Chapter Text
November the 29th, 09:25 a.m.
Last days of Autumn and will be the first days of Winter in Mouseburg, so everyone is preparing for majority of holidays, Christmas. As for now, Tammy Tumbler is searching in her workshop for decorations for Christmas
"Damnit!" Tammy said "Where that box? I perfectly sure I left that box in drawer. Where it can be now!?"
"You mean that box" someone asked.
As if on cue, Tammy turned around to see where that voice came from. Suddenly there was an journalist, Wanda Fuller, who is holding a big box of decorations for Christmas.
"Yes!" Tammy said "Yes it is! Thank you"
As if on cue, Tammy put it on the table.
"So, tell me" Wanda asked with curiosity, "why are you need that stuff right now, even if it just a few days before Christmas?"
"Well that's a long story" Tammy replied "Are you sure you won't tell anyone?"
"You have my word Tammy, I won't tell anyone, EVEN Jack".
"Thanks" Tammy sigh with a relief before explaining to her "The thing is, I want to make a perfect present for everyone especially for Jack"
"I see" Wanda replied before asking "And are you have any success with this?"
"Unfortunately, no" Tammy admitted.
This might be a big problem here, Wanda thought for a moment. Wait, I have an idea.
Without wasting time, Wanda gave Tammy a special card from Tinseltown. The words "A Chess match" were singled out from among the other words in that card. Is it some kind of movie or comedy film or something else?
" ' A Chess match ' what is this?" Tammy asked confused about it.
"If you open this card, you will soon enough find out what is this" Wanda replied.
As if on cue, Tammy opened it, and that was an invitation to Tinseltown for a competition. And in every season and every year was a different kind of competition. This year -- in Spring *Elfs vs Dragons*, in Summer *Cool and warm*, in Autumn *Halloween and Christmas bonds*, and this Winter *A Chess match*.
"Well what do you think of this?" Wanda quizzed "Will it be a good example for your secret present?"
"This is... AWESOME!!!" Tammy squealed from happiness. "Thank you Wanda. I knew I can trust you. Ooh, this will be awesome."
"Hey hey hey, not so fast young lady," Wanda stated after blocked her exit fro her workshop. "First of all, we need a plan for it, secondly we didn't know yet what will happen there and last but not least, we need more mice for this 'mission' do you understand now. And where's Jack now?"
"At Tinseltown" Tammy replied.
"Why he is doing there right now?" Wanda quizzed.
"I don't know" Tammy admitted "but I heard that he's picking up Mr. Bandel and someone from there."
"Ok. This give us more time to think about it" Wanda said.
Meanwhile, at Tinseltown Jack was waiting for Steve to pick him up, but he didn't see him.
Where you are Steve, Jack though as he checked oh time. You know that I don't like when someone is late, especially you. Well it's my time to find him before 10 a.m..
As if on cue, Jack began finding him, but he's nowhere to be found. Suddenly he noticed an event poster of future competition. He came closer to take a look, but his though was interrupted by familiar voice.
"So you're interested in tha-"
"AHH!!!" Jack screamed from that unexpected move. "Sheesh, Steve are you dumb or you pretending you are dumd!? You want that I have a heart attack or what!?!?"
"Sorry, Jack" Steve apologized. "I thought you were someone else"
"Firstly, it's okay" Jack replied " secondly what is this?"
"Oh, this is new competition from Tinseltown" Steve smiled. "And I heard about it, that everyone can be at a competition, but limited number for it of course."
"So, it is now available to sign up right now?" Jack asked.
"Unfortunately no." Steve replied.
Damnit. Jack though.
"But..." Steve grinned for a second. "There is another way to be at competition. There also needs volunteers for it. So, if I'm not mistaken, there should still be spots available for that."
"Great! Now let's go before I changed my mind" Jack snapped.
"Wait wait, what about Betty?" Steve quickly said after stopping Jack for a moment.
"Who? " Jack quizzed.
"Betty, my assistant." Steve replied.
"Ah, well if you say so, I will be waiting near that tree, okay?" Jack said.
"Don't worry about it, Jackie" Steve replied.
"Heh, lovebirds." Jack smirked to no one.
Afterwards, he returned to the car, which was parked by the tree and he had weird feeling. Like something is missing in his heart. What could it be? Then he remembered what is missing. A word, that he rarely think about it. Be fall in love with someone. He raised a child on his own. He even survived the war when he was young adult. But he never fell love. He thought that was some kind of ridiculous stuff after war, but.... He was zoned out and didn't realise that Betty and Steve are approaching from around the corner.
"There you are Jack," Steve said "Are you okay? You look like you have something on your mind"
"And it very big" Betty added.
"It's alright guys, I just zoned out as always I do" Jack replied. "Now, come on let's get back to my office, lovebirds"
"Ha ha, very funny" Steve said, strained through his teeth.
Meanwhile Jack and Betty are cannot help with this but chuckle.
To Be Continuing...
