Chapter Text
Chase was already five beers deep when he waved down the bartender.
“Keep them coming.”
“Long day?” the bartender asked, grabbing a glass from under the counter. Chase chuckled lightly, drunk smile touching the corner of his lips.
“You have no idea.”
The bartender smiled, placing another beer in front of Chase. Chase took it, hands missing the glass by half an inch before he found it.
“You really shouldn’t drive like this,” the bartender said, pointing his chin at Chase’s car keys, which were sitting idly near his elbow. Chase picked them up and handed them to the bartender.
“I’ll call Foreman. Don’t let m’drive.”
The bartender took the keys with a nod, placing them in the drawer of the cash register. Chase clumsily pulled out his phone. He pressed Foreman’s contact, ringing him and putting the phone to his ear.
“Hello?” came Foreman’s voice from the other end of the phone. “Chase, it’s 10 PM. Is it about the patient? I thought you went home hours ago.”
“’m at the bar on 1 E Mantua Avenue. I’ve had a…few drinks. Prob’ly shouldn’t drive. Can you come get me..?” Chase slurred into the phone. There was a heavy sigh from Foreman’s end.
“I’m not your uber, Chase.”
“Please?”
“…Fine. Do not vomit on the upholstery,” Foreman sighed again before disconnecting the call.
“Your boyfriend coming to get you?” the bartender leaned his hip against the counter.
“Not my boyfrien’” Chase slurred. “Jus’ a colleague.”
“Right. Well, you’re a good looking guy. If you ever wanna, you know—”
“Thanks, but I’m straight.”
“Mhm.”
Chase leaned his head down onto the counter, letting out a content, drunk sigh.
