~•~ Short n' Sweet - A Jisbon day ~•~
The sun slowly rised, climbing up the sky, it's golden rays seeping through the slight opening of Jane's bedroom curtains.
It would've been beautiful to look at, if only the rays didn't hit Patrick's face with surprising precision. He slowly sat up, barely able to open his eyes. Now that the sun wasn't in his face anymore, he blinked properly and took the sight next to him.
Teresa Lisbon, his precious, still asleep, no sunrays conveniently hitting her face. He just sat there for a while, admiring her. A smile (that cheeky Jane smile i like sm- anyways) creeping up his face. This was like living the dream.
This was the first night/day they've spent at the cabin Jane brought near that lake (see s.7 ep.11). They finushed the renovation just last week, and Jane was so excited to finally call that picteresque house home. And today already looked like it was gonna be the best day ever.
By now, Lisbon felt that Jane sat up. She stirred, rolled on her back and opened one sleepy, questioning eye.
"The sun was in my face, Lisbon. Although i have a whole another one here next to me." He pointed lightly at the curtain, then at her. She gave a sleepy smile.
"Barely woke up and you're already starting with your comments..."
"Oh come on, Lisbon, i know you like those 'comments'. And it's the truth."
She just gave a content grumble and shifted again.
"Go back to sleep, it's too early in the morning..."
Jane just hummed. He pressed a light kiss on her forehead and then got out of bed, streching with a yawn.
"...can't sleep now anymore. I'll be in the kitchen. You get your rest, T."
A grumble that resembled a "fine" was heard from Lisbon before she tugged the covers over her again. Jane watched, yet another smile creeping up his face. Well, he wasn't sure if the first smile ever even left.
He went to the kitchen, his hand automatically reaching for his teacup. The old blue one that Lisbon put back together ang gave it to him on his birthday. The one time Lisbon menaged to truly surprise him.
He turned the kettle on and placed the teabag in his cup. Then he opened the fridge. He wanted to make something. He saw some oat, milk and strawberries, so he decided to make porridge for Lisbon. By the time the porridge was almost done, the kettle whistled, and he poured the hot water in his teacup. After a little while, the porridge was done and poured in two bowls.
Just as he was about to top Lisbon's bowl with strawberries, he heard footsteps going down the stairs.
"Morning sleepy" he greeted without having to turn around.
"Morning. What are you making..?"
"Ah-ah, I'm not spoiling the surprise yet. Go sit down, I'll bring the bowls."
"Mysterious as ever, aren't we." Lisbon said, but he could hear the smile in her voice.
Jane placed his teacup on the table and then placed the two porridge bowls too.
He slid Lisbon's bowl over the table to her and watched her reaction.
She stared at the steaming porridge adorned with strawberries that formed a heart shape. She smiled so brightly like a star in the pitchblack night and looked at Jane.
"Patrick...this is ADORABLE."
He gave one of his big smiled and sipped his tea.
"Wouldn't have anything else for you, now would we? Dig in."
Lisbon leaned over the table, gave him a chaste kiss and then digged happily in her porridge.
Jane watched her for a few seconds before eating his porridge too.
He'll never get tired of these domestic mornings and sweet acts he'd do for Lisbon. And he'll also never get tired of Lisbon, his own personal sunshine.
Today was only the beginning.
