Chapter Text
Jamato just got his totem popped by spoke, now he's in black void adorned with shades of the rainbow. In a moment he realized he was floating, he began asking questions aimed at nobody in particular. A voice interrupted his inquiry about the unknown environment.
"Do you want to go back in time — to the beginning?"
Jamato had regrets and a wish he thought could never be fulfilled. To see the person he once knew. His best friend. Spoke turned out how he did. Jamato didn't do anything. He just wanted Spoke to admit he's in the wrong.
"Yes"
"Do you wish to forget?"
How cryptic.
"What?"
"Your current fate"
"No"
"Farwell"
His vision blurred before darkening entirely. Shortly, he was in his old base. Spoke hasn't come yet with his exploited diamond armor so he has time to destroy the exploits in his base. That he did, there were no traces left, well, kinda. He kept the netherite armor with redstone trims. Maybe it wouldn't fully break this time.
Like clockwork, he heard Spoke yelling for Jamato so come see something at the entrance of his base.
"Jamato!! I have this cool thing I want to show you"
Jamato enderpearled upstairs and went to the entrance. Spoke didn't let him speak before showing him the cool thing. He dropped diamond armor to him. It had enchants that weren't supposed to ever be on the same armor piece. All the protections were never meant to be on the same armor piece. Jamato had an idea.
"I have a similar armor set, let me show you."
Spoke perked up at that and gladly followed Jamato inside the not so familiar base. He showed Spoke the armor set but did not mention knowing any exploits.
"I can give you this armor, Spoke."
Spoke nodded enthusiastically. Jamato took the armor and dropped it to Spoke who immediately put it on.
"Do you know other exploits?"
"No"
...
"Okay, I'll find some myself."
"No you will not. I have this armor from the past when I used to do exploits. It didn't turn out well for me."
He visibly shivered while saying it didn't turn out well. Spoke was suspicious...
"What do you mean?"
"I got into a pretty bad situation with someone I exploited with and everything we thought we would have fell apart."
"What was the person's name?"
Jamato didn't have an answer for that, he was using the future as an excuse.
"It doesn't matter, Spoke. How about we just do something unrelated to exploiting?"
"Like?"
"Anything. Just not exploiting. You always have ideas"
Jamato waited as Spoke just stood there looking at him weirdly.
"We could go to that flower field?"
Spoke suggested, he remembered that they did that before.
"Yeah"
They walked to a big flower field, Jamato knew that Spoke knew he loves flowers and collecting them. He has many in some book of his. One thing Jamato definitely noticed is Spoke acting weirder than the Spoke this should be. He was basically seeking exploits and answers from Jamato, waiting for him to slip. But why? He asked to go back to see the Spoke he once knew. The perfect life he gave away and didn't think he could get back. Jamato didn't know how this timeline would go, but he knew he had to protect Spoke from the server this time and not protect the server from Spoke.
Jamato sat down on the grass embellished with flowers of all colors and sizes. He remembered the actual past, when Spoke gave him a flower that matched his color scheme. Maybe Jamato could make a flower crown as rainbow flowers don't exist. Yeah, that would be perfect. Spoke didn't sit down yet, he was still staring into space. Jamato walked around — searching for flowers in all colors. He did not find any natural green flowers but the stems he'll tie together will do. He sat back down near Spoke and put together two flower crowns. Eventually Spoke got tired of standing and just watched Jamato.
Jamato finishes making the flower crowns, he gave one to Spoke — who stared at it for half a minute before putting it on, unlike Jamato who put it on without hesitation.
He layed back on the grass and stared at the sky. This is how it should've gone. This is exactly what he didn't know he wanted back then. Maybe when the mafia rises they can run away to the farlands and explore the beauty of the server together... Jamato wishes he could forget everything he knew just so he could learn it all over again with Spoke. Maybe that mysterious person who gave him the option of returning to the beginning can make that possible too. Null is still going to be a thing but it's going to operate far from anyone. It won't meddle with their lives again. Jamato won't take Null. Spoke won't have to go through anything. He might not even get to know Mapicc in this timeline. Or Jumper, or anyone. He won't know the deaths he caused or the amount of wrongs he's done. Jamato will keep those ideations far away from Spoke. He'll protect him from the server this time. He won't mess up again. Would losing the knowledge be worth it? He'll just forget about it. He still has books in his ender chest, ones he'll keep hidden and won't touch. Maybe this could be that one universe where Spoke doesn't tear apart everything be touches.
"Jamato?? Earth to Jamato?"
"Sorry, I was thinking."
"About?"
"What we should do after this."
"Huh... Well I wouldn't mind staying here"
The sun began setting, they stayed at the field. Jamato managed to fall asleep, and Spoke? Spoke didn't sleep.
^_^
He was in a black void again. This was some sort of dream but one he could make decisions in? He heard the voice again.
"Do you wish to forget?"
"What?"
"All the research, the knowledge."
"Yes"
"Granted, farewell JamatoP."
The dream shifted to a different scene. A more peaceful one. Just he and Spoke in the farlands, in that little house he built. It would be the easiest way out of everything. An escape. Maybe he could try get Spoke to go.
Though, in the dream he and Spoke were just outside the little house, chatting while sitting against a tree.
Both of them were at peace. Jamato himself was just an overlooker of what could've been. It was taunting him.
^_^
Jamato woke up to empty surroundings. Spoke was no where to be found. He stood up and didn't bother brushing away the dirt, it's the least of his worries. He found Spoke panicking in his base.
"Where is it..!" Spoke paced around Jamato's base. Only stopping once he registered the owner of the base dropped down to the water.
"Where's what?" Jamato asked..
"Uh.. Nothing..! I just could've sworn I left something down here one time and I can't find it."
"Okay"
Spoke was still wearing the flower crown.
"I'm gonna go do some stuff Jamato, I'll come by later."
Spoke left the base in a minute, Jamato was left alone once again. And now he could finally spiral because what just happened...!??!?
Spoke was panicking about something he couldn't find. Spoke never brought or left anything at this base by accident. It just doesn't happen to Spoke. So what could that be about??? Does Spoke know something? There's no way, right? Spoke can't know what's happening. It would ruin the entire thing.. No. He isn't thinking clearly. He wanted to go back to the old Spoke. That's what he got. He's just overreacting about something small. Yeah. That's what it is. Jamato was never so unsure, well, he was when he didn't have any options at the end of Purgatory. But other than that, no.
In the meantime, while Spoke is gone Jamato packed the little amount of things he has in his base. After all, the plan is to leave and go to the Farlands — his plan, at least, Spoke will hopefully agree.
After packing he began reading. It was a hobby of his he never let go of. He's always loved bugs and plants. He himself is a bug hybrid. He's a void creature — voidling, just like Spoke. Except he's an end Voidling with naturally colder body temperature, and he mirrors Overworld Voidlings born in the void under bedrock. Spoke is an Overworld Space voidling born like a star rather than a normal Overworld Voidling that is born by just appearing. Spoke's birth colors are all of them so the colors bursting from the place he was born at were all sorts of colors. Unlike Spoke, Jamato was born from the End void which is much less forgiving. The end is cold. His skin always stays cold. Somewhere around 10°C. His eyes are also dull black instead of glowy white. Spoke has rainbow birth marks, his blood and veins? — they're rainbow. Jamato? His birth marks are a bit odd. He covers both arms with long black gloves all the time so it was never a problem. He, personally, thinks it just doesn't fit him. The end void has a tint of purple, his arms are filled with black with a tint of purple - similar to vitiligo. He doesn't think lowly of himself, he just isn't a huge fan of how the birthmarks look.
The book he was reading was on Botany. He was on page 38 when he saw Spoke jump into the water down at his actual base area.
"Did you find what you were looking for?" Jamato asked, flipping a page.
"What..? Oh, uh, no...?"
Jamato might've been too impulsive in this moment. This wasn't like him.
"Do you want to go to the farlands and stay there forever?"

Spoke wasn't sure what happened. He was JUST with Null!!! He was just about to leave and go on with his plans when all of a sudden he was teleported all the way back to his old base, wearing the full diamond armor with every protection. The Totem of Null was gone. It wasn't with him. That caused a panic.
Why was he at the beginning...
Where was his stuff?
What would happen to Null??
Who did this???
"Hello Spoke"
"Where's the totem!? Why am I here?"
"That's for you to find out. You must go to your best friend's base and show him the exploit. Let everything happen naturally, goodbye."
Well, what can he do other than obey.
Time to go see what his 'best friend' is doing.
^_^
"Jamato!! I have this cool thing I want to show you"
Spoke acted just like he did the first time. Hoping everything would flow naturally and he'd get Null back.
"I have a similar armor set, let me show you."
Spoke followed Jamato, feigning curiosity. He still liked the armor, it's a shame Mapicc broke the chestplate in his last chance, is that what this is? A new chance?
"I can give you this armor, Spoke."
Spoke nodded and Jamato handed him the armor. Great.
"Do you know other exploits?"
Spoke knew Jamato knew other exploits. This would go the same and he'll get everything back. He's sure of it.
"No"
Or maybe not.
"Okay, I'll find some myself."
Spoke was about to walk off rudely. He was basically begging the conversation to end itself. Jamato stopped him from leaving by scolding him..???
"No you will not. I have this armor from the past when I used to do exploits. It didn't turn out well for me."
What was hy even talking about?
"What do you mean?"
"I got into a pretty bad situation with someone I exploited with and everything we thought we would have fell apart."
No. Jamato knows. This was undeniably a reference to the 'past' but was this a different universe? One where Jamato knew the consequences? What was this.
"What was the person's name?"
No answer for a long time. Spoke expected this.
"It doesn't matter, Spoke. How about we just do something unrelated to exploiting?"
"Like?"
"Anything. Just not exploiting. You always have ideas.
Spoke just looked at hym weirdly. What was hys deal... Hy definitely knew something but wasn't telling Spoke. However, he had to act in character.
"We could go to that flower field?"
Spoke remembered him and Jamato doing that in the past.
"Yeah"
At the flower field he stood beside Jamato, who already got hymself comfortable. Spoke had to think for a moment. Jamato knew what happened or hy was just very different in this universe? Timeline? Who knows. Someone brought him back to the beginning but didn't specify if it's the same universe. He probably shouldn't ask Jamato and just try to figure out if hy knows anything or not. That seemed like the best bet.
Spoke eventually sat down beside Jamato. Hy gave him a flower crown. This actually reminded him of the times before every complication. When they were just exploit buddies that had a limit. When he and Jamato were on good terms and cared about each other. But Null wasn't a mistake. He wants his power back. Jamato's words before dropping the totem weighed him down for just a moment.
One look at Jamato told him that hy was lost in thought about who knows what.
"Jamato?? Earth to Jamato?"
"Sorry, I was thinking."
"About?"
"What we should do after this."
Staying here sounded like an okay option for now.
"Huh... Well I wouldn't mind staying here"
After a bit Spoke had noticed Jamato fell asleep. Perfect timing to find the exploits that are supposed to be in Jamato's house.
He stood up and quietly walked back to the base, jumped down to the water and just looked around. It wasn't a big space but could have secret compartments.
He found absolutely nothing and was crashing out.
"Where is it..!" Spoke was pacing, not noticing Jamato was behind him.
"Where's what?"
The question made Spoke jump a bit out of surprise. Wow, he did not expect Jamato to appear while making barely any noise. He had to lie out of this one. He can't tell hym he's looking for hys exploits.
"Uh.. Nothing..! I just could've sworn I left something down here one time and I can't find it."
"Okay"
Terrible lie... He rarely loses things at other people's places.
"I'm gonna go do some stuff Jamato. I'll come by later."
Spoke quickly left, practically ran. He had to do a lot of thinking and connecting dots about this other universe he's in. Or is it a different universe? He can't ask Jamato as that would be too suspicious.
Spoke ender pearled to his lava-cast base. Entering and sitting down on his lifted bed. Laying down — thinking.
There's many ways this can go. Jamato doesn't want to exploit, meaning it probably won't come to Null. It won't end the same. Spoke wants it to. He remembers the exploits. He'll just redo everything on his own, get Jamato to stay inside for a couple of days and rebuild the wonders. Dupe. Watch hym leave. Destroy the items and then continue like last time. This Jamato doesn't seem too different, it's just that hy doesn't want to exploit. That wasn't Spoke's only concern about this tho. Jamato doesn't have friends. He prefers not having connections. Spoke was, well, an exception due to their common interests.
Now, the problem?
Jamato mentioned that hy got the armor a while ago when he still exploited, that hy did that with an old friend and that it didn't end well for them. To anyone who didn't experience the normal timeline this would be a pretty normal reason to stop exploiting. But it sounded too much like the old timeline. The way things originally went before he was taken here. Jamato either had limited information about the future or in this timeline hy just actually had a friend hy used to explout with before Spoke.
He needs more proof before heading straight to the accusations that Jamato knew something because it would make him suspicious. Jamato, if hy doesn't know about what happened — which hy most likely doesn't, hy would question Spoke because accusing somebody about knowing something about the future with the possibility of them not knowing would make the other curious as you also seem to know something about the future.
It was a risk Spoke wasn't willing to take but he could try make a genuine plan to exploit and build the wonders without Jamato noticing, for a while at least.
One of the unrelated concerns is the Totem Of Null. Where is it in the original timeline if he's here? Jamato gave it to him but if he's gone does that mean it's with hym? He'll definitely keep that concern in mind.
^_^
Spoke now has his priorities straight, and a plan. The plan was to just somehow try hoax Jamato into staying in his base for a made up reason. The best bet would probably be making up a lie about some player committing mass genocide. Spoke doesn't have many ideas as Jamato isn't stupid, that might be an issue in the long run.
For now Spoke went to Jamato's base, hy was peacefully reading but hy still immediately asked him a question.
"Did you find what you were looking for?"
"What..?" Oh he fumblee... "Oh, uh, no...?"
The question Jamato asked after was a question Spoke didn't expect. It crashed into all his plans.
"Do you want to go to the farlands and stay there forever?"
"What?"
