Chapter Text
Furnia POV
The Traveler.. I dislike her. She wanders around Teyvat, 'helping' everyone... She didn't help me in the slightest. Well that's not true.... I guess after everything she sought me out to see how I was doing.. Neuvillette probably asked her to....
After everything why would he think I'd prefer to see her face over his? I'd much rather he come check on me himself or even send Clorinde if it's such a big deal. Why would I ever want to see that blonde after what they did to me? 500 years of work only for some... Some 'HERO' to come around and call me out as a fraud in front of everyone?! They were only in Fontaine for at most five months! And suddenly all my work for 500 years suddenly means... Nothing?..
Everyone sided with her just because 'I didn't have a plan' and 'wasn't taking the prophecy seriously'? I was taking it seriously! That prophecy was my whole life, my whole reason for doing what I was doing... Was that not enough? .. Though I can't really be mad when no one knew. I did my own research on how to stop it and came up empty but it's not like I was just... Ignoring it. Don't they understand what I was doing? Having the people panic would have just made things more chaotic and stressful. I wasn't acting oblivious just for the fun of it.. Is it so bad that I'd prefer the people of Fontaine to have smiles on their faces while other people stressed over the prophecy? Was that so wrong to not rope everyone in on my suffering while Focalors did whatever she was doing?..
Now I have to live in the aftermath where people think I stepped down from Archon and the Traveler and Neuvillette saved them all. I can't even be mad.. Neuvillette did put in a lot of work and he actually managed to stop everyone from being dissolved.. The Traveler fought with him against the Narwal..... What else did they do to deserve being called Fontaine's savior? They come here and meddle in things that aren't their business and all the sudden she's a hero who deserves higher praise than Neuvillette who actually stopped the prophecy from coming to pass? .... But knowing Neuvillette its likely easier saying the Traveler did the heavy lifting than explaining he's a dragon... People already discriminate against him as is.. It makes me sick to think about her getting so much praise when she barely did anything but fight a fat Narwal with the help of Neuvillette....... And I guess that Harbinger too.. He was really putting in a lot of work fighting that thing for who knows how long.. He looked in pain when they both appeared in the court room..
All that suffering..
Five hundred years...
Five Hundred Years...
Five Hundred Years...
I've suffered for FIVE HUNDRED YEARS only to be called out on my act and nearly executed...
...
If I think too much about it the stress will kill me.. Seeing as I can die now... Thank you Mirror me.... But were you ever really me? Was I ever you? Were we really the same person before that dreadful day that my life started anew without you as part of me? ..
I think we both should have died that day.. I am part of you, godly or not I am your body.. Who I am as a person shouldn't diminish that fact. The Traveler only jumped to save me because she had questions. Questions neither of us had answers to..... Selfish.. Regretting her actions only after it turns out way worse than she thought it would... What did they truly think would happen? Five hundred years of proven identity fraud of the divine should be punished via death. That's just reasonable.. But maybe I'm being pessimistic instead of realistic. Neuvillette looked scared and honestly shocked, but he didn't move to help me. Maybe I should have taken that duel against Clorinde... That would've proved I wasn't just some human. I couldn't die or grow old till my task was done. Would it have hurt to be stabbed by her? Have her blade slice through my clothes and skin.... I wouldn't have died.. So... Could I have kept standing after losing a limb? .. Having my throat slit? My eyes gashed? Bones broken? ...... Would it have actually hurt? ... I can hardly notice my own tears.... Would I notice my own blood?..
I should stop thinking such heavy things while walking along the beach side...... Oh.. I'm not even on the beach side anymore..
Third POV
Furina is standing on open water.. She didn't notice that her steps took her off the shore and onto the surface of the water. Why did she walk this way? .. Looking back to the shoreline..... There stands Lumine.. Furina didn't even notice her or Paimon.. Did she ignore them on accident? Possibly. Furina turns away from the shoreline and keeps walking.. The Singer of Many Waters hovers just beside her as she walks.... The soft almost unnoticeable sound coming from the singer is peaceful to Furina. She walks and walks and walks... Farther and Father away.. Leaving Lumine and Paimon on the shoreline without another backwards glance..
"Well that was weird.. Furina was walking like she didn't even see us! Did she not hear Paimon? .." Paimon says as she watches Furina go.. She hovers at Lumine's side with a slight frown..
"Maybe she's just having a bad day Paimon.." Lumine looks at Paimon..
