“This is Beck, leave a message” “Hey Babe, where are you you were suppose to come over one hour ago. Call me back” Jade said tossing her phone onto her bed. They had friday and monday off and they hadn’t went on a date in forever. So it felt natural to go on a date given their extra time. But when Beck didn’t text her in the morning and didn’t call to say he was on the way. She was starting to get annoyed and worried. It wasn’t like Beck to just leave her texts and calls unanswered without a reason and even then she had texted the others, Cat, Andre, Robbie, even Tori. None of them had heard from him and Andre said that he seemed off when they were doing their project yesterday. “Forget i’ll head over”. Jade finally decided picking up her phone and keys. “Jade where are you going?” Jasper asked as she passed his room door. “Out with Beck” “alright. I’ll tell dad your working with your friends on a group project” he said calmly, it wasn’t the first time he covered for Jade and they both knew it wouldn’t be the last. They both knew their Dad didn’t approve of Jade’s interest in arts and when he heard she was dating someone who was into acting didn’t help her and their father’s relationship. If Jade was dating anyone else Jasper probably wouldn’t cover for her. But after meeting him at one of Jade’s plays and threatening him to not break his sister’s heart he accepted Beck as family with no issue. Jade was was also pretty sure Jasper enjoyed having an older brother. So it was a win-win situation for both of them. “Thanks” She said Ruffling his hair. She normally wasn’t very affectionate with anyone but Beck but after Jasper accepted Beck as family with little to no fight. She started to treat him better and when he started covering for her she started to show him more affection to the point where he almost forgot that there were people in her school that were afraid of her.
After Jade began driving over to Beck’s place she got a call from Tori. “Yes, what do you want?” Jade asked quickly sounding more stress than she would have liked. “Heyy. Umm. I just got of the phone with Andre and she said something about Beck being off when they were doing their project yesterday-“ “tell me something i don’t know!” Jade shouted at her phone. “And i rememeber during Gradstient’s class on thursday he seemed more tired and quiet than usual. Thought you should know”, Jade was almost taken it back when she heard how calm Tori was, “oh. Thanks” she replied slightly ackward. “You good? You sound. I don’t know. Stressed” Tori said, Jade could hear the concern in her tone. “Ya. I’m fine. Just slightly annoyed and well-“ “worried” Tori finished for her, they really weren’t the best of friends but over time they’ve or well mostly Jade had started to gotten to know each other more. Tori especially had started to get to know Jade better like knowing when she was worried which was rare. Or well rare to see her express it openly. “Ya. Kinda” “i’m sure whatever has happened to Beck is not serious” Tori said comfortingly making Jade smile slightly. She really had grown to respect Tori not only has a person but as a friend. “Thanks. I’ve got to go. Bye” “your welcome. And byeee” Tori responded ending the call as Jade parked her car down the road from Beck’s house. His parents seemed to be out since both their cars were gone. But Beck was definitly still there given that his car was still parked outside his RV.
“Hey Beck? It’s Jade you alive in there?”, there was not verbal reponse other than a groan and coughing. “Babe. You ok?” Jade called out again. Pulling out the keys to his RV from her pocket. She hadn’t really used them but she always liked to have them with her just in case that if she got into an argument with her father she got drive over and talk to Beck without needing him to open the door for her. “Beck. I’m coming in” she said sliding her keys into the lock and opening the door. His room looked a lot worst than she remembered the last time she was there. Normally Beck didn’t have any clothes out of his drawers but now like half of them were laying on the floor in piles. Beck was lying on his bed in his PJs, his face was covered in sweat and their was a bucket next to the edge of his bed. “Beck?” Jade asked sitting on his bed. “Jade? Why are you here?” He asked weakly, he sounded worst than he looked. “You weren’t answering any of my calls, so i came over to see if you were alive” he grinned weakly at her dark humor, “you look horrible” she stated putting on her hands over his. “I know. I’ve got a whopper of a headache, sore throat, a blocked nose and i feel hot and cold at the same time”, before he could finish the back of her hand was at his forehead. “You most definitly have a fever” “i know. Dad’s in canada right out and mom went out to get meds for me” “when didn’t you text me? I would have been here a lot earlier if you told me you weren’t well” she said cupping his cheek. “I was scared you would be mad that we couldn’t go for our date” he admitted, she sighed before speaking. “I would be mad if you just blew me off. I would never be mad of you for being unwell” she said softly moving closer to him. “K” he replied sinking deeper into his bed. “Have you eaten” “no. I feel like throwing up” “you have to eat. I’ order some soup” she said pulling out her phone before he could protest.
About 30 minutes later the food arrived. “Babe. Wake up. You need to eat” she said lightly shaking his shoulder making him groan before he cracked open one eye to see her holding a plastic bag. “But i feel like throwing up” he said like it would convice her stop. “That’s because you haven’t eaten” “Jade i don’t wanna eat” he whined into his pillow, was he being a child? Yes. Was it going to change Jade’s mind? No. “You will eat. I’ll force it down your throat if i have to” she said helping him sit up against his will. Once he was fully upright, Jade sat the bowl on his side table, opening up the plastic cover to reveal a bowl of cabbage soup, she took the spoon out of the bag and handed it to Beck. Who’s hands were shaking. After Jade finally made him take the first bite, his nausea seemed to dissapear pretty quickly, with the feeling of hunger begin to over take it. Before he realized the bowl was empty and he had to admit. He felt a lot better.
They spent the next 40 minutes chatting about random things. Mostly school, home, life, mundane things to keep Beck’s mind off being sick. Once Beck’s mom reached back with his meds, she handed them to Jade saying that she had to get back to work and thanking her for staying with Beck. Also getting her to make sure Beck actually takes his medication. Before leaving to get to work. After that they spent the next 10 minutes going back and forth about Beck’s meds. “You have to take them to get better” Jade said holding the small measuring cup to his face. “No!” Beck defended pouting at Jade. “Come on. It will be over quick” she insisted as he turned to face away from the cup. Making Jade groan out of frustration. She was aware of how stubborn Beck could be. After going back and forth for another 5 minutes Jade gave up on attempting to force Beck to drink it. She groaned loudly moving closer to Beck. Then before he could react she quickly drank the medication without swallowing it and pressed her lips to his, tiliting her head so the liquid would flow into his mouth. After they broke away after a few moments, Beck just sits there frozen at what just happened. Jade smirked “did i break you?” She asked teasingly making turn to face away feeling his face actively heat up from embarrassment, “shut up” he muttered weakly. Normally he was the one to fluster Jade not the other way around.
About an hour later they were in the middle of some coming of age movie Beck had wanted to watch for awhile, when gus eyelids started to feel heavy. “Your falling asleep” she said calmly trailing her fingers through his hair. “No i’m not” he protested sleepily cuddling closer to Jade. “Your clingy when your sick. You know that right?” She asked as he nodded sleepily unable to keep his eyes open for much longer. “Hey Jade” “Ya?” “Thanks. And i’m sorry about the date” she placed a kiss on the crown of his head “you shouldn’t be sorry. It’s not your fault”. “Ok?” “Ok”. “Good. Now sleep” she said pushing his eyelids shut. “K. I love you” he said sleepily, she smiled trailing her fingers through his hair again. “I love you too”.
