Fluffy Family

Summary:

Lunar challenges Muvmuv to a race, but things don’t exactly go as planned... And Milk might not be as tough as she thinks she is.

Notes:

My safe-for-work version. This idea came from the fanfic contest and I thought it was fair to post the complete version here.

(See the end of the work for more notes.)

Work Text:

Muvmuv was playing with Lunar, Any, Vimmy and Jewel during school... The five girls were inseparable, bound together by their mothers' friendship and the certainty that they were deeply loved by them.

Lunar was always the biggest troublemaker and during their playtime, she challenged Muv to a race. The little girl actually hesitated for a few seconds, mostly remembering her Mama Love's words about being careful and not putting herself at risk... But when Lunar started boasting, saying she would win easily, Muv didn't hesitate to accept the challenge.

Everything was going well: Vimmy was in charge of counting to three and giving the start signal, while Any and Jewel waited at the finish line. Lunar loved teasing Muvmuv and spent the whole time saying it would be so easy to beat her. Everything was set and...

"One, two, three... START!"

Vimmy shouted with a smile and immediately Lunar and Muvmuv started running.

Lunar managed to get a slight lead, but what few people knew was that she had a tiny crush on Muv. So, Lunar started running just a little slower, letting Muv catch up to her.

When Muv realized she was getting closer, she felt happy and pushed herself even harder to win. She remembered that Milk always encouraged her to eat well and play, so she thought she was being a good daughter to her mother Mi.

But then, the unthinkable happened.

Her shoelace came undone and Muv ended up tripping in the middle of the race. The little girl fell to the ground and almost immediately started crying.

Any ran to get a teacher, while Lunar quickly approached and pulled Muv into her arms, trying to comfort her.

"Muv, I'm so sorry! I'm so sorry!"

Now it was Lunar who was crying, patting Muv's back to help her calm down and feeling truly guilty.

"It wasn't your fault, Lunar... It was my shoe... I, I need my moms."

Muv felt blood trickling down her forehead and in that moment, she was absolutely certain she was about to faint.

One important detail: Muvmuv was an extremely dramatic child. And when she cried, she looked even more like her Mami Love, pouting, sniffling and wanting to be spoiled.

A teacher grabbed a clean cloth and gently pressed it against Muvmuv's forehead, trying to stop the bleeding. Shortly after, the school principal arrived and, after taking a look at the cut, decided it would be best to take her to the hospital, as she would likely need a few stitches. One of the teachers would accompany the little girl while the principal called Milk and Love to let them know what had happened.

At the studio, Milk and Love were enjoying their break. They were standing in front of the food trucks the fans had sent, as they always did, filling the set with all kinds of delicious treats for them and the entire crew. Milk was recording a quick thank-you story for all the love and food when her phone suddenly started ringing.

She frowned when she looked at the screen, because it was Muvmuv's school number. Love noticed the immediate change in Milk's expression and also grew worried... What could have happened?

Milk answered the call and after listening carefully to what the principal had to say, confirmed the hospital address. As soon as she hung up, she grabbed Love's hand and pulled her toward the parking lot.

"What happened?" Love asked, hurrying alongside her.

"Muv fell while playing. She hit her head and got a cut. They'll need to give her a few stitches."

Love's eyes widened.

"What?!"

"One of the teachers will go with her to the hospital. We just need to get there!"

Milk opened the car door for Love before getting into the driver's seat. Love had never really liked driving and genuinely enjoyed being Milk's passenger, but definitely not in a situation like this... While Milk drove, Love called the staff and explained their sudden departure, justifying that they would return to the studio as soon as possible but making it clear that Muvmuv was the priority.

The next moment, they were already on their way to the hospital. Despite their worry, they couldn’t help but laugh as they imagined the scene: Muvmuv crying her eyes out and probably making the biggest drama in the world while waiting all alone for her mothers to arrive.

As soon as they arrived at the hospital, Love practically jumped out of the car before Milk had even finished parking.

"I'm going straight to the emergency room. I'll meet you there!"

"Go my princess, I'll park and be right there."

Love just nodded and hurried toward the entrance.

In the emergency room, Muvmuv was sitting on the teacher's lap, crying softly while waiting for the doctor. The cloth they had placed on her forehead was already stained with blood and even though she was trying to be brave, the little girl kept sniffling and making a huge pout.

"Everything's going to be okay Muv," the teacher tried to reassure her. "Your moms should be here soon."

Muvmuv kept whimpering when suddenly her eyes met Love's. Her reaction was immediate: Muvmuv practically threw herself off the teacher's lap.

"MAMIIIIIIIIIIII!"

Love barely had time to open her arms before her daughter ran toward her.

"My baby girl, what happened?!"

She crouched down quickly and caught Muv in her arms, pulling her close to her chest.

"MAMI..."

"I'm here, my love." Love ran her hand gently through her daughter's hair. "You're going to be okay, alright? Mami's here."

Muvmuv buried her face in Love's neck and let out a long whimper.

"It hurts, Mami..."

"I know, my love."

"I was running and Lunar was running with me... And then she slowed down because I think she wanted to let me win..."

Love had to bite the inside of her cheek to keep from laughing. Even injured, Muv still found time to chatter about every detail of the race.

"And then my shoe... my shoe did this..."

Muv pointed at her own feet, outraged at the betrayal.

"The lace came undone and I fell."

"Oh, my love..."

"And there was blood, Mami. Look at my forehead!"

Muv's little voice grew even more tearful.

"I thought I was going to die."

Love's eyes widened.

"Muvmuv!"

"I really thought so, Mami!"

"It was just a cut, my love. The doctor is going to take care of you."

Muv made an even bigger pout and Love pulled her daughter closer to her chest.

"Mami's here and Mi is on her way."

That was when Milk finally walked into the emergency room. She was still looking for them when her eyes found Love and Muvmuv. The cut on her forehead was still bleeding and Milk's eyes immediately filled with tears.

She stopped for a second.

"Oh my God..."

Love looked at her and noticed right away.

"Milk..."

Milk walked quickly toward them, trying to maintain her composure, but her eyes were already completely watery.

"My little girl..."

Muvmuv reached her arms out toward her.

"Mom Mi..."

Milk couldn't resist, she picked up her daughter and held her close, careful not to touch the wound.

"My love, are you okay?"

"It hurts..."

"I know, I know..."

Milk's voice began to falter.

Love watched the scene, desperately trying not to smile. Because now it wasn't just Muvmuv crying: Milk was also starting to cry. And to make it worse, she was crying even more than the child.

"Mom Mi, don't cry..."

"I'm not crying."

Love raised an eyebrow.

"You're not?"

"No."

A tear rolled down Milk's face. Love had to look away to keep from laughing.

"Muv, you need to be strong, okay?" Milk said, wiping her own tears with her free hand. "You're a strong girl! My strong girl."

"But I'm scared..."

"I know, my love. But you need to be brave."

Another tear fell, from both of them.

Love finally couldn't help the small smile that escaped her.

"You're crying." Love teased.

"I am not!"

"Yes, you are."

"It's just..." Milk sniffled, trying to regain her composure. "It's just that our daughter is hurt, she's never been through this before."

Muvmuv, still in her mother's arms, started whimpering again.

"Mom Mi, is it going to hurt a lot?"

Milk took a deep breath.

"No, my love. It's going to be okay."

"Promise?"

"Promise."

Just then, the doctor appeared accompanied by a nurse, interrupting the small family chat.

"Muvmuv Limpatiyakorn Vosbein?"

Muvmuv immediately hid her face in Milk's chest and Love stroked her daughter's back.

"That's you, my love."

The doctor smiled.

"We're just going to clean the wound and give you a few stitches, alright?"

Muv's eyes widened.

"STITCHES?!"

Milk pulled her daughter closer.

"MAMI, I DON'T WANT STITCHES!"

"I know, I know..."

"MAAAAMIIIIIIIIIIII! Are they going to stitch my forehead? There’s barely any flesh there!!!"

Love tried to calm her daughter down, but to no avail. And Milk couldn't say anything anymore, crying all over again. Love looked at the two of them... Mainly because, at that moment, it seemed like she would have to take care of two children.

One little one.

And another one who’s about 5'7" named Pansa.

Slowly, Muvmuv began to calm down, although she was still sniffling in Milk's arms, occasionally complaining about how much her forehead hurt and how unfair it was that she had to get stitches.

And Milk of course wasn't doing much better.

She kept stroking Muv's hair, trying to reassure her while her own eyes remained watery, her voice soft and shaky every time she reminded their daughter that everything was going to be okay. Every now and then, Muv would let out another miserable little whine and Milk would immediately respond with another equally tearful complaint about how her baby shouldn't have to go through this.

Love stood beside them, watching the scene with a smile… Her two dramatic girls.

One was sitting there with a cut on her forehead, still convinced that falling during a school race was probably the worst thing that had ever happened to her. The other was trying desperately to be strong for their daughter while looking like she was about to cry all over again.

Love couldn’t help but feel her heart soften. After all, this was her family: a little messy, a little dramatic, far too emotional and somehow, absolutely perfect. And the funniest part was that every single whine that came out of Muv sounded exactly like something she would say herself.

Love looked at Milk, whose eyes were still fixed anxiously on their daughter and felt an overwhelming warmth in her chest. She loved them so much… More than she could ever properly put into words.

Sometimes, in moments like this, she caught herself wondering how she had gotten so lucky. To have Milk by her side, to have this little girl calling them both her mothers, to come home every day to the kind of love she had once only dreamed about.

They were far from perfect… They were dramatic, they worried too much, they cried over things that probably didn't deserve so many tears, but they were happy. And as Love watched her two girls quietly resuming their little complaints while waiting for the doctor to come back, she smiled to herself.

They were such a cute and happy family. A fluffy family.

(When the doctor came back and started stitching Muv up, Milk ended up crying even harder than her… So, Love promised ice cream, for both of them.)

Notes:

Im sure this is exactly how it would go, be honest...
I hope that every time Muvmuv yelled ‘MAMIIII,’ you heard the exact same scream she let out when Love ate the cake haha
Bye!
