Chapter Text
Bakugo sighed. He can’t believe he got stuck with lookout duty. That was usually Ears and Tentacles’ job. At least he was with Kirishima. If he had been stuck with say Kaminari or Deku, they would have fallen *cough*been pushed*cough* over the edge. At least Kirishima knew Bakugo’s boundaries or could at least survive the fall if he was to be shoved over the edge.
“Hey Bakugo!” Kirishima shouted, even though they were only SIX FEET APART. “You see anything?”
“No, that’s not what my quirk is for.”
“Yeah, that’s why Mr. Aizawa gave us binoculars. Weren’t you listening to his instructions?”
“I was listening. I just didn’t care.”
“C’mon Bakugo, don’t be like that.”
“I can’t believe he put us on lookout when we could be so much more help in the field. I was ready to kill some villains.”
“We’re not killing villains, we’re catching them. And I get what you mean, I want to be out there too, but you heard what Mr. Aizawa said. We need experience with every possible field in the hero’s range so that we’re not caught off guard when we start our careers.”
“Tch! Whatever.”
Bakugo turned away signaling the end of the conversation. Kirishima sighed and shook his head at his best friend’s antics. He knew Bakugo could be a softy when he wanted to be, but that was pretty rare. He also knew that he had quite a bit of energy, which was why he was always looking for a fight.
Kirishima turned away too and lifted up his binoculars. He also knew the real reason that Mr. Aizawa put them on lookout.
*Flashback*
“Bakugo needs to learn to slow down and let others handle the fight,” Mr. Aizawa told him. “He fights good and can work with others but it’s only when he wants to. He also needs to learn how to be more gentle. That’s why I’m putting him on lookout for tomorrow’s mission. I’m putting you with him, because you’re the one he seems least likely to push off the roof. He listens to you ok, too. You’re going to be there under the pretense of being on lookout, but your mission is to make sure Bakugo stays on the roof. Got it?”
Kirishima nodded. “You can count on me sir!”
“Good. Now leave me alone. I’m taking a nap.”
*Flashback over*
Kirishima scanned the city for anything unusual while keeping an eye on Bakugo. Bakugo had a bored look on his face, but at least he was using the binoculars.
A crackle could be heard over the com. Kirishima and Bakugo shared a look and nodded. “Dynamite! Red Riot!” Mr. Aizawa’s voice shouted over the coms. “The villain is heading your way! Be on you guard!”
Bakugo let out a low laugh. “It was about time we had some action.”
Kirishima grinned. “Let’s show them what we can do.”
The two friends took fighting stances ready to take out the villain that dared cross their paths. After a few minutes of nothing happening though, Bakugo lowered his arm and growled. “Must’ve been a false alarm.”
Kirishima rolled his shoulders. “Yeah, the guy must have changed directions.”
Suddenly, a head poked up from the edge of the roof. “I’m a girl actually.”
Before either of the boys could react, the girl had jumped up on the roof and sprayed some sort of mist in Bakugo’s face and running off. She smirked. “That should keep you at bay long enough while I escape.”
Bakugo started running towards her, Kirishima right behind him. “Get back here! You-you—” Bakugo trailed off. The lady jumped off the roof. Bakugo collapsed.
“Bakugo!” Kirishima shouted. “Mr. Aizawa! Bakugo’s down! The villain got away!”
“Stay with Bakugo, Kirishima! Iida and Momo are on their way! Leave the villain to us!”
Kirishima nodded even though his teacher couldn’t see him. He dropped next to Bakugo and started looking for a pulse. He found one easy enough and sighed when he did. He studied his friend for a moment. Bakugo was taking deep, shallow, steady breaths, almost like he was asleep.
“That’s strange.”
That’s when Iida and Momo showed up. Iida carefully set Momo down and then the two dropped to the ground beside Kirishima.
“I found a pulse. And it’s not a physical wound. She sprayed some sort of mist in his face and then he passed out.” Kirishima informed them.
Momo, who had more medical knowledge than anyone in the class, was examining Bakugo. “It seems like he’s asleep.”
Iida spoke up. “Mr. Aizawa did inform us that the villains quirk was unknown. They may have had some sort of sleeping quirk.”
Momo nodded. “That may be true. We still need to get him to Recovery Girl as quick as possible though. She’ll be able to give him a more thorough examination.”
Iida nodded and picked Bakugo up. “I’ll take him. You two help the others.”
The two nodded and Iida ran off with Bakugo in his arms.
“He’ll be okay,” Momo assured him. “He’s Bakugo. He’ll survive if just to spite death. Now come on! The others need our help!”
Kirishima nodded. He could worry later. For now, he had to fight.
Besides, his classmates were right. Bakugo was tough.
