Work Text:
I was 8 when my parents fostered my sister and I lost my parents,
but she needed them, so I tried to accept it.
I was 9 when I realized she didn't want me as a sister,
but she was more important than me, so I let it happen.
I was 10 when I needed my parents,
but my brother needed them more, so I stayed quiet.
I was 11 when I started losing my friends one by one,
but I was taught no one in my family would help.
I was 12 when I made a toxic best friend,
because she was a person who wanted to be in the same room as me.
I was 13 when I started to cut her off,
but I had no one else, so I stayed for longer than I should have.
I was 14 when I hid in my room,
because I was taught that no one was going to care and I wasn't going to make them.
I was 14 1/2 when I self-harmed to remind myself I had feelings;
that I was alive, real.
I was almost 15 when I realized doing something that could do something that ends badly wihtout it being the end of the world
I was 15 when I realized it was okay to "make" someone care about me.
It was okay to want to be seen.
