Ideal-Unideal Sleeping Arrangements

Summary:

Saiki has to share a room on a class field trip with Aiura to avoid pestering from Teruhashi and being in the presence of Nendou. The bed is surprisingly comfortable, but Saiki finds his bedmate surprisingly even more comfortable.

Notes:

Fuck you. Kiss my ass. I'm gonna write Saiki K fan fic because I have free Goddamn will.

(See the end of the work for more notes.)

Work Text:

Saiki and his class are on a trip to Switzerland as part of a cultural exchange program. Naturally, Saiki did not want to go, but changed his mind due to his opportunity to try Swiss coffee jelly. Why wouldn’t he just teleport? He had a migraine last week and hasn’t been able to teleport such vast distances for a while.

Saiki: “Ah, my favorite time of day: night. While I’d love to teleport back home and just sleep there, my abilities have been temperamental as of recent. Currently my range of teleportation is limited to about one thousand kilometers instead of the usual five thousand light years. Anyway, our class is sharing rooms for the night: one per two students, which unfortunately means I will have to share.”

Saiki walks into a small hotel room which is dim, lit only by a lamp. Aiura is lying in the bed in the center of the room.

Aiura: “Took you long enough, jeez.”

Saiki: “To think I owe you a favor for this.”

“I know what you’re probably thinking: ‘Saiki, why don’t you just find an empty room and teleport there?' Well I would, but I can only teleport to places I’ve seen before, and thanks to last week’s headache, my clairvoyance isn’t powerful enough to find me an empty room in Europe I can teleport to. The only places with beds that I’ve seen have been residential units, which means that there are people inside who would be very mad at me breaking in. The only potentially unoccupied place is this apartment in Bucharest, Romania that the owner lives in on and off, but, again, my clairvoyance won’t let me see if he’s actually there or not. So sharing this room is probably a safer bet.”

Saiki draws back the covers and gets in bed beside Aiura.

Aiura: “Just out of curiosity, why did you take me up on my offer?”

Saiki: “Well my options for bedmates were subpar to say the least. Only Teruhashi and Nendou had free space. I didn’t want Teruhashi to have access to me while I’m unconscious, by the way, if she comes looking for me, it’s your job to protect me; and Nendou is Nendou.”

Aiura: “How did you convince her not to force you to share a room?”

Saiki: “I didn’t. I used hypnosis to make her believe her roommate is me when in actuality, it isn’t.”

Aiura: “But don’t you think they’d notice?”

Cut to Rifuta, face completely red, being cuddled by a sleeping Teruhashi.

Saiki: “I get the feeling they won’t mind.”

“Anyway, how’d you manage to get this room all to yourself?”

Aiura: “Easy, I got Toritsuka to make it look haunted.”

Saiki: “Why didn’t you share the room with him?”

Aiura: “Why would I sleep in the same room as that perv?”

Saiki: “Fair enough.”

Aiura snuggles up to Saiki as he reads a shonen manga. Saiki ignores her and continues reading.

Aiura: “Saiki, can you put your arm around me?”

Saiki: “No.”

Aiura: “Seriously. I fidget in bed, I don’t want to fall, and you owe me a favor for this.”

Saiki: “No.”

Aiura: “I’ll buy you a coffee jelly tomorrow.”

Saiki: “Deal.”

Saiki places his free arm around Aiura’s torso. Aiura buries her head in Saiki’s chest. Saiki continues to read, unphased.

Aiura, muffled: “Goodnight Saiki.”

Time passes, Aiura’s breath slows down.

Saiki: “Looks like she’s sleeping now, which I guess means I should go to sleep too.”

Saiki puts his manga down on a nightstand next to his side of the bed and turns off the reading lamp he was using before he turns to Aiura.

Saiki: “It’s been a while since I’ve cuddled with anyone. The last time was with my mother before I figured out levitation. I have to admit, it’s kind of nice”

Saiki begins to blush. He lowers into bed so his back is no longer against the wall.

Saiki: “She… kind of smells like coffee jelly even…”

Saiki wraps his other arm around Aiura and pulls her closer to him.

Saiki: “Maybe I’ve been missing out…”

A smile breaks out on Saiki’s face as he slowly rests his head next to Aiura’s, so they’re both touching cheeks.

Aiura: “Saiki.”

Saiki: “Yeah?”

Aiura: “You know I’m still awake, right?”

Saiki’s expression goes blank and he teleports into my real life father’s apartment in Bucharest, Romania, where my real life dad’s Saiki K equivalent walks in.

Stefan (my dad): “Cine naiba ești? Cum ai intrat în apartamentul meu? Chem poliția!”

Saiki: “I should have kept my original roommate.”

Notes:

I'm not typically a romance writer, so this was my first time really trying this. I felt really weird writing this just like, sitting there describing these things. Is this how romance writers usually are? Anyway, I had this idea in my head and just wanted to bang it out on the spot. The fact that I was able to basically instantly produce this and I still haven't drafted my college essay speaks words to how much of a fucking bum I am.
