sapphic September prompt #4: secret crush

Work Text:

Sky adjusted her glasses as she looked across the desk. Mel Medarda stared back at her.  Apparently, she had said something, but Sky had missed it.

“Miss Young?” Mel said, raising one eyebrow.

Shaking herself out of her daze, Sky shifted nervously in her seat. The truth was she had been too distracted by certain thoughts she was having about Mel, and hadn’t been processing the other woman’s words. “Oh, sorry, Miss Medarda. I just have a lot on my mind right now. Could you please repeat the question?”

Mel gave her a light smile. “I was saying, I heard you’re making some great progress in the lab, and was wondering if you have anything interesting to report on.” She stood up from the chair to move in front of Sky, and then looked down at her curiously. “But is there something else you wish to tell me?”

Sky looked up at Mel standing tall before her. She thought of them kissing, of their bodies pressed together. Heat rushsd to her face. “Oh, no, nothing else.” It wasn’t like she could say how she truly felt out loud.

While she didn’t look convinced, Mel gave her a small nod. “Very well, why don’t you return home for the day? We can continue this discussion another time.”

Sky was about to get up, but then plopped right back down.  She took in the image of Mel in her white dress, the gold on her body and in her braids. Sky was starting to feel warm all over. The vision of them kissing was flashing into her mind again. “Actually, there is something else I wanted to tell you, Councilor.”

“Please, go right ahead,” Mel said patiently.

Trying her best to gather confidence, Sky sat up straight in her seat. “I just think you’re really beautiful. Maybe we could have dinner together? Or whatever you would like to do.”

“I would enjoy that.” Mel then placed a hand on Sky’s shoulder. “You know, you can tell me anything else you were thinking.” Her voice was low, with a hint of seduction in it.

Sky looked at Mel’s soft, manicured hand resting on her shoulder. Her heart started fluttering. “I was thinking of kissing you. The entire time I’ve been sitting here…it’s been on my mind.”

“I see. Would you like to do that now?” Mel asked, and much to Sky’s shock, she seemed very casual about it. Maybe she had already been aware of Sky’s feelings somehow.

“I would, yes,” Sky said as her breathing started to quicken. Then Mel smoothed down her dress and sat down on Sky’s lap. Sky could hardly believe this was happening, especially when Mel pulled her in for a deep kiss.

She wrapped her arms around Mel, hands trailing along her body as she returned the kiss. Sky had a feeling things were going to go further, just like she had fantasized. And she looked forward to it.
