Work Text:

Timmy took a shaky breath as he reached to open his front door. It was Friday, the day Jimmy came over every week after school. This Friday was different though, since this year, somehow, it was Valentine's Day.

There had been radio silence between the two of them the week leading up to it. Neither one reaching out to cancel or confirm any plans.

But just as Timmy had been giving up hope, he'd heard the doorbell ring.

"Hey," he said as he opened the door and then abruptly paused.

Jimmy was standing there, in his normal jeans and red t-shirt, but this time he had also layered a white, short sleeved button-up shirt with light blue stripes over it. An attempt at style? But even more out of the ordinary was the bouquet of red roses he was clutching in his hand.

They stared at each other, the dry of the winter air doing nothing to cushion the charged silence.

"Did you—"

"THESE ARE FOR YOUR MOM." Jimmy looked like he was about to die, and Timmy felt more confused than he ever had in his entire life.

"My… mom?" He looked at his friend, mortified about what his brain was suggesting this meant.

"I don't know," he stumbled over his words, "I just thought since she always let's me come over, I, no, it's—"

"Thanks." Timmy grabbed the roses from Jimmy's hand and stepped aside so his friend could come in. "She's not home, neither of my parents are."

"You can just put them in your room then," Jimmy said quietly as he slipped his shoes off and looked anywhere but at Timmy.

"Yeah, okay."

They climbed up the stairs in complete silence, and when they got into his room, Timmy gently placed them on his bedside table. He definitely wasn't going to give these to his mom.

"So you didn't have plans today?" Jimmy questioned as he settled into their usual corner and pushed the power button on the gamecube.

The usual pleasant sound design of the console starting up was completely lost on these two, as they managed to somehow not ever look at each other. (at least not while the other was looking).

"I did have plans." Timmy swallowed as he mindlessly started the game, playing purely on muscle memory.

"Oh, sorry. Did I mess them up?"

"They're with you."

Their eyes finally snapped together, the magnets no longer able to resist each other.

"With me?" Jimmy breathed, and shifted ever so slightly closer.

"I…" Timmy inched towards him. The sparks under his skin began to burn, and he pulled back. "I had plans with you… for our regular hangout."

"Oh. Yeah. Of course." Which each word, Jimmy retreated further into himself.

Timmy internally cursed at himself for not being able to say what he really wanted, but he couldn't risk this.

"But, I do have, I got some, uh," he stumbled along until he finally settled on, "I bought some chocolates. We can share them?"

"Oh?" Jimmy perked up at the mention of sweets.

"Yeah, here let me get them." Timmy paused the game and walked back to his bedside table. His eyes saw the roses atop it, and his heart did a little flip when he fantasized that Jimmy had gotten them for him.

He opened his drawer and immediately regretted having bought such an elaborately decorated heart shaped box.

He watched Jimmy's eyebrow raise as he brought it over, and tried to convince him this was totally normal.

"Uhhhhhhhhh… these were on sale?" he tried, as he sat down.

"You sure you didn't get this for someone?" Jimmy stared at the pink and red monstrosity that Timmy placed in front of them.

"Well, I did…" Timmy rubbed the back of his neck before he continued, "but I don't think the other person likes me back. I don't know, I guess I just don't want to mess things up."

"I get that." Jimmy let out a heavy sigh that revealed he understood all to well what Timmy was experiencing.

"You like someone?" Timmy asked as he sat back and let himself look at Jimmy. He kind of hoped the answer was no. Or maybe yes, but only if that meant—

"Probably not."

Oh.

"I mean, it's just not logical," he grumbled as he pulled his knees up to his chest, and Timmy let himself hope just a tiny bit.

"Well, at least we have these chocolates." Timmy grabbed one out of the box and held it out.

Jimmy eyed it as he gingerly accepted the offering.

"Thank you for the chocolate."

"Thank you for the roses."

A massive blush spread across Jimmy's face. "That's not! They're not!"

"I know, I know, they're not for me." Timmy popped a chocolate into his mouth.

"But you don't mind if I keep them, right? I mean, since no one else got me anything… it would be nice I guess."

"Yeah, that's fine. Sorry your crush didn't get you anything," Jimmy said sadly.

"Well…" Timmy trailed off as he grabbed as many chocolates out of the box as he could.

"Well, what? Didn't you just say that…" he paused, gears turning in his head. Timmy couldn't allow this.

As fast as he could, he pushed one of the chocolates past Jimmy's lips.

"There's like a million flavors in this box," he spoke quickly. "Try and guess which one that was."

Jimmy's brain had been successfully short circuited, and Timmy watched him chew slowly.

"…Raspberry."

"Good. Next."

Timmy held another one up to Jimmy's mouth, and after a moment, his friend accepted it.

He couldn't believe it. He was feeding Jimmy Neutron chocolates on Valentine's Day.

"Hazelnut?" Jimmy asked.

"I don't know."

"You don't know?!"

"I wasn't paying attention, I can't remember which one I gave you."

Jimmy let out an exasperated breath as he facepalmed.

"You can't even pay attention long enough to keep track of what chocolate you're feeding me?" The moment he said it out loud, the two of them went still, and a blush crept across Timmy's face.

"Sorry, I just thought…" He moved to put the lid back onto the box, but something bumped into his mouth and made him stop.

"…your turn." Jimmy held the candy to Timmy's lips expectantly, and his cheeks began to match the color of the box.

Timmy's stomach felt like someone had shaken up a can of purple flurp and immediately opened it, as he let Jimmy put the piece into his mouth.

"Well?" Jimmy pressed, an unnecessary worry in his eyes.

"I liked it."

Jimmy rolled his eyes and said, "no, what flavor? You're the one that started this game, how are you not even playing it right?"

"I guess I don't really care what flavor it is." Timmy said, hoping and praying that Jimmy would try again.

Jimmy looked down at the remaining chocolates in the box, before he said, "who did you get these for?"

Timmy froze.

"I told you, they were on sale."

"Yeah, but you also said that you got them for someone but you're too afraid to give it to them."

"That's not what I said," Timmy argued.

"Fine, don't tell me," Jimmy grumbled as he picked up his controller.

"Well what about you?" Timmy retorted, "who's your crush? Did you buy those roses for them and then chicken out and then come here and say they were for my mom? That would be really weird by the way, if you actually got them for her."

Timmy's heart was beating faster, and he was starting to regret bringing this up at all.

"Of course I didn't get them for you mom," Jimmy admitted. "You're right. I changed my mind…" he trailed off before grabbing another chocolate.

"If I tell you who I got those chocolates for… will you tell me who those flowers were for?" Timmy held his breath as he waited for Jimmy's answer.

A slight nod was all he got, but that was good enough.

Timmy shifted towards Jimmy, and their knees brushed. A shiver went through his body, but he forced himself to focus.

"On three."

"On three," Jimmy agreed.

"One…"

"Two…"

"Three…"

…

"BETRAYAL!" Timmy shrieked as he pointed a finger at Jimmy.

"You didn't say anything either!" Jimmy said as he tried to defend himself from Timmy poking his sides.

"Betrayal, betrayal, betrayal," Timmy chanted with each jab, slowly forgetting the reason why he was doing this in the first place.

"You betrayed me too!" Jimmy whined before he began to fight back.

The two of them devolved into the most awkward tickling match in the history of the universe, but neither of the participants seemed to care.

"Wait, not the chocolate!" Timmy cried out as they came dangerously close to squishing the box. He moved to protect the precious sweets, and in his moment of distraction, Jimmy pounced.

"Got you!" he said joyfully, as he lunged forward and knocked them both off balance.

Timmy found himself flat on his back, looking up into his crush's big blue eyes, and listening to the sound of their breathing as Jimmy braced himself on his hands and knees.

Eyes widening, Jimmy started to pull back, but Timmy grabbed the edges of his shirt to keep him there.

"Jimmy Neutron."

"W—what?" Jimmy stammered as he looked down at Timmy.

"That's who I got the chocolates for."

Face shifting from confusion to clarity, Jimmy's mouth opened, but no words came out.

Timmy felt his face flush, and he tried to wriggle out from beneath his captor.

This time it was Jimmy who moved to keep him there, pinning his wrists to the floor.

"Timmy Turner."

"Yes? That's my name?" Timmy felt more and more uncomfortable as he tried to work out how to backtrack what he'd said.

"That's who I bought the roses for."

This time, no one was sure who moved.

The space between them was swallowed up by their mouths meeting, and Timmy felt the grip on his wrists tighten.

He let his head drop back onto the floor, and Jimmy quickly followed. Their lips were together once again, and he felt one of Jimmy's hands release his hold and slip under his shirt. Timmy reached up and buried his fingers into the back of Jimmy's head and pulled him closer. He let out a soft moan as Jimmy shifted to bite his neck.

No longer able to contain himself, he grabbed Jimmy's hip and pulled down hard. Their bodies were pressed completely together now, and Timmy grabbed at anything he could as they got closer and closer to becoming one.

"I need you," Timmy whined as he ran his hands up and down Jimmy's sides.

"I've wanted this for so long," Jimmy whispered.

They got lost in each other, and suddenly the chocolates and the flowers ceased to matter entirely. All that remained in the world was the two of them.
