Chapter Text
"The fire of Sunfyre completely consumed Queen Rhaenyra, ending the Dance of the Dragons."
Ugh, damn it! I threw my phone down and started slamming my poor pillow against the mattress, why all the characters I like always die.
If only I could go into my favorite show... I'd make the bad guys die, I'd save Nyra, her children, and all the good people who don't deserve their tragic fate. I'd have a really big, beautiful dragon, maybe pink or light blue... VIOLET, a dragon that color would be so pretty.
If only... My phone alarm started ringing. It had a very special title: "Sleep, idiot." I set it so I wouldn't stay up late reading fics. I turned it off, and to my surprise, this time Morpheus didn't take long to take me to his kingdom.
"Wake up, my lady."
"Since when do you call me lady, Aurora?" I still couldn't open my eyes.
"My lady, remember breakfast with the king today," the maid slid back the sheets. "I'm Alys, by the way."
Alys? I don't know anyone by that name. Wait, Alys Rivers? Maybe, just maybe, the shifting method worked this time. I opened my eyes, trying not to feel disappointed.
I was there, everything was alive, the typical morning colors, the smells, even the woman in front of me. It wasn't the Alys I knew, but I couldn't complain. So, is this how shifting works?
Yes, yes, yes, little dragon, I'm coming for you. "Alys, help me get dressed." I opened the wardrobe. "What do we have here?"
There were some very beautiful dresses, although... they didn't look like the ones I put in the script. Still, I wouldn't complain.
"I'm going to choose this purple one, Alys," I said. I'm sure the current king is Viserys I; it'll be annoying to put up with Alicent. "Do you know if my sister is awake?"
"I don't think so yet, my lady," the maid replied quickly.
Alys wasted no time helping me dress. I need a shower, but people don't bathe here. I didn't see a bathtub in the bathroom.
"By the way, where's the bathtub?" I asked indiscreetly.
She looked at me suspiciously. "Is upstairs, my lady."
"I want you to get me a bathtub. I'm sick of having to go upstairs to take a bath," I said authoritatively.
"I'll try."
I should have written in the script that I could secretly have a modern bathroom. I can't believe I'll have to ask Alys to clean my latrine. How embarrassing.
"It's ready, my lady," Alys finished brushing my hair.
"Thank you," the handmaiden look me in surprised.
I stepped out the door, without even glancing in the mirror, ready for battle. Until I realized it... I didn't know where the king was.
I approached my guard. "Lead me to the king."
"Of course, Princess."
The tall man walked quickly, and I followed him. He remained silent the entire way, and I wasn't outgoing enough to start a conversation. When we arrived, he opened the door and introduced me.
"Your Highness, the Princess has come to see you," he said, stepping aside to let me in.
It was the council chamber; I would recognize it instantly. I stood up and entered as elegantly as I could, attempting a curtsy. "Good day, Your Majesty."
"How are you, my dear Aelora?"
The man called me by the wrong name; I should have been called Daena. I looked up, and the man who met my gaze wasn't that imbecile Viserys.
"Who are you?" The words tumbled out of me.
One of the advisors didn't take the comment well at all. "How dare the princess to address the king so informally!"
"Stop right now, Oscar," the elderly man rose, approached me, and touched my forehead. "I believe my granddaughter is feeling unwell today, Grand Maester. Please watch over her health in the coming days."
"I will, Your Majesty," one of the men present replied quickly.
I searched for familiar faces among the men of the small council until I found him, seated in one of the seats near the king: Baelor Targaryen, the same Baelor who died at the Tourney in Ashford Meadow.
I arrived in the world I had always longed to visit, but I am not in the time I had hoped for. I sat in a chair; I will not have my dragon.
