The firework incident

Summary:

Contextually, this is how my humanstuck Vriska loses her arm and eye.

Actual summary, it’s the day after new years and Vriska goes looking for some discarded fireworks to light off, accompanied by Terezi who’s only there to keep an eye on her. Stupidity ensues, Vriska accidentally blows herself up. Terezi calls an ambulance.

Notes:

(I’ve had to re-enter all the information for this fic THREE TIMES NOW because my device kept crashing on me. I’m so fucking tired.)

I can’t believe this is gonna be my first homestuck fic, holy shit.

I’m aware this fic is a little ridiculous, bear with me. It’s meant as backstory for some of the longer humanstuck fics I’m currently working on. There will be Vrisrezi eventually, just not in this fic, lol.

(See the end of the work for more notes.)

Chapter 1: !!!BOOM!!!

Chapter Text

Vriska was scouring the remains of yesterday’s new year’s celebrations, looking for some leftover unused fireworks to light.
Terezi followed a bit further behind her. She only came with Vriska to try and desuade her from doing anything stupid.

Vriska finds a decently sized firework and takes a lighter out of her jacket. “You think the fuse will last long enough for me to put it back down?” She holler’s over to Terezi, as she holds it close to her face, examining it.

“Oh I don’t think-“
It’s too late Vriska lit the fire work and threw down the lighter. The fuse disappears frighteningly fast.
!!!BOOM!!!

Terezi looks away and instinctively protects her face.
Vriska was holding the firework when it went off, she was blown to the ground, her left arm took the majority of the blast, it was violently torn apart and ripped from her body, the left side of her face was burned almost beyond recognition. She let out a screech in agony.

Terezi ran to Vriska’s side. “I- I’ll call an ambulance, I’m gonna get you help.” She said frantically. She was trying to stay calm but the gruesome scene in front of her made it difficult.
She grabbed her phone from her pocket and dialed 911. As she waited for the dispatcher to pick up, she murmured reassurances “you’re gonna be okay, I’m gonna make sure you’re okay, everything will be okay.” more for herself than Vriska, who probably couldn’t hear them over the ringing in her ears and the sounds of her own screams and cries of agony.

The dispatcher picked up -“911 what’s your emergency?”

“My friend- she blew up! She lit a firework in her hand and it went off.” Terezi was sobbing into the phone at this point.

-“We’ll have an ambulance dispatched to your location. Can you discribe the extent of the injuries?”

“Her arm- it’s gone, and and her face is really burned on one side.” Terezi said.
She continued speaking with the operator until the paramedics arrived.
