Chapter Text
“Alright dudes, I think the world conference can now convene!!” Alfred yelled across the room. While he had absolutely no volume control on good days, this must have been an especially bad day for him, because his voice seemed a bit weaker than usual. Maybe it was his pounding headache. Maybe it was the way the ac in the room had suddenly and mysteriously switched off completely. Maybe it was radiation poisoning.
His country had been stocking up fission bombs lately, as well as heat seeing missiles, nuclear warheads, ballistic missiles…. To be honest it made Alfred's head spin. His head spun anyway though. Hey, if he was immortal what would radiation exposure do to him? There was probably an answer, one he knew, actually, but he couldn’t quite think of it right now.
“America? What are you waiting for?” Germany huffed. Oh yeah, he had to talk and think at the same time. Weird. He could usually do that, even on bad days. “Uh. I was thinking.” England snorted “That’s a first.” Alfred tried to come up with something snide to say back but he couldn’t think of anything. Using his brain hurt right now. “Uh, America-san?” Japan looked at him. Alfred’s stomach rolled and he rubbed his aching temples. The world seemed to pause while all it’s occupants seemed to speed up. He turned to look at Japan, when a seismic wave of nausea hit him.
Kiku looked at America concernedly, he wasn’t exactly use to his blue eyes being dim and his mouth being both empty of words or food, or both usually. Then Alfred fell forward, vomited into Kiku’s lap and passed out dead cold on the floor.
What. What the fuck. An uproar was heard around the table but Kiku was absolutely frozen. What does one even do in that type of situation? Maybe there was something in the air dulling his reaction time or rational senses or something. Probably just the smell of stomach acid and what looked like the Egg-McMuffin Kiku had seen on advertisements everywhere here.

“Urghh….” Alfred’s eyes cracked open.
Hazy shadowy blobs were stood above Alfred. One of them poked the side of his head with the toe of it’s boot. It did not help his headache. Alfred closed his eyes again, the artificial lighting directly above his head making his eyes strain and his head hurt. One of the blobs shook him, which also did nothing to make him feel better. He rolled his head to the side and groaned.
“H…Hey! Wake up!” another of the blobs poured freezing water on his head.
“What..”
“C’mon man, wake up!” The blob focused a bit. Was he having an out of body experience or something? The thing looked a lot like him! Except that it was a whole lot skinner, and it’s hair was curlier. “Ugh… who are you..?” Alfred croaked out. “I’m Canada.” The now identified Canada said. “Wait. Matt! Hey man.” Matthew perked up. “Do you remember where you are?” Hell probably.
Alfred had thought about Heaven and Hell and where the humans around him went when they inevitably shriveled up and died. Alfred wasn’t sure where he stood on the whole naughty-nice list or whatever it was that decided where you went but he was not confident that his charming and boyish personality had gotten him any good graces. But why was Matthew here? He was nice. Boring even. If this was Hell maybe it wasn’t so bad, if he had his brother with him at least.
“Al?”
“Uh yeah. Hell? Sorry man, didn’t mean to drag you down with me, heh…” he heard laughter around him. “So I guess not?” More faces and their identifiable features came into focus. Short hair with a large build, brown hair with a comically long ahoge, militarily cut blonde hair and piercing blue eyes, navy blue outfit and shoulder-length hair… oh yeah, he knew where he was now.
Alfred tried to sit up, but the balls of his hands slipped and he hit his head against the floor, which made him cry out in pain, the world spinning in circles again, lights popping in front of his face.
