The kiddie pool was nice in the very hot sun of the July afternoon. It was so nice to splash about. It might have been a touch nicer if my mom set up the pool in the shade. It's bright so closed eyes is better.
What's happening? Why aren't my legs kicking the way they should? it feels like they're sort of stuck together. It feels wrong. With my eyes adjusting to the brightness, my legs are melding into one. I've become a monopod? How will I go to school? How will I do anything? Ok, why are there scales now? Where are my feet? Where. Are. My. Feet? My feet are a fin. Oh. Oh, no. My legs are a tail. I've somehow become a mermaid. I had wished, but fancifully. I never thought this would happen. In reality, it's a nightmare. My life will never be the same.
