Floral cup
She stared at the girl’s hair.
Strait yet unruly.
Her unblemished cheek.
And her blemished one.
She knew that scar was only skin deep.
The real scars were within.
Despite her small tremble, she admired this girl.
Who like her had been in darkness.
Who like her had climbed her way out.
Using only her own strength.
And for the first time she felt.
That there was somebody she could connect to.
Broken cup
They stared at her long strait hair.
As she gently brought the cup to her lips.
They stared at her perfect lips and face.
No scar marked this strait body.
And yet they somehow both new.
That her scars were deep.
One side trembled under her poise.
The other laughed, reveling in it.
They felt they had gained something they had never had.
Someone to understand them.
