Longing
Summary:
Aziraphale writes (poetically) about his longing
Notes:
Also written for the IPB GTA with the prompt "Published Author", although I am taking the prompt a bit more loosely here. I really wanted to do a poem for this GTA - and of course this was the round when there were barely any other poems which made it easy to guess that this was me, but I don't care. I had fun.
This is a French Dizain (although my brain always takes that name and replaces it with "disdain" which is also the only reason I can actually remember what this type of poem is called 😄). It's a 10-line stanza with 10 syllables per line and an ababbccdcd rhyme scheme.
Work Text:
Longing
Like a poet I fill page over page
Write about my love, unspoken but true
Beautiful words about the war I wage
Each time I see that lovely smile on you.
The shimmer of your silky hair askew
draped hauntingly dreamlike as you repose.
Pages filled with my dreams to hold you close
and touches so tender yet passion-filled
Wistful thinking and mere unhelpful prose.
Never to be published, never fulfilled.
