Everytime You Call (I Fall Again)

Summary:

Nick threw in the lit match, setting the bowl of herbs ablaze. Looking down at his note, he spoke the incantation:

“In nomine magni, dei nostri Satanas
Introibo ad altare, Domini Inferni”

The flame grew higher, before dying completely. Nick waited a moment, then another, his patience being tested. Did he say it wrong? Did he use the wrong herbs? He scratched at his temples, cursing under his breath, till suddenly the room got colder.

“You aren't going to give up now, are you?”

Work Text:

Nick threw in the lit match, setting the bowl of herbs ablaze. Looking down at his note, he spoke the incantation:

“In nomine magni, dei nostri Satanas

Introibo ad altare, Domini Inferni”

The flame grew higher, before dying completely. Nick waited a moment, then another, his patience being tested. Did he say it wrong? Did he use the wrong herbs? He scratched at his temples, cursing under his breath, till suddenly the room got colder.

“You aren't going to give up now, are you?”

A voice sounded behind him, the same sweet voice as his wife, he turned slowly, eyes wide. “Lucifer..” She smiled dazzlingly in response. She strode towards him, her night gown flowing around her. “So I assume all of this was for me hm? To get me back?” She stopped infront of him, and suddenly his mouth was dry. “Yea- yes..And! I'm ready! I—” Lucifer cut him off with a press of a finger to his lips, shushing him softly. “Nick.. I'm flattered, no one has done any nicer.. However, it's been a while since I've been sent to dream land, and I'm sure the Winchesters have been busy. I'd like to be caught up on things.” She pushed him to sit, falling down next to him. “Like, your current state for example. How is it you're alive, Nick?” She tilted her head down, looking up at him, “You aren't working with the Winchesters, are you?” Nick flinched, not expecting the question.

“No, no i would never. The Winchesters hate me.. They said it was the archangel blade, kept me alive when it…” He trailed off, Lucifer nodding in understanding.

“Such a fickle thing that blade, hm? Another question, why do the Winchesters hate you? I'm curious.” She tilted her head, her eyes squinting a smidge, as if it would help her listen better.

“Well, they kept me locked up for a while, didn't trust me. When I left, I went searching for who killed my family and uh—” He chuckled nervously at the memories, “I kinda..killed a few people, trying to find culprit.”

She chuckled, waving a hand. “That's all? Those Winchesters, always so overdramatic. I assume you succeeded.” He nodded, suddenly less sure. “It was a demon, Adraxus.. He said..” He stuttered over his words, but Lucifer wasn't any less patient. “He said that my family’s death.. Was a part of your plan? How… Why?” Her hands came up and cupped his face, freezing cold, but Nick didn't even imagine pulling away. “Oh Nick… When I returned from the cage, I needed a vessel, remember? I searched far and wide.. And then I found you. I chose you, Nick.” She looked deep in his eyes, and he felt a shiver in his soul.

“You chose me too, didn't you?”

Nick felt his eyes drift closed, and felt the word at the tip of his tongue.

“Stop!!”

His eyes flew open, and several figures barged into the room. Winchesters. Always coming at the last possible moment.

Notes:

Nick and Lucifer should have been like Adam and Michael and I stand on that.

Anyways probably a series (?)
