Work Header

even hell i’m down (all i want is you)

Summary:

A frown tugs at the corners of Jett’s mouth as his mind drifts to thoughts of Eugene. He missed hearing his little laugh or seeing his sneaky glances towards him every once in a while. What does he even do in that school besides play Super Smash Bros with the boys on his floor? Jett suddenly sits up, stars in his eyes as a legendary epiphany struck him like lightning—he could sneak into Eugene’s boarding school! His fist hits the desk happily, a grin gracing his face.

The problem is…where would he get a uniform? Would he be seen? He doubted many others in that stupid boarding school would have kickass pink hair or badass piercings like his. Oh, well. The odds said hell fucking yeah.

OR

Jett’s clingy ass can’t go hours without Eugene and so, he sneaks into his boarding school.

Work Text:

If Jett could describe his day so far, he’d say it was pure boredom. Nobody was responding to his usual rage baiting and now he’s stuck spinning in a chair mindlessly chewing gum. Ezra and PJ are busy doing their own thing—whatever that means. Lian was stuck at her home with her mother, probably baking cookies or something. Jason would be doing uncle stuff as usual and Eugene would be at his boarding school. It’d be hours until all of them could meet again and he clearly wasn’t willing to wait that long.

Jett hums a random Green Day song under his breath as he snags a nearby, unattended uniform from some poor boy who’d eventually get yelled at by the staff or something. The uniform is something that Jett wouldn’t be caught dead wearing in public, but if this is the lengths he has to take to see Eugene? So be it. Besides, it is quite the thrilling situation to be in. He even bought a new backpack with two notebooks that he won’t even use to fit the part!

He takes a stroll around the school, eyeing the fancy architecture. It’s almost like a university. “Huh…” he mutters to himself, almost whistling as he slips inside a random English class that smells like cozy autumn sweaters and caramel macchiatos. Jett surveys the amount of people seated in the room and he frowns when he doesn’t see Eugene’s familiar face—or, in this case, for he’s sitting in the back, the back of his head. Why does Jett know what the back of Eugene’s head looks like? Don’t ask him.

Jett bites his pencil before reluctantly doing schoolwork for a school he’s not even on the roster for. It was quite easy—Shakespeare, old English and whatnot. Romeo and Juliet and blah, blah, blah. What was the theme of Romeo and Juliet? Easy! Teen sex kills. Listen to your parents, maybe. Don’t get married to a stranger you meet just this week. What did Juliet mean by “a rose by any other name would be as sweet”? Super easy. Juliet wanted Romeo’s cookie so bad even if it was forbidden! Of course, Jett never actually wrote any of that down. Well, he did. Just more…academically and professionally.

His foot taps as he listens to kids taking turns slowly reading the lines. Jett almost groans as he overhears the occasional dumb kid stuttering or mispronouncing the most easiest words ever. It was absolutely absurd—your rich parents send you to a nice boarding school and in return, you can’t even pronounce ‘heir’ or ‘analyze’? Oh, if only Eugene were here…

For once in his life, Jett is patient for some kids to turn in their papers instead of him being the first. To keep himself busy, he’s occasionally doodling on his paper. The usual red bat or cool S symbol. Now, he wasn’t quite the artist, but he found himself doodling a small sketch of Eugene. A small smile tugs at the edges of his lips as he adds little hearts and sparkles.

The bell for passing period rings and it feels like heaven, music to Jett’s ears. He slings his backpack over his shoulder and walks out to scope out more classrooms. The hallways are filled with the cacophony of laughter and gossip, along with lockers opening and closing. Jett rolls his eyes as he’s stuck behind a hell of slow walkers and all he wants to do is to get to that vending machine at the end of the hall. He’d get two mountain dews—not that Jett wants one right now, but as a surprise gift for Eugene when they eventually run into each other.

And speaking of the devil, Eugene walks upstairs with his friends, laughing hard about some random inside joke. As soon as they turn the corner, he freezes instantly, a small shocked gasp leaving his lips. He does a triple take, seeing familiar hot pink hair lurking within the hallways. “Oh, no.”

“What is it?”

“Oh, no…” Eugene mumbles, his eyes squinting as Jett from across the hall. “What the fuck!?” He was missing his trademark neon glasses and, to top it all off,  he’s wearing the school uniform. A light blush instantly coats Eugene’s face— he wouldn’t deny it… Jett looks very nice in the uniform. “Ummm…I’ll be right back.”

“Huh?”

Eugene ignores his very confused friends and walks over to Jett, already glaring. “You don’t even go here!”

Jett simply turns around with a dumb grin. “Oh, there you are! I was looking all over for you.” He enjoyed watching Eugene stammer for a response. “I was in English earlier. We’re learning Shakespeare, did you miss that?” He snickers.

“Why would I miss learning Shakespeare? Also, you shouldn’t be here!” Eugene exclaims.  “You—you…ugh!”

“I what?” Jett teasingly says, tilting his head.  “Say it, Mr. Shazam.”

“You are so impossible!” Eugene rolls his eyes as he drags a smiling Jett by the uniform tie over to a random supply closet.

“Oh, woah, take me to dinner first,” Jett jokes, setting his backpack down. Eugene is busy angrily tapping his foot with his arms crossed. “Don’t you wanna know the lengths I took to see you again?”

Eugene sighs, biting back his insults. “Go on…”

“I bought a new backpack,” Jett tilts his head as he zips open said backpack. “And, I even got you these!” He pulls out a fancy bouquet of lilies and sunflowers with a bow. “Perfect, right?”

“I—” Eugene stammers, his ears slowly turning red. “You did not…”

“Oh, but I did! And besides… the odds said there is a hundred percent chance of you liking these.”

Eugene shakes his head, putting his backpack down. It clanks loudly as it makes contact with the checkered floor.

Jett blinks. “What the fuck do you have in there?”

Eugene shrugs his shoulders, still playfully frowning. “I dunno. Just kiss me already, bro.”

Bro?” Jett feigns offense, his hand on his heart. “We’re having a romantic moment right now, and all you can call me is bro?”

“Shut up!” Eugene hisses, insistently tugging on the front of Jett’s shirt.

“Alright, alright…” Jett sighs, lifting Eugene up by the shelves. Random cleaning supplies stumble onto the ground. “So impatient. You’re basically hurting me.”

“Where?” Eugene tilts his head as he wraps his legs around Jett’s waist. “Are you actually hurt, Jett? Or are you lying?” He almost gives Jett a deadpan expression.

Jett jokingly frowns as he points to his heart. “In here.” He almost snickers as he sees Eugene glaring at him. “Wanna kiss it better?”

“You already know—”

Jett interrupts Eugene with a single kiss, followed by several other kisses. His hand drops to hold Eugene’s leg, propping him further against the shelves while his other hand caresses the left side of his face.

“I missed you,” Jett murmurs in between kisses.

“You couldn’t have waited for the Titans to meet up?”

“Like fuck I’m waiting that long,” he rolls his eyes.

The bell rings. Eugene’s eyes widened—he swore he had more time to talk to Jett during passing period. He didn’t expect a spectacular, over-the-top make out session in a random supply closet that’s probably infested with ants. He expected a bit of rage baiting here and there… anything but this.

“I’m gonna be late for algebra—” Eugene blurts out.

Jett pulls back slightly. “You can miss a little bit of algebra...right?”

“I can’t!” Eugene exclaims before deeply thinking about the positives and the negatives. He’d be able to stay with Jett for much more longer and he’s sure that his grade wouldn’t make much of a hit from one skipped period. Matter of fact, he can play it off like Jett was an actual new student and he got lost on the way to algebra! However, his friends would notice Jett. Or the teacher could be feeling smart today instead of feeling stupid and actually check the roster for his name. Eugene sighs and leans his head back against a metal shelf. “Fine. Maybe I can.”

Or the teacher would just flat out realize that Jett doesn’t even attend this school. Either one was worse. And, to top it all off, the teacher will fucking call Eugene’s family because he skipped class. What’s his excuse? Oh, sorry guys, I skipped class to make out with my boyfriend in a closet? Freddy would fucking lose his shit!

Jett’s greedy ass leans in for another kiss just before the doorknob jingles. He sighs, squinting at the door. Eugene’s heart drops all the way down to his stomach. And this is how his school reputation would end—being caught up against the shelves in a closet next to his boyfriend. He takes several quick breaths, impending for the door to open—instead, someone’s big fat head hits the door.

“What was that!?” Eugene hisses, his gaze switching from the door to Jett.

“Uh… I increased the probability of them slipping and hitting their head?” Jett shrugs, not sorry in the least.

“You can’t just do that.”

“I can, actually,” Jett says, quickly pressing a kiss to Eugene’s lips. His head ducks down to his neck to pepper small kisses, feeling Eugene sharply shiver by the slightest bit.

“Do not do that without warning me,” Eugene mumbles, slowly turning red as a cherry tomato.

“Aw. Why?” Jett teasingly asks, tugging the collar of Eugene’s uniform down, his other hand lightly squeezing his leg.

“Because—oh, my God, you’re so insufferable! You’re gonna wrinkle my uniform!”

“You’re already wrinkling mine,” Jett says, referring to Eugene’s clingy hands gripping onto the front of his uniform. “Why don’t you care about my uniform, huh?”

“I—ugh…” Eugene groans, rolling his eyes as Jett leaves marks and kisses to his collarbone. His breath quickens, his dilated eyes widening and his heart races as he feels Jett’s lips brush against his skin.

“You still wanna go to algebra?” Jett murmurs, tilting his head to the side.

“Fuck no,” Eugene breathes, practically dizzy.

Jett just snickers quietly, kissing Eugene’s jawline. “Bet your teacher’s devastated that their best student isn't in class…”

“Mhm…” Eugene mumbles as Jett fixes his collar.

“You’re not listening to a word I say, are you?”

Eugene shakes his head. “Not really…”

“Am I that distracting?”

“Shut up!” Eugene sighs, reluctantly pushing Jett and letting his feet touch the ground again.

“Had enough of me now?” Jett asks, stepping back.

“Not exactly,” Eugene huffs. “Class comes first.”

“Sure… you totally didn’t skip algebra because of me.”

“Drop it, Jett!” Eugene groans while picking up his heavy ass backpack.

“Never,” Jett smugly grins, slinging his own backpack around his shoulders. “Now, where are we going exactly?”

“History,” Eugene hums as he opens the closet door. “If you’re going to sneak into my school to see me, you’re doing work with me, too.”

“Alright, alright, bossy.”

They shuffle into the hallway, merging in with slow walkers and people who block the hallways with their nonsensical large friend groups. Jett heavily sighs as he fights the urge to push his way through several kids. But, since Eugene is here, he might as well behave.

The pair sits in the back of history class with the teacher intensely staring at them, his eyes squinting. Eugene nervously swallows as the teacher comes marching towards them. He probably looks so disheveled!

“And where have you been for the last period?”

Eugene freezes. “Oh, I was just,” he pauses, gesturing to Jett. “Showing the new kid around the school! Since I’m nice like that, haha… I promise it won’t happen again.”

Jett just waves. “Hi, sir.”

The teacher glances at Jett, questioning his entire attire—from his bright pink hair to his piercings and down to his already scuffed shoes. “And who might you be?”

“Umm…” He hums. “Jett Blitz…?”

The teacher gives Jett a skeptical look. “Are you sure that’s your real name?”

Jett nods. “‘Course.”

“Well, I don’t see a ‘Jett Blitz’ on my roster.”

“Oh, well, um…Maybe it takes some time, y’know. I transferred today, sir,” Jett shrugs his shoulders like he knows what he’s talking about.

“Transferred from where?”

Jett fights the urge to roll his eyes at the next invasive question. “Gotham Academy.” He flashes a smile and, fortunately, the teacher eventually walks away.

“You went to Gotham Academy?” Eugene whispers.

“No,” Jett snickers, obviously lying.  “I went to, uh… Gotham Heights or something other. I don’t know and frankly, I don’t care.”

Eugene just shrugs as soon as the lesson starts. The teacher rants about champa rice and the Song Dynasty all from years ago. Jett taps his pencil on the desk as the teacher drones on about how great champa rice was for China and blah, blah, blah. All he can focus on is Eugene, anyway.

The teacher calls on some poor kid to read a passage out loud and they instantly stutter when they see a simple word—“haphazardly”.

Jett leans in. “How the hell did they manage to get into this class?”

“Shut up,” Eugene almost snickers. “You’re being ridiculous.

“Um, boys! Quiet!” The teacher snaps. “Sorry, read again. Louder this time.”

“Sorry, sir!” Jett jokingly calls out. “Won’t happen again.”

“I’ll make sure of that,” The teacher nods while passing out worksheets.

Jett sighs as he stares down at the blank piece of work. “You understand any of this?”

“‘Course I do. I’m just smarter than you,” Eugene proudly grins as his pencil dances across the paper.

“How badass,” Jett murmurs, his right hand finding its way to Eugene’s thigh. He fumbles writing with his left hand for about ten seconds before getting the hang of it.

“You’re left handed?” Eugene asks, glancing over with a puzzled look.

“Not exactly…” Jett mumbles while writing some random, correct bullshit on the paper.

Hours pass like usual and Jett ends up going to the rest of Eugene’s smartass classes. They spent half of biology goofing off and accidentally starting a fire. During PE, they’d catch a volleyball while Jett would ragebait, causing Eugene to aim the ball right at his nose. Oh, well, at least he wasn’t bored now. Jett would normally think to dread something as despairful as school…but everything is better when Eugene is there with him.

They return to the safehouse hand in hand, all smiles and giggles. Ezra furrows his brows as he sees Jett enter behind Eugene, wearing the same uniform.

“…why are you wearing that?” Ezra asks.

“Why do you have a big ass forehead?” Jett snickers.

“What!? Okay, whatever, forget about it,” Ezra huffs.

Jett hums while taking out the bouquet of flowers he bought Eugene in a random vase he stole from Jason. He sets it in the middle of the table, tying the bow around the vase.

“Perfect!” Jett snickers.

“You’re impossible,” Eugene sighs.

“You know you love me.”

“Do I know that for sure? Yes, yes I do.”
