Picnic in The Park

Summary:

Picnic date in the park.

Freshly Cut Grass

Work Text:

“Oscar’s is the food packed yet?” Arthur asked, come into the kitchen from the bedroom where he had just finished getting ready.

“Yes food is packed and so is the car, thanks so much for the help. Really appreciate it.” Oscar said turning to face Arthur as he put the last sandwich into the cooler.

“I had to make myself look pretty for you.” Arthur came to stand beside Oscar, pressing a kiss to his cheek.

“Yes you are very pretty.”

“I know I am.” Arthur grabbed the cooler off the counter and headed out the door, Oscar following behind him.

Arthur put the cooler into the backseat while Oscar got into the driver’s seat. Before long Arthur joined him and the two were off. It didn’t take long to get to the park where they were going to have lunch. Oscar grabbed the cooler while Arthur grabbed the blanket and the two made their way, hand in hand, across the park to a free spot under a large tree. Arthur spread out the blanket for the two to sit down on.

“This is nice, just the two of us.” Arthur said as they ate their food.

“Yeah, wish we could have time like this together.” Oscar hated how little time they got together, especially time for just the two of them.

Once they finished eating they laid down on the blanket, hands loosely intertwined together. They listened to the world around them, children laughing, people talking, cars driving by, dogs barking. They could smell the grass which was cut not too long ago and someone’s cooking from across the park. It was days like this that made everything they did worth it.

“I love you.” Arthur whispered, turning to look at the side of Oscar’s face.

“I love you.” Oscar turned to look at Arthur, a soft smile crossing his face. Both leaned in at the same time, placing a quick kiss against the other’s lips, content with life at the moment.
