's favourite librarian, Archon, and guest lecturer of The Studium, has instead opted to steer students (who took great pains to locate him) towards subjects of study exponentially more niche and tailored to their individual passions... The fact that he also ensures said subjects are still able to cause much grief to The Studium's faculty should the student choose to pursue it in earnest is just an added bonus.
He does however also make a note to warn Y'shtola that they may not be able to use their aetheric keys in Old Sharlayan until the students fixation on the matter has died down.
