Oliver had gone to garden to take his usual smoke break. The spring rains that had come earlier in the day had left the garden pleasantly cooler despite the Sun overhead and cloudless sky. As he strolled the garden he had assumed he was alone in the peaceful garden but froze immediately upon the garden path when he spotted the crouched figure clad in white robes.
The Sovereign didn’t seem to notice him as he approached as they continued to scour the garden’s wild patches of flowers.
“Sir Oliver, did you know that dandelions are known to be symbols hope and wishes?”
The haggard knight flinched slightly realizing the Sovereign had noticed his presence.
“uh truth be told, boss, I’m not that versed in the language of flowers … sort know flowers more for their magic properties.”
The Sovereign seemingly glided toward him, their robes flowing about them in the slight spring breeze.
“Here, Sir Oliver take a dandelion.” Taking hold of their knights hand they gingerly placed a dandelion between the knight’s fingers.
“They say if you make a wish whilst blowing on a dandelion, flowers seed puffs that disperse will carry your wish to where it needs to go."
Oliver watched as the Sovereign turned away slightly lifting their mask to raise the dandelion held in their gloved hand to their mouth, giving a slight blow the puffs lifted into the air before them. The knight watched as the flowers seeds released into the air floating into the wind when a sudden breeze scattered the delicate puffs towards his direction and onto his face causing him to sneeze.
The Sovereign laughed at the poor knight’s sneezing fit.
“My apologizes, here let me help.”
As the Sovereign closed the distance between them, Oliver’s felt like his heart was about to thump out his chest with how close the Sovereign was to him. He felt his face flush as they gently doted over him, delicate gloved hands brushed his face for stray puffs and plucking any other wayward dandelion seeds from his hair.
“ah uh thanks boss…” Oliver stammered as the Sovereign brushed a stray hair from his forehead. He was starting to feel light headed.
Noticing their knights sudden distress, the Sovereign took a step back.
“No problem Sir Oliver. So ……. will you be making a wish as well?”
“ah, me? Oh okay.” Lifting the dandelion in his hand to his face Oliver gave such a weak blow, the dandelion remained in tact.
“sorry give me a moment to catch my breathe ah- ACHHO!” With the sneeze, the dandelions puffs dispersed into the air.
“um Sir Oliver are your allergic to dandelions?” inquired the Sovereign, there head slightly tilted with concern.
“I don’t thinks so…. uh I mean no boss, a puff just ticked my nose.”
The Sovereigns porcelain mask seemed to give no expression, but Oliver could tell by the Sovereign’s slight body language that they were amused.
“So what was your wish Sir Oliver?”
“….um, sorry boss I think I forgot to make a wish….” he mumbled awkwardly.
He watched as robbed figure crossed their arms, seeming slightly disappointed.
“I see, well I believable its almost time for the days audiences. I will see you later at the Round Table Sir Oliver.”
Watching the Sovereign walk off he felt a mix of embarrassment and shame, knowing that he did make a wish.
As the Sovereign descended the steps of the Tower to the audience hall, well blended into into the white of their robes were a few stray dandelions puffs.
