Work Text:
Bunny had known Sae a whole year now, yet he never really never “knew” him—until two days ago where Sae had finally invited him to his apartment—to watch movies and hang out. And of course he happily accepted, who wouldn’t? Bunny naturally thought Sae would want to watch an action movie or maybe even horror, hell even a noir film would have matched the red head better. But no what they actually watched was a cartoon about a school girl’s every day life. Which in all honesty wasn’t that bad if only it weren’t in full Japanese.
Yes he had watched multiple episodes of this Japanese girl enjoying life a lot more than him. And Sae…he was just sitting on the floor completely captivated with the cute show. And Bunny couldn’t stop watching him and wondering why Sae was being so damn adorable.
He kept thinking that this wasn’t the ruthless football player he knew. And you probably thought he couldn’t get more ridiculous than that, except Sae had a nag of proving him utterly wrong on every turn.
Hours had passed with them watching chibi Maruko-Chan, and eating snacks. So now it was midnight, and Sae was tired.
Now Bunny is a simple person, the only thing he does before doing to bed was brush his teeth and sleep in underwear, but Sae had shown him that he was nothing but lazy when he pulled up with his ten step skincare routine and full set of pink PJ’s, yes you heard that right ten steps of moisturizer, oil drops, lotion, and a face mask that he also made Bunny wear. At this point of the night, Bunny had just accepted his fate and glanced at the boy who had a nice toned body from doing sports his whole life put on a pink shirt with matching pink pants.
It was truly amazing and maybe even a little lethal to Bunny poor eyes. But that now brings us back to the present where Bunny and Sae are practicing with the other Re Al Madrid players.
Bunny passed to Sae, and watched him score with a perfect left curve. “Nice goal” Bunny exclaimed, running over to pat the other’s back. “Thanks. Um do you want to come over again?” Sae muttered under his breath, attempting to be as quiet as possible. Bunny’s eyes widened in shock before being overwhelmed with the red head’s cute expression. He wanted to squeeze Sae’s red soft cheeks until he couldn’t feel his hands anymore.
Snapping out of his delusion, Bunny finally spoke up and once again happily accepted the offer with far too much enthusiasm than intended. Sae’s lips twitched a bit upward before turning back to his less cute indifferent face. But even that made Bunny hop a few steps closer to hugging the life out of the smaller boy.
Training ended with plenty of time to spare before heading over to Sae’s apartment. That also meant dragging Sae to an arcade that wasn’t far from the stadium. “Come on, there so many games” Bunny appalled, stalking around the multiple games that glittered under neon lights. “Yeah, yeah” Sae replied in a melancholy tone, masking his excitement to the place.
They walked around for a few minutes before Sae’s eyes landed on a claw machine stuffed with seagull plushies. He stopped in an instant and approached the metal box and put his palms on the glass. Bunny stared at the scene and screamed internally. How could his cold teammate get even cuter under a few hours especially someone like the Japanese boy. “You want that Sae?” Bunny asked in an almost teasing manner. The red head simply ignored him and pulled out a coin and rolled it into the machine. The first attempt failed spectacularly as the claw barely gazed the plush. Sae didn’t react and drew another coin from his pocket. The second time was better as the claw actually gripped the stuffed animal but it once again slipped and came back with nothing.
Sae grew frustrated as his money slowly emptied out after his tenth attempt. And Bunny stood still. just enjoying the show as he saw Sae pout with each fail. The red head looked so freaking adorable with his lower lip slightly sticking out and his brow curled downward in concentration. Two coins after had Sae officially run out of money and his face fell a little. Bunny felt his heart ache at the sight and sighed. “Here you can have mine” Bunny said, handing over his bag of coins to the red head. Sae stared at him in near silence before accepting the bag and mumbled a small thanks.
Victory came later as Sae tried five more times before he finally got the seagull plushie in his possession. Bunny observed the way the red head hugged the plush to his chest and turned to face him. “We can go now” achievement sparkled in his teal eyes, with under lashes looking just as pretty. Bunny wished he could just crush him like a squishy and let him inflate again, so he could do it over and over again. His fingers twitched, daring to at least touch his teammate’s adorable face. “Yup let’s go” Bunny forced out.
Okay maybe Bunny was being a little over dramatic about the whole situation. Maybe Sae wasn’t that cute and he had just imagined the entire thing because he was sleep deprived or something. There is no way the meanest person Bunny has been in the presence of is actually a cutie in disguise right?
Bunny came back to reality as he heard a meow echo out. Both of them turned their heads to be greeted with a gray fluffy cat staring at the two like it demanded attention. Bunny was about to ignore it and keep walking but Sae had different plans as he crouched down in front of the cat and started patting it like it owed him money. Bunny glared at the display and instantly saw the resemblance that attacked his heart in all kinds of ways. Itoshi Sae was indeed a cutie in disguise.
“Bunny give me your half eaten sandwich” Sae demanded, reaching out his hand to the taller boy. Hypnotized by the sight Bunny almost gave it but remembered that it was his food. “WHAT NO, you can’t just give my sandwich to that thing!” Bunny argued hiding the food behind his back. If it came down to life and death, Bunny wouldn’t hesitate to die for Sae, if he so asked, but his food was off limits. He was a growing boy with an appetite on par with a hundred man—how dare Sae ask him to give up the most precious thing in his possession. “Tch, I just want the meat and she’s not a thing, stupid” Sae grumbled, waving his hand again.
But Bunny wouldn’t budge. “No” he huffed Turing his gaze away from Sae so to not fall for the cute grumpy expression on the red head’s face. “Fine! What do you want, for the damn piece of meat you lukewarm rodent?” Bunny perked up and really thought about the offer. He weighed the options—the most important thing in a sandwich or five minutes of hugging Sae with his consent. Who was he kidding the latter was a far better trade. “Okay i’ll give it, if you let me hug you for five minutes when we’re watching that cartoon at your place” Bunny exclaimed in confidence while locking eyes with the red head.
Sae groaned and took the sandwich from Bunny’s tight grasp. The lavender haired gazed at Sae with curiosity and felt a familiar ache posses his body. He quickly snapped a photo without the other boy’s knowledge and hid his phone as they began walking towards the apartment again. “Now that I think about it, I’ve never seen you smile, aren’t you happy?” Bunny remarked getting the red head’s attention. Sae didn’t respond for a moment and glanced at the sunset. “You don’t have to smile to be happy, Some people just smile in their heart. I do when I win something I really wanted or when I pet a cute cat or when I hang out with a close friend” Bunny’s heart pounded hard, the urge to embrace the stoic boy nearly overtook his rational thinking.
They soon reached the rich apartment building. Contrary to Sae’s actual personality his living place looked rather boring, there were white curtains framing the windows and a large black couch in front of a TV, but Bunny somehow had a feeling like, if it were up the Japanese boy, the entire house would be decorated with pink colors and seagull march everywhere. But that was only a feeling not something he outright was positive about. Bunny set on the floor with Sae once again and watched chibi Maruko-Chan in pure Japanese, and yes he still didn’t understand a thing they were saying. He glanced beside him and saw Sae hugging the plush tightly and remembered the boy’s promise.
“You were supposed to hug me not the bird” Bunny grumbled while wrapping his arms around his legs and resting his chin on his knees. It was a stupid trade anyway, why did he ever think Sae would actually touch him. “You’re such a big baby” Sae muttered, and pulled Bunny into a tight embrace. Sae enclosed his arms around the other’s neck and laid his head on lavender hair. Bunny set on the floor petrified with his heart leaping out of his chest. It was surprising how he hadn’t gotten a heart attack from all the chest pains today that the Japanese boy caused without knowing. Bunny quickly regained composure and hugged the boy close around his waist. “You smell good” Bunny mumbled and earned himself a flick on the forehead.
They continued hugging each other the entire way through the episodes until Bunny let a yawn out indicating he’s sleepy. “I’ll get your extra duvet ready, so go wash up” Sae remarked, standing up from their comfortable position and heading to the other room. It felt cold without the red head in his embrace but Bunny shrugged off the feeling and slowly lifted himself up from the floor and began getting ready until he heard a loud noise ring out from the where Sae was. “What was that” Bunny asked loudly so Sae could hear him. “Just a song ignore it” Sae yelled back but Bunny couldn’t just ignore, since when did the red head listen to music?
He quietly tip toed his way to where Sae’s phone was and sneaked a peek but nothing suspicious was on it. But suddenly a Japanese song started Playing As he was about to leave, he instantly looked back and saw someone calling…the calming sweet song was Sae’s ringtone. Bunny could not believe this was happening right now. Sae’s cuteness level had just skyrocketed through the roof and Bunny was completely shell shocked. “Why did I never know you had a song as a ringtone?” The lavender haired exclaimed in disbelief as he faced the ever stoic Sae. “I always turn the sound off before practice because it’s distracting” Sae sighed tired and exhausted.
“What’s it about?” Bunny questioned curiously and a little excited while taking the duvet from the shorter boy. “It’s about a girl on her way to confess her feelings to her crush” Bunny finally cracked and squeezed the duvet in a death grip so not to do it to Sae. His blood pumped faster as his jaw felt tight from holding back a huge smile.
Sae made the bed and called Bunny over. The red head was once again in his pink set and waited for Bunny to arrive so he could shut the lights. The taller boy made his way to the bedroom and lay on the right side of the rather small bed, so small that the two boys arms touched which wasn’t a problem for Bunny whatsoever.
The lights flickered shut as the lavender haired felt Sae get closer to him. “I had fun today thanks” Sae whispered softly and closed his eyes to a peaceful sleep unlike Bunny who was freaking out about what just happened. Did Sae actually say that or was he dreaming? There was simply no reality that Bunny would have imagined that someone like Sae was this incredibly cute.
“Oh dear lord why is my midfielder so cute?”
