Bruce leaned back into his seat feeling as if the car could eat him whole at that exact moment, his brain thinking a million thoughts at once. What could I have done better? Was it really my fault? Why do I always ruin things like this? His head pressed against the window as he sighed, only being pulled out of his train of thought by a familiar voice.

“Sir, remember if you need anything at all to call me.” Alfred said in the limo as he pulled onto the driveway of the large building. “Please Alfred it's not like I'm going to war” Bruce groaned as he looked up at the college building in front of him, he sighed as he put his sunglasses on while gathering all of his carry on bags. He insisted on carrying all of his things to better “fit in” as he put it when Alfred asked if he could take his things for him.

From just looking through the tainted glasses he could see the people he would regretfully be spending the next four years with. Although he could have easily gone to a prestigious college or even decided he was above it Alfred had somehow convinced him it would be a good way of getting rid of some of his social awkwardness when he was around new people.

He could almost hear Alfred's know it all voice in his head. “Sir, maybe a year or two around real people instead of occasionally going to banquets full of fake smiles would do you some good.”

He mentally rolled his eyes while thinking about it. Once he finally had all his things together he took a short breath as he opened the door, his hands started getting sweaty at the sight of all the people surrounding the campus. He took one last look at Alfred then began walking towards the dormitory that Alfred had shown him a while ago. After Alfred had seen Bruce reach at least half way to the dorms he began to slowly start leaving the driveway.

The second Bruce had successfully entered his dorm and placed his stuff on the small bed that was given to him, he took a large breath brushing his hands over his face, the realization that this is where he's spending the next four years starting to settle in. He took one more breath before he slowly started taking some of his things out of his bag and arranging them.

________________

After about an hour or two Bruce was finally done, he took a couple steps back and admired his work. Out of the corner of his eye he picked up on a second bed not understanding how he didn't notice it while he was arranging his things, mentally blaming it on him focusing too hard. He could've  sworn he told Alfred he wanted a single room so he could have his alone time. He sighed as he sat on his bed pulling his phone out hoping that his soon to be roommate would at least be normal or even better, ignore his whole existence. When he pulled out his phone he looked at his old messages with Selina wondering to himself what went wrong.

They had been doing good for a solid seven months before things started going haywire, Bruce re-living the entire break up in his head, the thought playing over and over. He really thought they would get married one day, the picture of Selina yelling and asking him why he couldn't just be like the other guys. Why couldn't he just go out in public like a normal person? Why he couldn't just communicate, he always wondered the same to himself why he couldn't just be normal.

His train of thought was interrupted by a knock on the door making him sit at attention at an unpleasant speed, as he got up he groaned looking at himself through the mirror located close to the entrance of the door. He traced the outlines of his eye bags taking a deep breath wondering when, and how it ever got this bad. “Hello? I could've sworn I heard somethn.” A thick country accent mumbled, breaking Bruce from his daze as he rushed back to the door.

“Sorry about that, I was distracted.” Bruce said quietly trying to avoid eye contact with the obviously taller man.

“No problem, just didnt wanna come in while you might be changin you know?” The taller man said with a small laugh, hoping to lighten some of the tension. Bruce didn't budge he just nodded and went back to his side of the room now sitting at the desk that was conveniently placed right beside his bed.

The tall man awkwardly began dropping some of his things and placing them on the floor close to his side of the room. He looked back at Bruce and rubbed the back of his head before he got up the courage to walk up to him. “My name's Clark, I'm from Kansas. I'm not used to hangin around that many people so sorry if I seem a little nervous.

Bruce gave him a short glance then turned back to his desk grunting softly, not really acknowledging his presence since he was too focused on continuing his self pity at the moment. “Not really sure what that's supposed to mean buddy.” Clark said with a small grin forming on his face. “Great my roommates a country boy, and obnoxious I'm in for an excruciating year.” Bruce thought to himself as he pinched the bridge of his nose. “My name's Bruce and I'd very much appreciate it if you stuck to your side of the room, boyscout.” Bruce spitting the last word with as much tension he could bring out. Clark looked at him for a moment as if assessing the situation then gave Bruce a soft smile. “I gotcha Bruce,” Clark said as if trying out the new name. “I promise it was never my intention to creep you out or somthin if you need anythin ill uh be on my side of the room.” Clark said putting on that dumb radiating smile of his that Bruce is now realizing how much he hates.

Bruce grunted once more, Clark taking it as a sign of approval as he started unpacking. Bruce took this moment to look at Clark from the corner of his eye as he unpacked his things. Clark wasn't too bulky but he did look like he worked out which wasn't too surprising from his farm boy look. He wore glasses that made him look like a complete geek which made Bruce chuckle to himself slightly. Bruce did think to himself how calm he was when he had reprimanded him most people would have taken it as complete disrespect and either ignored him the rest of the year or started yelling back. This was new.
