Work Text:
In an empty hallway, two teenagers were standing in front of each other. The taller one, obviously Dazai, had an annoying grin on his face that pissed off the shorter one.
“Seeing your face this early just ruined my whole day,” spat out Chuuya, a walking violation against the school rules. He had his hat on and a few accessories that were already prohibited on school grounds. Many have tried to confiscate his things but somehow, he always got them back and the faculty just decided that there are more important things to do than continue berating him for it.
“What’s that?” Dazai leaned closer to him, cupping his hand behind his ear. His bandages were wound tight on his arms and neck, something that made Chuuya's expression grow even more annoyed.“I can’t hear you all the way from up here.”
Chuuya glared at him before stomping down on his foot with the force of all his pent-up anger towards Dazai.
“Fuck!” Dazai shouted before crouching down to check on his possibly broken foot. His hands were wrapped around his foot before glaring at Chuuya.
Chuuya grins at Dazai who has now bowed down to him. All according to his plan. “Can you hear me clearly now?” He said in a clearly mocking tone, smiling triumphantly as Dazai’s face twisted into something between pain and annoyance.
“You-!” Dazai hissed out before straightening his posture. He pointed towards Chuuya with his left hand and covered his right eye with his other hand. “You made the wrong decision to cross me today!”
“HA?!” Chuuya clenched his fists before crossing them in front of his chest. “You’re the one who made the wrong decision today!”
Dazai laughed before peeking through his fingers, his eyes turning into a darker shade. “All my life, I trained for the time that I can finally harness the powers I received when I was a child. And now, you’re the unlucky one who will experience it firsthand!”
“Well, guess we’ll see who’s the stronger one today.” Chuuya grins before shoving his left fist towards Dazai’s shoulder, a strange light emitting from it. “Did you think you were the only one granted with powers?”
Dazai’s mouth dropped before jabbing his left hand towards Chuuya, still pointing at him accusingly. “You’re lying! There’s only one person who’s the chosen one and that’s me!”
“Sorry to burst your bubble, but it seems like you’re not-so-special after all.” Chuuya mockingly grins at him before raising his chin up in a challenging manner. His hand gestured him to come forward, confident in his own strength.
That statement made Dazai grit his teeth before stretching his arm out towards Chuuya. “Witness the power given to me by the universe. “
They stared each other down for a few seconds before unleashing their so-called abilities.
“May you survive this ordeal brought upon you by the heavens.”
“O heavens, grant me your power as I strike down the devilish foe in front of me.”
“No Longer Human!”
“Upon the Tainted Sorrow!”
“WHAT ARE YOU TWO DOING?!”
They both froze in place at the scarily familiar voice before slowly looking at the looming figure beside them.
Mori has his arms crossed, his eyebrows drawn together, and his lips are turned into a distasteful frown. At this point, they knew that they fucked up because they caught Mori in a bad mood.
“Why are you two being so rambunctious especially during class hours?” Mori asked, already shooing away some of the students and teachers who came to check on the situation with a flick of his hand.
“Well, there’s only one thing that can explain that.” Dazai suddenly looked crestfallen, Chuuya was nodding beside him looking equally as sorrowful.
“What’s the explanation then?” Mori looked at the two teenagers with a confused but concerned expression.
Dazai and Chuuya looked at each other, back to Mori, then to each other. They nodded solemnly at one another before sprinting far away from him. “It’s the work of the Dark Reunion!”
“HEY! DETENTION BOTH OF YOU!” Mori shouted at their disappearing figures. He spent a few seconds debating whether it’s worth the hassle to run after two energetic teenagers speeding off to god knows where.
He put his hands on his hips and sighed. “I’m too old for this, I should retire soon.”

Even if Mori didn’t catch up to them earlier, he still found a way to get them both inside the detention classroom. Which was bad for Randou, who volunteered to watch over detention in hopes of getting work done quietly (or maybe sleeping). But wherever Dazai and Chuuya goes, disaster always follows.
They’re both seated in detention after classes. Randou gave them extra schoolwork to do aside from the usual ‘I won’t fight with Dazai/Chuuya again’ written back-to-back on a ruled paper.
But both had different plans. Even though they were seated with enough distance between them, they found ways to piss each other off.
Chuuya rolled up his ugly drawing of Dazai into a paper ball before throwing it at him square in the head. He snickers when he saw Dazai’s pencil glide all over the paper he was writing his schoolwork on.
Dazai looked up from his paper and took the crumpled paper that landed on his table. His face sours once he saw Chuuya’s drawing before drawing on the backside with an equally horrendous drawing of Chuuya. He threw it back at the shorter boy with a lot more force than necessary.
As retaliation, Chuuya drew himself with angel wings and overpowered abilities, stomping on a defeated Dazai. He cackled to himself before writing an in-depth analysis of why he overpowers Dazai infinitely. Once finished, he threw the paper back to Dazai, feeling accomplished of himself.
When the crumpled paper finally reached his desk, he made a disgusted expression before creating his own masterpiece on a separate paper. He cancelled out Chuuya's ability and added a few of his own powers, especially better wings that put Chuuya's to shame, that Chuuya definitely haven't thought about yet.
He grins to himself before throwing the paper to Chuuya's table. The paper ball hit Chuuya's arm before it landed on the floor. When Chuuya bent down to pick it up, Dazai threw another paper ball, filled with paragraphs of their fight if they weren't caught by Mori earlier, at Chuuya's head. Of course, Dazai wins that fight.
Chuuya raises a middle finger towards him before throwing multiple paper balls filled with different drawings of Dazai being defeated by Chuuya. "Take this!"
"Hey! That's unfair!" Dazai shouted before throwing back every paper ball that he was hit with. He even started using the work sheet he was working on just to have more ammunition against Chuuya.
"You're the one that's unfair! Nullifying abilities? Get real!" Chuuya screamed as he launched different school supplies towards Dazai.
"Ha! You're just being a sore loser that you didn't think of that first!" Dazai gloated as he used his bag as a shield. He reached into his pocket to take out a paper ball with Chuuya's drawing on it, with Chuuya’s forged handwriting, before throwing it at Randou’s table.
Randou, stirring up from his accidental nap, reached out to open the crumpled paper on top of his students' activity sheets. He had a neutral expression on his face when he opened up the paper to read the contents.
Both Dazai and Chuuya were staring at him, frozen in place, probably not breathing anymore.
"You two," Randou started as he put down the paper, looking at Chuuya who was about to throw scissors towards Dazai and Dazai who was about to body slam Chuuya with his bag. "Where's the activity that you were tasked to do?"
"Well…" Chuuya stammered, hiding his hands behind his back while still holding the scissors. "I was already working on it."
Dazai put down his bag before pointing his finger at Chuuya. "Chuuya ate my activity!"
"WHAT?!"
Randou just sighed before putting his head in his hands, ignoring the two students who are about to beat each other up. He shouldn't have volunteered to look after the detention class today if he knew it was going to be Chuuya and Dazai.
And if Mori passed by the detention class and saw Chuuya choking Dazai while Randou was contemplating his whole life, he never said anything about it.
