It wasn't often Lee Seonghae felt bad. Staring up at Mr Mascot, she felt the unfamiliar stirrings of guilt, a soft curdle in her stomach. "...Mr Mascot," she said, and watched as the Mascot turned to her, golden flowers on his horns swaying as he did so. "Where will you be?"
I will stay here.
The smile froze on her face, but she didn't offer to stay as well. Having asked once and met with firm refusal, she didn't bother asking again. Instead, she said, a little helplessly, "I don't like it."
It's Okay
Lee Seonghae had disagreed.
That was then. Before the red mascots had barged in, wrecking havoc on their resort. Now, sitting in the gates of the blue zone, legs fractured and unable to move, she could only stare into the distance as she waited for the Mascot to come back. Her legs hurt, she thought to herself.
"Are you close with the Mascot?" The Agent asked, fingers brushing the sides of her sword. She, too, looked towards the distance, as if by staring hard enough she could will the Mascot toreturn. Lee Seonghae turned to blink at her.
"Not really," she said thoughtfully, and then smiled, a small, joyful stretch of her lips. "I know him well, though." And really, that was basically the same thing, wasn't it?
In the distance, a figure with great towering horns emerged, antlers twisting in the air. The resort employees all snapped to attention, a shared sense between them: their Mascot was back.
She watched in quiet satisfaction as he ensured everyone's safety, going as far as to bring the corpses out with him as well. Finally, he turned to where she sat on the ground, unable to move. The smile that stretched across her face was wider and unrestrained.
>Would you like to be carried?
"If you wouldn't mind," she said politely, and was swept up into the Mascot's arms, smoke escaping the small openings of the security suit.
A small golden flower fell down, remnants from the mascot form. She clutched at it between her fingers, marvelling at the sight of it. Then she kissed it, the barest brush of her lips, and tilted her head again to grin at the mascot. "I'm glad you're a good person," she said.
