Ever since the winx saved the entire dimension from Valtor once again, they returned to Alfea. They were ready to become the professors they were meant to be. They were ready to spread magic propaganda like the previous generation had done. All fairies are good because they used light magic. Other magical beings that uses or possesses dark magic are all evil. It was a propaganda started by fairies for fairies, they wanted to make everyone think fairies were the only righteous beings in the magic dimension.
They weren't just wrong about that, but they were starting to see the truth of what dark magic meant to the magic dimension. The Shadow Phoenix was right about one thing. Light magic brought imbalance. This was a hard pill to swallow for the entire magic dimension.
But how did they find out about this in the first place?
With a non-deadly solar eclipse. It was rare when it happened, but anytime it did, light magic users lose the ability to use their magic entirely. Dark magic users gain an upper hand. Just when light magic users feared an uprising, the dark magic users turned around and gave light magic users the protection they needed from the solar eclipse. They provided the energy lost within the light magic users.
One solar eclipse changed their perception. That was when the entire magic dimension learned that in order to achieve peace, both magic had to exist together.
Daddy was standing right outside of Alfea. This was his first day teaching here and he was sure not everyone here will be open-minded regarding the facts of balanced magic. Especially a hot-headed individual he was previously warned of. From what he heard, she was the most difficult to deal with out of all the other students.
Alfea had more students than he was previously told. He supposed this was to be expected since the trix had destroyed countless schools across the magic dimension. It was the most logical solution for the time being. Building schools weren't easy, especially magical schools that require different enchantments. It wasn't as easy as some ignorant magical users thought it would be. If anything, it could take up to a decade to fully ensure the schools are perfectly safe for the students and the professors.
This was also why there were so many fairies with different styles and vastly different backgrounds as well as their knowledge of magic. What surprised him the most was that the fairies from Melody know dark magic, they embrace it as a part of them. Though this confused him, it did help him understand why the fairies of Melody are stronger than any other realms.
Then there were the fairies from Domino. Coming from a realm that was just freed not long ago, count a few years as not long, they were arrogant. He could see the way they carried themselves as if they were the ones who were responsible for the creation of the magic dimension. In all honesty, not even that one fairy could take the credit. While she did have the power, she didn't create the dimension. He was hoping she was at least aware of that.
Daddy decided he had lingered outside of Alfea long enough. He slowly made his way towards where he knew he would meet the current headmistress. After a hundred years, magic has evolved and the old ways of magic were no longer effective, this included the shield Faragonda had created. The one powerful barrier was reduced to nothing but a target by those who wanted to attack the school. Too bad not a lot of fairies understood this. They all collectively believed that Faragonda's shield were useless.
Walking down the hallways made him nervous for some reason. He had never been inside a school this grand before. He was more used to teaching smaller schools, ones that were not as known and were hidden. He could see the light coming in from the windows illuminating the different sculptures and pictures around the school. Even the plants around the hallways feel magical. This was certainly a new feeling as he had never known anyone who would constantly use magic for natural beings, it only destroys them in the long run.
He could here the several excited tones of the fairies, probably freshmen. But in all honesty, he couldn't care less. He heard them getting excited over learning to end the lives of magic users. Yep, indoctrinated to be dark magic haters. It wasn't abnormal in this generation but it shouldn't have been normalised. Yet, it was and the damage was shown.
The journey to the headmistress's office was shorter than he had hoped. He was hoping to have more time to gather his thoughts regarding everything in this school. But here he was, standing before two ridiculously gigantic doors. What was with magical schools and their display of being majestic? He really couldn't understand that part at all.
Taking a deep breath, he pushed the door open. Sitting at the desk, was a much younger person with magenta hair, her attire made it not as obvious she was the headmistress, but the way she organised her desk, she knew what she was doing. She was currently typing on the computer, not really paying attention to whoever stands at the door or is in the office. He cleared his throat to get her attention.
The current headmistress looked up and with a warm smile, she welcomed him. He smiled back, knowing she wasn't one for nonsense. He recognised who she was. Tecna, Fairy of Technology, guardian of Zenith, and the current headmistress of Alfea. She had been chosen because her ability to summon strong shields proved for her to be able to protect the next generation of fairies.
"Welcome to Alfea, I take it you're-" Daddy cut her off before she could finish her words.
"Just D is enough." He watched as Tecna nodded, not adding anything more. In all honesty, he wished he could change his name, but this was not allowed according to the laws of the magic dimension. It hadn't been possible since the day the entire magic dimension feared shapeshifters would take advantage of the system to hide their heinous crimes. That was the start of the fear for every single shapeshifter out there.
"Of course, now I have to warn you, some students here… they're not really welcoming towards individuals who use dark magic." Daddy knew exactly what the headmistress meant. There were still some families that were really traditional, still teaching their children that nothing was more evil than dark magic.
"Rest assured, Miss Tecna. I am prepared to handle those kinds of students. I'd just like to know if there are any professors who share that mindset." In all honesty, Daddy admitted the problem didn't really lie with the students. It was with the professors who insisted on traditional teachings of light magic bringing balance without dark magic. It was already seen that dark magic was required for the magic dimension to have peace, but some just refused to accept it.
He watched as Tecna avert her gaze slightly. That was all the answer he needed. He didn't expect her to say anything more but- "There is one professor here who still believes we can thrive without dark magic. She's a friend of mine and well… she does have some bad experiences with dark magic. I hope you can understand."
Daddy said nothing, he just slowly rolled up his left sleeve to show a huge burn mark along with several scars that travelled from his shoulder down to his wrist. "I'm afraid that isn't an excuse. As you can see I've had my experiences with light magic, yet I've never once believed light magic to be evil. Only believe the one who uses it is."
Tecna nodded, understanding his logic. At the same time, Daddy could see that Tecna was rethinking about what he said. He didn't really blame her. She had been through a lot with dark magic users, her and her friends. They've all suffered through something by some dark magic users. But something in her demeanor sent a shiver down his spine. She wasn't fighting his words. She was agreeing on it all the while being open with the possiblity that someone with light magic could bring harm.
"I hope I didn't leave a bad impression." He said apologetically, sincerity in his voice.
Tecna shook her head with a smile. She just extended her hand as a welcoming gesture. He took a hold of her hand to return the invite.
"Welcome to Alfea, Professor D."
