I was cuddling with Hiruko in my room when I suddenly heard the doorbell ring.
Hiruko let out a low groan as she pulled away from me and narrowed her eyes at the door.
"Figures, well let's just hope it's not Gaku or Kurara on the other side of that door."
"Tell me about it; if they saw us like this we'd never hear the end of it."
"Then again, I don't think it'd be a good idea for anyone to see us like this, so I'll hang back."
I was confused for a second about how she'd do that in such an open room, only to have my question immediately answered as I watched her climb underneath my bedsheets to hide.
She fumbled around trying to get situated, and then started to... sniff my sheets?
"You can take your time, it smells in here."
"Huh...? Why do you want to stay under there if it smells bad?"
"I didn't say it was bad, it just smells like you."
"O-Oh I see..."
I tried to say something else, but I tripped over my words. I didn't know what to do, so I decided to just go answer the door.
I lingered next to it for a few moments as I waited for my blush to go away.
When I finally opened the door, I saw a jittery-looking Kyoshika waiting for me on the other side. She had a nervous smile stuck on her face and was shaking a bit as she held onto her sword.
"S-Sir Takumi!"
"Oh hey Kyoshika, what's going on?"
Her eyes darted away to the floor as she started to tremble a little.
"I- I uhm... I have a proclamation to give you! Er... I mean a confession? A missive...?"
"Oh no, please tell me this isn't what I think it is."
"About...?"
Kyoshika looked back at me, her face completely soaked with sweat.
"M-My my bla- my blade...."
"Hey it's alright, okay? Just take a breath."
Kyoshika gave me a shaky nod and took a few deep breaths before finally blurting out her confession.
"My blade longs for your blade Sir Takumi!!!!"
I blinked a few times as I felt my heart sink in my chest.
"Oh no... How do I...? How do I tell her that I'm dating Hiruko!? How do I reject her without hurting her feelings?"
"It's not like I hate Kyoshika or anything, but I'm already taken! How do I make that clear to her?"
"K-Kyoshika, I'm sorry, but I'm already uh... I'm already dating Hiruko... Sorry."
Then it was Kyoshika's turn to look confused.
"Lady Hiruko? Really? I always assumed your heart belonged to Lady Nozomi!"
She was surprised, but not heartbroken, and it seemed like she already expected to get rejected?
"Y-Yeah, uh... Listen, I think you're a great girl I'm just... I'm with someone else."
Kyoshika sighed, and then smiled at me.
"I understand perfectly! I would never sully another woman's honor by wrecking her home!" Kyoshika looked away from me for a moment. "Even if this news does sadden me somewhat..." She half-whispered.
Kyoshika having a crush on me was a huge surprise, but then again, it was hard for me to imagine anyone liking me in that way to begin with.
"But it's okay Sir Takumi, and besides, I didn't come here to confess."
"Huh? Then what did-"
Suddenly Kyoshika pulled the sheath off of her sword and pointed it at me.
"H-Hey! What are you doing!?"
"My blade longs for your blade. My Holy Jumonji Sword has fallen hilt over heels for your Ōdachi."
I... What.
"I understand why you might be confused. Despite the Holy Jumonji Sword's confidence, she's quite shy when it comes to romance."
What.
"I hardly blame her however, your sword is a shameless flirt!"
What.
"I won't interfere in your relationship with Lady Hiruko. I only ask that you allow my Holy Jumonji Sword to properly confess to your Ōdachi."
"This is completely crazy, but if it makes her happy then I guess..."
"I... I guess I can do that...?"
I walked over to my desk, grabbed my infuser, and transformed. Hiruko was still under my sheets; I swear I heard her chuckling at me as I passed by her.
When I returned to Kyoshika I awkwardly lifted the blade close to hers. Kyoshika looked giddy as the two swords just... did nothing.
This went on for maybe a minute.
"I'm so happy for you two!" She suddenly shouted.
"Huh? What happened?"
"She accepted! Your Ōdachi accepted!"
"How!? I didn't hear anything! Also why is my sword a girl!?"
"That's... great. So uh... what happens now?"
"Isn't it obvious Sir Takumi? They're set to court, kiss, and passionately lock and grind against one another long into the night!"
"H-How!? How are they going to do any of that!?"
"My my Takumi, I never expected you to be so inexperienced in matters of love... I feel sorry for Miss Hiruko."
"S-Shut up! That's not what I meant! I meant how does a blade kiss another blade!?"
Kyoshika tapped the tip of her sword against the tip of mine.
"Like that."
I slumped my shoulders in defeat.
Since Kyoshika knew Hiruko and I were dating, I decided to go uncover her and explain what just happened.
She wasn't amused, to say the least.
"I'm sorry Lady Hiruko... I never considered your battle-axe might have developed feelings for her as well..."
I'm still surprised Kyoshika didn't get cut in half for that, Hiruko sure as hell was considering it.
After that, mine and Kyoshika's blades had their first date.
It was really just Kyoshika treating them like dolls while speaking out their lines, it was something alright. I also learned during all this that my sword's name was "Rekka," I guess.
She seemed happy though, so I guess that was all that mattered.
I didn't have the heart to end that for her, but I also wanted to get back to Hiruko, so I told Kyoshika to move the date to her room.
She accepted, thanked me, and then rushed off back to her room.
"I hope you know what you're doing..." Hiruko said.
"I... Can we just get back to cuddling?"
"Fine."
Hiruko kissed me on the cheek, and then pinned me down to the bed for Round 2.
