Work Text:
A look at the detective's face tells Tee everything he needs to know and the thought of that alone knots at his stomach in ways that has his skin crawling.
"So, you're the bad cop?"
The soft-eyed man smiles in that specific bland and unflappable way that authority figures are trained to carry like a second skin. In lieu of answering, he opens a folder and begins pulling out it contents. Taking the time to lay each and every photograph out on the metal surface of the table, the man eventually taps a finger on the grainy pixelation of a print out closest to Tee's left wrist.
"Tell us about Dew Jirawat."
At the mention of the name, Tee's heartbeat gives a flickering hitch. Turning his gaze down, he takes in the dark silhouette standing just in the corner of the CCTV camera's view. Perhaps taking reluctance or the brink of acquiescence in his silence, the man presses on, "We need you to tell us everything you know about Dew Jirawat."
Despite himself, Tee uncurls his little finger, running a light touch that traces the person in the picture. His heart kicks up another treacherous beat and a smile curls his mouth before he can help himself. Looking back up, he leans back in his chair, the metal cuffs around his wrists clattering as he moves. "Did you use me as bait?"
The question was clearly unexpected and Tee picks up on the pinching of the soft-eyed man's lips. It was enough to pull a bark of laughter out of him.
"Oh, you stupid man. You have no idea what you've just done."
Like a meteor in the night sky, Dew came into his life and Tee knew nothing else.
If he had once imagined a specific version of living, everything disappeared the second Dew's sharp gaze fell on him from across a crowded room, and somehow, Tee cannot find it in himself to mind.
"Hi." Dew had said.
"Hi." Tee replied, just as a bullet narrowly missed his cheek. The teeth in Dew's grin was a little too happy for the carnage happening around them and it only grew when Tee shuffles closer to him.
Despite the carnage of gunfire and screaming, Tee can't help the soft little laugh that escapes him when Dew reaches up to wipe away the blood on his cheekbone. A flurry of butterflies took flight in his belly and for one swooping, free fall, Tee did not turn away the second Dew leaned in to whisper into his ear.
"Wanna get out of here?"
Over the sudden blare of the alarm, Tee merely smiles at the tall man who confidently strides into the interrogation room. "You're being messy, baby."
Soft-eyes barely has a moment to register his words before a bullet finds its home between his eyes. Tee doesn't give him a lick of his attention. Laughing when Dew sweeps him into a deep kiss, big hands on the sides of his head as he drinks him in. "Don't care. Came here to pick up my man." Dew grumbles. "I hated waking up without you."
"Mm." Tee hums, slipping his hands out of the handcuffs and letting Dew tug him to his feet. "I'll be more careful about my routines, promise."
Somewhere in the building an explosion goes off and Dew wraps an arm around him. "Wanna get out of here?
Tee dips in to steal a quick kiss before stealing soft-eyes' gun from the dead man's holster. "I thought you'd never ask."
