Chapter Text
Yet again he fled away from a missile that had been directed in his direction. The explosion near him sent him flying a bit too hard into the roof.
His shoulder and back collided abruptly with the hard surface. He groaned out in pain slightly, as he rolled the jump off. At least less damage this way, but it still hurt a lot. To his luck the roof hadn’t been pitched but flat, making the fall not easier, but harder.
„Green, are you okay over there?!“ Blue shouted over coms as he had been flying around near the scene. His sparkly, modern kind of jet springing into any eyes who looked up to the sky.
„Fine.“ The Green Ninja forced out between his teeth, biting the pain away. „Just focus on your jobs guys!“ he called out to all the other Ninjas. He was sure it was going to bruise black and blue later on. He wasn’t going to tell that to his team, after all he was their leader and they were mid fight, so bad timing.
He couldn’t stay in the same spot too long, as he saw new explosives being launched after him. So he started to run over the roof’s and jump and flip over them. They did look menacingly in the sky, especially when they flew into your direction. The boy was surely being chased by them, and he was sick of it. After all, it happened, every, single, time. Fire sparking at their ends that catapulted them into the skies so easily. Then the grey of the metal, way too serious colour, but also easy to blend in. In other words everything about it screamed, a not nice surprise. And that was underestimating it.
He definitely regretted, having attacked Garmadon and then, leaving his mechanic dragon behind while fleeing. Missiles and his mech flew, big difference? Definitely. His looked majestic and was there to help. The other things, were only there to destroy and cause chaos.
„You sure you don’t need any help over there?“ a voice called out to him on coms. A voice that was way too chill, to even sound like he was bothering with the fight.
„Yup, all good over here, Black!“ Lloyd called out, as he jumped over the roof, as he saw the mech of the Black Ninja driving between the buildings. „As said, just focus on your guys‘ tasks!“ he called out.
It wasn’t for long till the silence got broken again, but this time by complaining.
„Gosh, why is he shooting so many missiles today?! Everywhere I go i nearly get shot! And that is saying a lot, as I’m in the water!“ Cyan called out sounding annoyed. She was usually more composed than this, but today it was really reaching her limit.
„Tell me about it.“ Red’s voice was heard over coms sighing annoyed, „his men are really in fight mode today, for once.“
„Ha, so much about a fast fight- AH!“ You could heat Blue’s voice panicked as the others saw him dodge a missile in the air.
Red chuckled „That surely sent a shock through your body,“ he said sounding satisfied with his joke, „get it?“
It was a payback for earlier, as Blue had been blabbering their heads off at the quarters. The place where they stored all their mechs and close to it trained every week. Of course their teacher being, Sensei Wu.
A more monotone voice cut through the conversation „Actually, even if it sent some adrenaline through Blue’s body. It is not medically defined as a shock, but as a rapid release of hormones.“ White explained throughoughly like always, instead of understanding the joke.
An annoyed groan went through „It’s a…joke I-, White. You know a wordplay…because Blue is electrifying. Nevermind, just forget it.“ Red muttered waving his hand even when no one was seeing it. „Thanks for the information then, White“
„You’re welcome!“ White sounded content, to have helped somehow. Probably thinking that he clarified what hormones and Adrenaline really are.
„If someone could take care of Garmadon’s guys in the south part of where I’m at, it would be nice.“ Their leader calls out to the others, cutting off the jokes with a more serious tone. Some days he liked joking around with his teammates too, also joining in, in some jokes. Other days, or more specific, other fights he didn’t have time for it and needed to coordinate the team around.
He continued „I’m gonna-“, his words get cut off, by his own groan. He rolled over a roof, practically falling onto it mid jump limply. Of course it had been an explosion aimed at him. His ears were ringing, it probably came from the explosions and his teammate‘s worried call outs.
He coughed out as he slowly pushed himself up from the roof’s floor that had now debris on there too. The missile broke another roof slightly and pieces of it flew onto the one where Green fell. He could feel the hard little rocks biting into the gi and with that, the pain into his arms and hands too. He had lost his sword in the mid of the chaos. Flew out of his hands, somewhere else, maybe to the floor or another roof. If it came to his worst theory he made up in some seconds, it got blasted away by the missile.
A leader with no exact element, against a powerful enemy with no sword?
Would be fun.
Who was he kidding? It was going to be horrible.
So much about trying to stay optimistic on his mom’s and Wu’s words.
As the raucous sound slowly subsided, he heard an evil laugh behind him. Green pushed himself up rapidly, ignoring the pain. He staggered up and got into a fight position as Lord Garmadon showed up through the smoke. The ninja coughed slightly, but glared at the evil man.
„Well, well Green Ninja, so we see us again. Like every fight.“ The dark lord said and rolled his eyes. He waved his hand that held a weapon around, in a bored way. „It does get a bit tiring, no?“
„Just leave!“ He exclaimed, „You ain’t winning this time, or any time! So what are you tying to do, huh!?“ the powerful ninja retorted. His ears were still ringing but he ignored it. He looked around for his sword and found it on the other side of the roof. Just to his luck it had flown out of his hand, mid explosion and slid far away from him.
Garmadon smirked at the sight „Not so powerful now, Green Ninja.“ The swordless Ninja ran across the roof to grab his sword, as Garmadon jumped and attacked him with his own sword. The blade glimmered in the sunlight, reflecting all the marvelous material that had been used to produce it. It could have fallen into better hands, but of course it was in Garmadon’s hands.
Thankfully the saviour reached his sword, as Garmadon struck his down. He was slightly crouched, as he didn’t have the chance to stand up properly. He glared up, as all his force went into holding the sword up - over his head - against the other one. His arms shook as he struggled to take on such force. Both swords made a nasty clank, when they clashed against each other. „That’s all you’ve got?“ the Green Ninja huffs with a strained jaw. It was a bad position, as Garmadon did have the upper hand.
„Oh I’m only starting“ the red eyed guy answered.
It ended up turning into a sword fight. The Green Ninja finally stood up entirely, after taking the chance, where Garmadon raised his sword. Both swords sliced through the air with no hesitation or worry.
Both had exactly one goal — to win. The stealthy ninja took a sidestep, in order to avoid being struck by his opponent’s sword. The enemy didn’t back down at all. He struck, struck and struck his sword multiple times, non-stop. It was tiring. Dodging and only blocking them all the time, instead of being able to attack.
Lloyd was so busy defendind that he hadn’t noticed, another sword coming to struck him. Garmadon was holding a second one in one of his other three free hands. He, only avoided it, by jumping out of the way, on some uneven part of the roof, that seemed like it had broken slightly, due to the earlier explosions. He was slightly wobbly on his feet.
Yet, he raised his sword and jumped over to Garmadon, ready to strike. His attack was defended by Garmadon, who looked like he had already expected this move.
It wasn’t for long till both of them, lost one sword each by the next strikes. Lloyd kicked the last sword that had been in Garmadon’s hand away „Let’s play fair now, sha‘ll we?“ he said panting shakily.
He, the Green Ninja, Lloyd garmadon – not like anyone knew who he really was under the mask – had really disarmed, Garmadon so easily.
„My pleasure.“ Was all he heard before he felt a harsh blow on his diaphragm. He groaned out, stumbling back a bit as he held a hand up to the spot. It was a punctual pain that sent shocks through his body. Garmadon did have a lot of force in his arms.
Even as a ninja with training, these punches weren’t easy to take. He panted hard trying to get some air into his lungs but it wasn’t helping much. The air was ejected out of his body, too fast and too violent. The waiting was pure agony.
Just such little moment of distraction, meant that he could be hit again. As he tried to concentrate and look up, he already felt a kick. He had distanced himself slightly, when he was trying to breathe. Natural reaction, but bad decision as Garmadon had more free space to strike him. It wiped him clearly off his feet, as he landed harshly against the floor.
He let out an involuntarily pained groan. Definitely a beginner mistake, to distance himself from the person he was fighting with.
He coughed outloud and inhaled air shakily, not like it was really working. He glared up weakly. He really couldn’t use some panicking now, as he was gasping and wheezing pathetically. His posture was hunched over himself as he tried to calm down. Before he could push himself up – or even get to breathe – he got picked up by the collar of his gi. He tried to deliver a kick, that was usually more powerful. He ended up kicking the air, it couldn’t even be called kick as his legs hadn’t really moved.
Garmadon only laughed at that sight. „Well, not so tough anymore huh?“ He didn’t even seem bothered that the Ninja was so close to him. Was Lloyd really this weak right now? „Well it was fun now, Green Ninja, but I’ve got things to do.“ he said as he threw Lloyd over the edge of the roof.
Lloyd wanted to scream outloud, but it was impossible.
„Green!“ His teammates yelled out. He had been too focused on the fight, he had tuned out the others completely. Now that he was falling, and there was nothing else to focus on, he could hear them.
He really thought he was going to fall to the floor. Just directly. Some small splat. Who was he kidding? He really didn’t want his thoughts to feel all distorted. Especially after being punched in the diaphragm and then falling off the building. Better said, thrown off. It was always his luck, to get into the worst situations possible.
He was caught by the Blue Ninja flying by.
„Thanks.“ Green rasped out, after a bit as he finally caught his breath. Blue gave him a worried, but satisfied look with himself that he had caught their leader. Lloyd was happy that his breath was coming back to him slowly.
„Got him guys!“ Blue called out to the others. „So, want me to bring you back to the quarters?“ he asked, as he flew over the city.
„No. Just give me two minutes“, the green Ninja said still out of breath, „god what a punch“ he mutters under his breath. „Drop me off near my mech. That should be enough.“ he calls out to Blue
„Green are you sure? That punch wasn’t soft-“ Blue gets cut off by Green, „Yes. I’m fine, I can continue. Just drop me off over there. I ain’t stopping this fight like this.“ He still had little breath, but it was getting easier to breathe again. Like a weight had been lifted off his chest.
„Okayyy“ Blue answered slowly. He flew by the building and Green used the opportunity to grab his sword that laid abandoned down there. Blue flies Green over and drops him off at his mech. Green was slightly unsure on his feet and felt sore. He decided he needed to ignore this for the whole fight. This could wait till after, unlike the city.
He started up his mech. „Okay Blue go back to defend the part of the city where you had been. Thanks for the catch.“ He thanked him, „The rest is all okay?“ he asks his teammates
„Yup, good.“ Cyan answered.
„Better than you probably.“ Red said jokingly after seeing that Green was fine.
„Yes, Green.“ White told him.
„All rocking over here.“ Black grinned as he beat up Garmadon’s guys.
„Good. I’m going after Garmadon again.“ Green stated. He fixed his sword to his back. He flew up into the air with his mechanic Dragon.
„If you need any help with him, tell us.“ White said and the others nodded along. If Green ever needed help they would help him. Even if he was more powerful than them.
He flew up after Garmadon. „Garmadon!“ he yelled as he sighted him with his mechanic on top of a building. „This ends now! And you go back to your little island!“ he hissed.
„Green Ninja, already recovered?“ he asked smirking. „Should have hit you harder.“
Lloyd attacked his Dad with some missiles, he shot at him. Garmadon moved out of the way. Some exploded against the building making chunks of it break off. That resulted to Garmadon shooting missiles back. Not the best strategy, but it got the fight rolling without much effort.
Soon enough both of them, went back to hand to hand combat. Both had jumped out off their mech. Lloyd was still sore but he needed to fight. At least, he could move again, with no problems. It seemed like it, but no one really knew what went on under the mask.
He threw a punch. Garmadon dodged it. Another punch got thrown and defended. Garmadon charged next and tried to hit Lloyd but he moved out of the way.
Both of their chests moved up and down rapidly, as they continued to fight each other. „Come on, hit me like earlier, or not enough stamina anymore?“ Lloyd asked as he grinned under his mask. Garmadon tried to, as he got fed up with Lloyds blabbering. The Green Ninja moved fast, he grabbed the villain’s arm pushing it away. The move helped him, to finally gain a clear way to deliver a punch.
He ended up delivered a good punch to his dad’s side. With no break, he spinned 180º raising his feet and delivered a Spinning Wheel Kick to the right side of his abdomen. It brought Garmadon out of his composed stance completely. He dropped to the ground like predicted. Lloyd had hit his Liver after all. Soon enough he was standing in front of him as his dad sat on the floor hand raised.
„I won’t repeat myself. Leave.“ He glared down to his dad. „You lost.“ He pointed the sword in his direction. He didn’t hold it against the neck but close enough pointed there.
„Fine, then.“ Garmadon huffed rolling his eyes. „Relax, I’m already going. No need to rub my loss in my face.“ Walking over to his half broken mech he turned around. „I’ll be back Ninja! And when I am, I will win! Just wait and see! Ninjago will be under my power!“ He turned back around „Retreat!“ He shouted, to all his guys and they all walked out of the city slowly and back to their volcano.
Lloyd sighed stretching, feeling sore. He flew with his dragon slowly back to the quarters. „Hey you guys, all okay?“ He mutters tiredly into the coms. „Back to the quarters now?“ he more kind of stated instead of asking. Soon enough the dragon landed in the hanger. The beloved hero rubbed his face through his mask. At least their gi’s were comfortable. The roof and rubble hadn’t exactly been nice to him after the explosion and the fall. His body still felt stiff and sore, where he got hit, by his father and was pretty sure, he bruised something. He winced as he slid down from his dragon, to the floor. The adrenaline was wearing off so he could feel the unease and pain. Had he cut his gi on the side of his arm? He furrowed his brows confused. When did this happen?
He frowned at the sight of a small cut where his gi had a cut. He heard the others land in the hanger finally too. He got up walking over to the desk and he leaned with his legs against it sitting down on the desk. Yea he was definitely tired. White landed like always completely gracefully. The others followed. Cyan also did land well, Black, Red and Blue were usually a bit more messy.
Their mechs looking good. Meaning they wouldn’t need to tickle around with it during the week as nearly nothing was broken.
„Jeez what a fight.“ He heard the others murmur talk between one another as they walked over to him. „Ha completely saved you over there, Green.“ Lloyd heard Blue say „You got so amazed by our fighting that your breath got knocked out.“
He looked up to them sighing „Yea, thankfully you did. What a mess today this time around.“ He grinned under the mask a bit and chuckled „Oh yes, totally the reason I got knocked out, not because of a hard punch, no, not at all.“
„You know, even though we aren’t as powerful as you. You can always ask us to help with Garmadon, after all you already count on us.“ Cyan piped in, as Red put a hand on Lloyds shoulder. „Better take on the offer there, Green.“
„Yea, thank you guys, I guess I got distracted there for a few moments“ Their leader explained looking over them all.
„Well it surely must have hurt, no? That wasn’t a soft punch, I saw it was hard. And I was far away, unlike Blue.“ Red says with raised brows at him.
Green rubbed his arm, „Well…I mean I’m fine, just a bit sore. Seriously, guys, I’m fine. Just some hits.“ He told them sheeplishly.
„Yea sure,“ Blue scoffs as he points to the cut gi at his arm, which was now slightly soaked in blood, „doesn’t look like it.“
„Jeez..“ Green mumbles taken aback. „I didn’t even notice, only that my gi was cut.“ He looked over his arm.
Black and White cut him off. „That is why you have us.“ The Earth Ninja pushed him a bit further onto the desk so Lloyd was in a more comfortable position. White went to grab the red box with a white cross on it.
„Guys I’m fine it’s just a cut.“ He says wanting to wave them off. He hadn’t seen how big the cut was. It had soaked his sleeve slightly, so it wasn’t too small.
Black moved Lloyd’s sleeve up so they could work without having the sleeve in the way. White started to unpack some bandages and all.
“What would you only do without your team.“ Blue says with a tone that indicated that he was smirking. The Ice Ninja cleaned the wound and bandaged it up. He even put a useless band-aid over the bandages. „What is this supposed to help with?“ Lloyd asked knitting his brows together.
„Statistics show that, when a person gets a band-aid put on it calms them down more and makes them more assured.“ White explained. Lloyd slowly nodded, „Okay, Thanks then…I guess“, he was a bit perplexed by White’s action but didn’t complain. After all this was White, he always acted a bit weirdly, but it was the way he showed care.
„Well guys I totaly don’t want to disturb this completely heartfelt moment, but it is getting late.“ Cyan suddenly spoke up.
„Oh you’re right N-Cyan“ Red said, before stopping himself at using another word, „Well I need to be home soon.“
The Green Ninja looked down to the clock that was on the desk, his eyes widened and he got up abruptly. The hands of the clock showed 7pm.
„Yea, good job today, guys! We will talk about it in the next training or whatver.“ He grabbed his bag from the floor and was already, practically running to the window. „ Have a good rest of the day!-“ He cuts himself off and looks back, giving them a small sheepishly look, because he was alredy going, in such a hurry. „Uhm…Thanks again guys. Really. For the bandages and all.“ He says giving them some small smile under the mask and he jumped out of the window, before anyone else could say something.
All of them looked at each other amused.
„Anyone thinking what I am?“ Cyan said outloud smirking.
„Typical Green?“ Black grinned back,
„Typical Green.“ The whole group answered back laughing.
