The Road Runner was glad to see everyone celebrating his coyote. The fight to get Coyote vs Acme released had been a tough one, but the Road Runner knew that the last one to give it up would be Wile E. Coyote himself. Wile E. was the most persistent being the Road Runner had ever met.
While it was true that a lot of their chases were planned and directed, the two had done lots of improv over the years: improv that showed how close Wile could really get to catching the Road Runner. The bird beeped to himself, remembering the way Wile E. had touched his beak at the beginning of the movie. Both he and Wile E. had been able to really shine and go beyond what they normally did.
"Good job on the movie my fellow feathered friend," Daffy said, approaching the Road Runner. The Road Runner smiled at the compliment.
"I must say the only bad thing about it was having so little of me." The Road Runner kept his smile but rolled his eyes while pulling up a sign.
[ NOT YOUR MOVIE ] He flipped to another sign. [ WILE E. COYOTE <3 ] Daffy stared then let out a laugh.
"Geez you're such a sap!" The Road Runner ignored the duck. He was proud to openly love Wile E. He didn't see the appeal in acting as if he didn't care like Daffy and Bugs had done too much in their own relationship. He put up another sign, knowing and not caring that Daffy would tease him for it.
[ HE'S MY COYOTE ] Daffy let out another laugh. It was obnoxious, but the Road Runner could sense a bit of genuine happiness for him in it.
"That's sweet, pal, but are you sure he's really yours?" Daffy teased. He pointed to Wile E., and the Road Runner immediately looked back at him. In front of the coyote was a bunny munching on a carrot...
"I mean I know Bugsy is all mine, but is that coyote really all yours?" The smile on the Road Runner's face instantly disappeared. He shot a glare at Daffy before turning it on Bugs. The bunny had put an arm around an uncomfortable looking Wile E. The Road Runner remembered how Bugs would flirt with him in those terrible old shorts, and the action pissed him off. That rabbit really thought he could get close to the Road Runner's mate without consequences?!
"Alright calm down, I'm sure-" The Road Runner didn't bother to hear the rest of Daffy's sentence as he went zooming towards Bugs.
"Beep! Beep!" It wasn't a happy beep beep, it was an angry one. Wile E. looked at him, confused while Bugs didn't acknowledge the Road Runner's unusual emotion.
"What's up, doc?" That nonchalant attitude made the Road Runner's feathers ruffle. How dare the rabbit act like he wasn't trying to seduce his coyote!! The Road Runner pulled up one of his signs and slammed it against Bugs' head, pushing him off of Wile E. Bugs took a moment to recover looking surprised, but then he read the sign and understood.
[ HE'S MY COYOTE ] The hare took a step back and raised his hands up. His carrot had disappeared. The Road Runner put a wing around Wile E., pulling him close.
"He's yours, I get it, I saw the movie," Bugs said with a grin which put the Road Runner more on edge. "I was in it too, ya know, filming a scene with that cute coyote-" Bugs shrieked as the Road Runner leapt forward with a furious beep beep and pecked his head. He angrily clamped his beak down on one of his ears. Bugs jumped back, looking scared. The Road Runner smirked. It was rare he got to be angry or on the offense, and the movie had helped bring that part of him back out. It felt good to use it, especially against beloved Bugs Bunny.
"Sorry doc, I didn't mean to get you so riled up. Well, congratulations to the both of you on the movie." Bugs had gotten his typical unbothered expression back, but he did sound the tiniest bit off. The Road Runner nodded moving back to Wile E. and wrapping a wing around him again. Wile E. avoided eye contact with Bugs and put up a polite sign. [ THANK YOU ]
The sign that the Road Runner decided on was less polite. [ FUCK OFF RABBIT ] Bugs laughed, and the Road Runner felt satisfied sensing a bit of nervousness in it. Good.
"Hey Bugsy, where's my congratulations?! I was in the movie too!" Daffy yelled from across the room. The Road Runner for once felt glad for Daffy's self absorbed side; Bugs could go bother his own mate now.
"Oh yeah, you did amazing Daff, you always do a great looney act-" Bugs smiled as he moved towards the duck. The Road Runner watched then smugly turned to Wile E. His coyote was appreciating his blue feathers, carefully running his claws through them. Then he noticed the Road Runner's gaze, and his tail wagged.
[ THANK YOU ROAD RUNNER ] The Road Runner beamed and beeped as he read it. The sign had been made specifically for him, it wasn't the thank you that had been used for Bugs fucking Bunny. It filled the Road Runner with joy knowing Wile E. had created signs just for him.
[ YOU'RE WELCOME MY COYOTE ] Wile E. blushed, and the Road Runner gently pressed his beak against Wile E.'s snout. He was Wile E.'s and Wile E. was his. He never wanted that pesky rabbit near his coyote again, and if he had to get a bit riled up to keep it that way, he would.
