Newer, More Updated Reddit Skin - 2026

Summary:

A 2026 update to the updated reddit skin by jinsake from 2024 (which was an update to spookedcroon from 2021).
All the icons have been updated, I moved up/down vote buttons, updated the "join the convo" field, made user flairs, and updated colors.

Notes:

It took a LOT of head bashing to get this right because of how AO3 sanitizes its code. I got it looking perfect in Codepen and then had to spend a long time modifying it so it wouldn't break the rest of the fic (especially if you're using other workskin elements) and so it wouldn't inject tags all over.

I am.... extremely new to HTML/CSS and am using AO3 as a means to learn to code stuff, so the CSS might be inefficient, but it does work with other workskins! That was a stupid hurdle to jump over.
I did use Claude to assist when I couldn't figure out the AO3 sanitization and some other formatting stuff, but I think I've got an okay handle on it now.

Will Eva Stratt come out of hiding to deal with the beetles?

So the beetles will have info for us soon, good or bad. Stratt was in prison for a while and is now hiding in Russia, but do you think she’ll step back into some sort of world director role again? Or is she going to just keep her head down since she’s nearly been assassinated once

I don’t think she’s “hiding.” Like once or twice a year someone posts in the r/IDthisceleb about her at a library where she apparently works. I guess she has a nametag that says "Eve Aster."

I think she should. I genuinely don’t think anyone else could have done what she did. It took years for any other government to do anything about the Astrophage crisis even after the Hail Mary launched. There likely isn’t anyone else heartless and ruthless enough to do what needs to be done WITHOUT personal gain.

I don’t think she’s heartless at all.

My mom worked with her back at her ESA job before everything went down. When I’ve asked her about what Eva Stratt was like, she said Stratt was a kind woman at her core. She was pretty quiet but would step on toes and not put up with egos and stuff to get her projects done on time, and she would fight for her team to be respected.

“kind” ????? that’s crazy. She didn’t even blink when her science team blew up. But genuinely, that’s the kind of thing made her so great! I’m not trying to put her down, i’m just saying what I saw. She didn’t care or get attached to people, so it let her cut to the chase and get shit done. She didn’t bow to any government or take any bribes or authority. She didn’t give a shit about anything else. She was cold and cuthroat, and she had to be to get stuff done. Anyone trying to be nice and kind or whatever couldn't have pulled the project off.

I suspect she will to some degree. No one knows the Hail Mary and her crew better. Why wouldn’t she be the one to help implement whatever solution we’ve got coming? Don’t forget Orb Weaver was made by one of her guys.

I hope we do get to see her arrested again. She was a fucking tyrant that wasted so much money that should have gone to preventative measures. Sure, she got SOME answers by learning what the Petro line thing is, but then we should have moved on to better climate protection and control stuff, not a damn space ship we wouldn’t see for thirty years. It’s such a long shot that they’ll have anything useful, it’s so stupid.
