Chapter Text
Bea's name was always meant to be Juliette Beatrice Swan.
That was until her mother decided to die before giving birth to her. Of course dying wasn't her choice nor was it planned. Beatrice never found out what happened to her mother but neither did Charlie, all he was told was that it was most likely a complication with her pregnancy. That's why Bea's dad crossed Juliette out and wrote Penelope Beatrice Swan on the dotted lines.
Beatrice never really knew anything about her mother, only that they shared two things, a name and face. The face part is a bit on the iffy-side, only because that's what her dad says, that "they could've been twins".
Bea's mother, Penelope, came to Forks at the end of 1987 with nothing to her name. She worked as a waitress at a diner that Charlie used to frequent. The pair were friendly at the start, keeping things on the professional side. That was until Charlie's wife, Renee left him and took their daughter, Bella with her to Arizona.
No one could blame Charlie about how he was feeling, he just wanted comfort and he found that in the arms of Penelope. The month of January was quite a surprise when the two discovered they would be having a bundle of joy, or in other words, an accident.
When Charlie told Renee about the things he had been doing and the events that had unfolded. She lost her mind, accusing him of cheating on her during their marriage. She didn't allow Charlie to speak to Bella for almost two months, before realizing it didn't matter, they were no longer together.
As the months flew by, Penelope moved in with Charlie and began to decorate their future daughter's bedroom. They covered the walls in a soft gingham green with plenty of soft sheep stuffed animals scattering the room. The couple had finished their project right on time at the end of October when Penelope was rushed to the hospital, something was wrong.
The day had started normal, the mother-to-be stood in the doorway of the nursey, admiring their work, ensuring the name that hung above the dresser was centered, 'Juliette'. The baby's name wasn't something Penelope was exactly on board with at the start, Charlie had picked it, but it never felt right. Penelope could not find the perfect name, only a good middle name, Beatrice.
Charlie had just gotten home after work, it was close to 5:00 p.m., his boss had let him off early as the day hadn't been that busy. He walked into his home to find the mother of his child, laying on the floor, unconscious, covered in blood, with her marigold necklace next to her as if it was ripped from her neck in a fight.
Penelope was rushed to the hospital, where she never opened her eyes again.
Charlie didn't get much of an option when it came to Penelope. It was only to save the baby, the mother was gone. He would never know what happened that day or what happened to Penelope. Charlie was ushered out of the room, as the doctors began to prepare for the c-section. He tried to stay, but due to the circumstances, the closest he could be was outside the door, where at 10:00 p.m., October 31, he heard the cries of his daughter for the first time.
He saw her face 30 minutes later and held her after another ten minutes of admiring her.
The doctors wanted a name, Charlie was going to say Juliette, the planned name, but as he looked at the small girl in the bassinet, He changed his mind. Charlie wrote Penelope in the blank, wanting his daughter to have a small piece of her mother that she would never meet.
