Work Text:
Things were getting strange around Furin recently, and for whatever reason it was revolving around him.
Sakura was used to odd things happening to him, his whole life was one odd experience. This felt weirdly targeted though. For about a week now, Sakura was finding treats left on his desk. No one else had anything left for them, it was only him. He had no idea where they came from and neither did any of his friends. He might have thought they were lying to him, but even they seemed just as curious as he was about where they were coming from.
They were always left in a small bento and so far it hadn’t been the same thing twice. They could be savory like the Onigiri he got one day or sweet like the Daifuku he got that was filled with strawberries. They always looked like they were made with care and were delicious enough to make his mouth water for more.
At first Nirei thought maybe he shouldn’t eat them. He was worried of someone trying to poison him, but that was stupid. If there was one thing Sakura was confident in, it was the fact that no one in this school would do something like that. Well, besides maybe Sugishita. He might try and poison him on a bad day.
It did make him question why though? His classmates usually had no problem with just out right giving him things, so why go to such lengths to be secretive like this? He wasn’t one to turn down food, even if it didn’t taste the best. He knew what it was like growing up with not enough to eat, so he never wasted a bite.
Sakura found if he left the bento on his desk at the end of the day, it would be gone by the next day with a new one waiting for him. He had debated on waiting to see when the person might come by for the bento, but that would draw the attention of his friends.
It was on the 6th day of receiving a treat that Kiryu spoke up.” Sakura-Chan, I think you have a secret admirer.”
Sakura scrunched his face up as he went to look over the bento on his desk. He felt himself perk up when he spotted a note taped to the side. Something he noticed after the first day he got the treats was every other one was left with a little note to describe what it was he was having. He might have used that as a clue to who it could have been, had he not told everyone he didn’t know what the first treat was.
“Secret admirer? The hell does that mean?” He went to flop back in his seat and grabbed the note to read what he would be eating today. Looks like today was Dorayaki for him. From the description alone it sounded delicious, but the end nearly had him turning bright red.
“ I choose the design on top since it reminded me of you.”
Setting the note to the side he went to pick the container up to open it, his eyes going wide when he finally took in the treats. They looked perfectly round and sealed, but up on the top was a delicately burnt on cat face. A cat? This person thought a cat fit him?!
Honestly, everyone told him that so he couldn’t even use this as a hint either! Why did everyone think he was like a cat?
Kiryu picked up the note next to him so he could read it before he let out a small chuckle.” A secret admirer is someone who has feelings for someone but keeps their identity a secret.”
Sakura pulled out one of the Dorayaki and took a bite, perking up at the taste. Whoever this person was, they did an amazing job each time. They were going to ruin other treats for him forever if they kept it up. It almost distracted him from Kiryus explanation.” Wait.. has feelings for someone?”
“Yep! Someone has a crush on you, Sakura-Chan!”
The poor Dorayaki almost meet the floor if Sakura hadn’t been quick with catching it. His face was burning hot as his head whipped towards Kiryu, barely containing his voice from a full on shout.” A c-c-crush?! Huh?”
Luckily it was just the two of them at the moment. Kiryu had offered to come in a bit earlier with him to see if they could spot the person leaving the bentos, but they somehow still missed them. How early were they getting here to do this?
His pink hair friend gave him a playful smirk as he waved the card around between them.” They have to know you pretty good if they know your lack of knowledge on food and that you’re our resident kitty.”
“ I told everyone I didnt know what the treats were though.. and all of you bastards think I am a cat! So that doesn’t count!” Sakura chewed on the inside of his cheek for a moment before looking down at the treat. It would probably be a good idea to figure out who is doing this. He wasn’t as naive about romantic feelings as he was when he first got here. He had been learning and if there was one thing he knew, if he wasn’t going to be interested in this person he didn’t want to string them along.
“Okay, how are we going to figure out who it is?” Sakura hesitated a moment before going to motion between the two of them.” Also, I want to keep this between us. If I’m not interested in this person, I dont want everyone to know.. This weirdo deserves some privacy if they are going this far.”
The way that Kiryu perked up had him regretting his decision. His arm was immediately stolen by the pinkette, a sweet grin gracing his lips.” Aw, Sakura-Chan! You trust me with this? I definitely wont let you down!”
“D-damn it! Let me go before I drop this again! I don’t want to waste it!”
“Oh? Can I have a taste?”
“Hell no! This is mine!”
Kiryu let out a whine as he laid his head against his arm.” You’re so mean, Sakura-Chan.”
It was a surprise to him every day that he didn’t have an aneurism dealing with these guys. The minute he saw the pout on Kiryu’s face he knew it was over for him though. For whatever reason, if Nirei or Kiryu were upset he always found himself giving in to what they wanted. He hated it. He went to break off a piece of the treat before going to hold it out for him.” Here! Take it and shut the hell up!”
Kiryu stared at the piece in surprise before he smiled once more as he took it from him.” Aren’t you just the sweetest. I can see why someone is crushing on you now.”
Sakura let out a groan as he went to take another bite for himself. Something tells him he is going to end this experience either with a new level of embarrassment discovered or with the biggest headache of his life. Hell, maybe even both. Whoever it was better be ready to deal with the consequences for causing him so much trouble.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
A new day, a new treat was left.
This time Sakura had grabbed it and brought it up to the roof to enjoy. Knowing this was from someone who had feelings for him, he didn’t feel comfortable sharing with the others. Even if there was a chance he might not feel the same for this person, he wanted to respect their feelings all the same.
Kiryu had helped him narrow down his list quite a bit on who it could possibly be. They were confident it wasn’t anyone in their immediate friend group. Suo didn’t even eat and if it was him, the notes left would be more tailored to embarrassing Sakura rather than helping him. Nirei wasn’t much of a cook and knowing his taste the treats would have been probably all sweets instead of the variety he was receiving. Tsugeura would have probably made sure it was all protein based foods. Kiryu eliminated himself since he prefers more direct methods of confessing.
The rest of the class they were working through, but most of them had been eliminated as well. The care and craftsmanship put into the food was out of most of their leagues and the note was made by someone who definitely knew what they were talking about.
Sakura let out a sigh as he opened the door to the roof, holding the food close to him. He just wanted to know who it was already. Maybe he was being impatient and maybe it would mean no more treats for him, but the curiosity was almost too much for him to handle.
As he went to make his way over to his usual spot, he found himself stopping short when he spotted a familiar broad back sitting on the bench. What was Momijikawa doing up here?
It didn’t seem that he had noticed him yet, so he went to make his way over so he could sit on the other side of the bench. He looked like he was lost in thought, his eyes looking far away at the moment.” Momijikawa?”
The taller boy startled just ever so slightly before he went to raise his head up to look over at him, his amber eyes just a little wide in surprise.” Haruka, when did you get here?”
Damn it, there goes his face again. It had been a few weeks since Momijikawa started calling him by his first name and he still hadn’t gotten used to it. He went to glance to the side, trying to keep from making any weird faces.” I-I just got here. What are you doing up here?”
He heard the bastard snicker at him, which nearly caused him to start yelling at him.” It was too noisy in my class, so I came up here for some quiet. What about you? Also whats in the bento?”
Sakura turned his head just enough so he could glance at him before he went to glance down at the bento. He had already opened up about his past to Momijikawa, so honestly he didn’t see a problem with letting him in on what was going on here.” Ive been getting these treats for a while now and my friends keep taking some of them. Kiryu thinks they are from a secret admirer, so if that’s true it didn’t feel right for me to give them away. Someone worked hard on this and even if there is a chance I might not share their feelings, I want to respect the work they put into it for me.”
When Sakura didn’t hear anything from Momijikawa for a minute he went to look up at him once more. He felt his cheeks go a bit pink when he saw Momijikawa was watching him with something he had come to know as fondness. Why though? Did he say something weird? And why did it make him feel funny to see it direct at him from Momijikawa?
Turning back to his bento, Sakura grumbled softly as he went to set it in his lap.” I-I don’t know what it is today.. I wanted to see up here.”
He heard the bench creak as Momijikawa scooted closer to him, leaning over so he could look with him.” Have they been good so far?”
“Yeah, I haven’t found anything that I haven’t liked that they made so far.” Sakura went to grab the note first, feeling his mouth quirk up when he read it was Karaage this time. This was something he actually knew. He felt his eyes widen when the note was snatched from him before he whipped his head towards Momijikawa.” Hey! Thats mine!”
Momijikawa ignored him, looking the note over before letting out a hum.” This seems right up your alley.” He went to shift his eyes over to Sakura, a playful smirk on his face.” Do you read the note every time you get one?”
Sakura went to snatch the note back, holding it close to his chest as he fixed the taller boy with his best glare. Damn jerk, who gave him permission to touch his stuff, or to look like that with a smirk.” Obviously. I don’t know what some of the stuff is and the way they explain things makes it easy for me.”
Momijikawa seemed to stall for a moment, his eyes looking down at where he had the note pressed safely to his chest. Before Sakura could question what the hell his problem was, amber eyes shifted away to look out at the town. He saw the smallest up tick of his lips as he spoke.” That seems pretty helpful.”
“Uh, yeah it is.” Sakura turned his eyes back to the bento, trying to ignore the fluttering of his heart. Why did he always get like this around Momijikawa? Maybe he was sick or something. Putting the note safely in his pocket, he popped open the container and took in the perfectly crisp outside of the chicken. Holding the food up a little closer, he went to give it a good whiff. Oh, he could tell this was going to be a favorite of his. He tried not to glare too hard at the cabbage that was neatly put under it, but he did appreciate the sauce that was in its own little cup with a lid.
The feeling of eyes watching him usually would have him on edge, but he couldnt be bothered to acknowledge it. No he needed this food in his mouth immediately. Luckily he was provided with some chopsticks in the bento. Whoever this was really did think of everything. Once he had the sauce open and the chopsticks in hand he finally got himself a bite. The minute he bit into the meat, he couldn’t help the happy groan he let out.
Everything about this was perfect, it is even better than the one he had in town. The meat was nice and juicy, the flavors melted together in a perfect harmony and the sauce only elevated it more. He was no expert on food, but he knew how to appreciate, especially when so much effort had been put into it.
Sakura hadn’t even realized he had shoved the rest of the bite into his mouth and was working on another until he heard laughter next to him. He turned his head and froze when he saw the way Momijikawa was laughing, not holding back at all as it echoed off the roof. It reminded him of the night they ate at his house for the first time. He had a really nice laugh.
It didn’t stop him from growling as he squinted his eyes at him.” What’s so funny?!”
Momijikawa managed to calm down to a chuckle before he went to fix Sakura with that Infuriating smirk of his.” You just looked like a chipmunk with how full your cheeks were, it was kind of cute.”
Why did everyone compare him to an animal, huh? This was the second time in the last few days someone had done that and he didn’t get it.
Wait a damn minute.
There was a moment of him scowling at Momijikawa before his brain caught up with an important part of the conversation. He couldn’t control the way his hand started to shake that was holding the container before he was hopping to his feet. He pointed his chopsticks at the overly amused bastard, his voice coming out higher than he meant it too.” C-Cute?! Did you just call me cute?! A-Are you makin’ fun of me?!”
Momijikawa looked entirely too pleased as he went to stand up himself, making his way over to Sakura.” No, I’m just telling the truth. There are plenty of other things I could use to make fun of you besides that.”
Sakura found himself backing up as Momijikawa made his way closer, his heart thumping rapidly against his chest. Why was he feeling this way and why was Momijikawa getting so close now? He couldn’t tell if he wanted to wipe that smug look off his face with his fist or something else.” T-The hell is that supposed to mean?”
He would totally deny the surprised squeak he let out when his back hit the chain link fence on the roof, but what did he do now? Momijikawa was still advancing on him and trying to kick his ass would risk the precious Karaage he still had to eat. He could run off too, but that wasn’t an option just for the simple principle of he never runs away. He felt his breath catch when Momijikawa stopped in front of him, his eyes widening when his friend leaned down so they were more on eye level. Momijikawa was so close he could feel his warm breath lightly fan over his face. It made him feel a little dizzy.” Well, I could pick on you for how red your face is right now? Something on your mind, Haruka?”
Sakura couldn’t even come up with a retort to this, finding himself getting lost in molten eyes. It wasn’t the first time he had noticed the color of his friend’s eyes, but he had never gotten a close look like this before. He felt like he was drowning in them.
The lack of comeback seems to only fuel the taller boy as he went to glance down at his food that was on the verge of falling from his unsteady hand. The feeling of a hand brushing against his other hand that was still holding the chopsticks knocked him out of his daze, causing him to press further against the fence.” W-What are you doing?”
Momijikawa chuckled softly as he swiftly stole the chopsticks from him and grabbed a piece of Karaage for himself.” I want to see how good the food is.” Sakura watched as he put the piece in his mouth, some part of his brain registering the fact that now both of their mouths have touched the tips of the chopsticks at this point.
Momijikawa hummed as he went to hold the chopsticks back out to him.” The marinade could use a little help but it is pretty good.”
Sakura let out a huff now before he went to snatch the chopstick from him, his eyes narrowing just a bit.” Well it’s a good thing it’s not for you, because I think it’s fine just the way it is!”
“Is that right? Why don’t you come over for dinner tonight then and Ill show you something better then that?”
Huh? Where was this coming from? When he thought about it, he didn’t have anything to do tonight. He had only been over one other time since the first time and he did miss his cooking. Though something about the treats he had been receiving oddly reminded him of Momijikawa delicious food.” Fine, I’ll come over. You owe me anyways for stealing one of my treats.”
“Is that right? I’ll make it up to you then.” There was that fond smile once more on his face. Sakura found that he liked when it was directed at him like this. He wanted to bask in it for a little while longer, but felt himself stiffen up when Momijikawa reached over to lightly brush some of his black strands out of his face.” I’ll see you later then, Haruka. Don’t be late getting back to class.”
All he could do was watch as Momijikawa turned to walk away, a little concerned his heart might have stopped beating there for a moment. The sound of something hitting the roof top was what finally brought him back once Momijikawa was gone. His eyes slowly moving down to find he had released the container in his hand, his precious treat now lying against the dirty roof.
“…God damn it, Momijikawa!”
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Sakura didnt know if he would ever fully get used to being welcomed into other peoples homes so warmly. The minute he got to Momijikawa’s house, the guy was ready to let him in with a warm smile and the delicious smell of food wafting out of the apartment.
That at least helped settle some of his nerves as he made his way inside, kicking his shoes off next to Momijikawa’s. Even though this was only his third time here, he was at least comfortable enough to make his way toward the kitchen without being prompted.” It smells amazing. You really sure you don’t want to be a chef?”
“I don’t know how many times I have to tell you, these are easy dishes. I could teach you how to make them they are that simple.” Momijikawa made his way towards the kitchen so he could get the food plated for them.
Sakura squinted at his back as he made his way over to the seat he usually sat in, flopping down with a huff. He noticed that the drinks were already set up, along with any sides or sauces they would need. Momijikawa didnt waste any time, huh?.” What’s that supposed to mean?”
“Just means that they are easy enough even a beginner like you wouldn’t have a hard time learning them.” Sakura wanted to believe him, but that damn amused tone of his made him question it.
The irritation he felt could barely stay a flame with how good the food smelt. He felt his eyes drift around the room, trying to keep himself from watching Momijikawa work around the kitchen. Everytime he came over and there wasn’t something for him to do, he found himself watching Momijikawa. It wasn’t his fault that watching the muscle in Momijikawa’s back work as he cooked or cleaned was distracting to him.
His eyes landed on some of the labels still around the room and found himself squinting at the writing. It looked really really familiar to him.
Something in him made him pull out the note he had in his pocket. Yeah he carried around one of the notes from his admirer, fight him over it.
Taking a glance between the writing on the note and the labels he could see, he felt his eyes widen to the point of almost hurting. The writing was the exact same, there was no denying it. Fuck, how did he not realize it from the food alone! It was just as good as Momijikawa’s! He knew it was familiar! Why does realizing this make his chest feel so light, like a pressure was taken off?
Maybe because he finally knew who it was and he actually wasn’t upset about it, as crazy as that sounds? He didnt know why though. Did he possibly like Momijikawa back? He didnt hate the idea, it actually brought a small smile to his face.
“Haruka, you good there?”
Dual colored eyes flickered up to Momijikawa, the taller boy standing next to the table with two plates in hand. Sakura quickly shoved the note into his pocket, nodding his head quickly. He knew his face had gone red, but there wasn’t anything he could do about it. He had to play it cool until he could leave.” I-Im fine. What did ya make?”
Momijikawa watched him closely, obviously not believing him before going to set the food down infront of him.” I wanted to show you how the marinade should have been for the Karaage you had this morning, so that’s what I made.”
Was he seriously trying to outdo his own cooking? What the hell was wrong with this guy? Sakura didn’t want to give away that he figured it out yet, so he tried acting nonchalant.” I thought you didnt want me to compare your cooking with other people?”
Momijikawa rolled his eyes as he went to take his seat, not even gracing him with a retort. Both of them gave their thanks before Sakura went to immediately grab a piece. Now that he had this knowledge, what did he do with it? Did he keep it to himself or did he say something to Momijikawa? As he ate the piece he felt his face brighten up. This was better than earlier. Maybe he had been onto something with the marinade.
“Ill take it this batch is better then that one from earlier?”
Sakura glanced over at Momijikawa’s smug face. He never was good at keeping his mouth shut, and something about that look on his friend’s face made him want to wipe it off. Shrugging his shoulders, Sakura picked up another piece and went to dip it.” Yeah, you really improved this time. Much better than the ones ya left.”
That got a different reaction out of his friend. Momijikawa’s face went a little pink as he tried to act like he was confused.” What do you mean? I didn’t-“
“Sure you did, I can tell now that I get your cooking twice in a day.” Sakura went to reach into his pocket so he could slide the note over to him.” Your hand writing is the same as whats on the note too.”
Momijikawa’s eyes flickered down to the note, several emotions flickering over his face before finally it settled on a small surprised smile.” You kept the note on you?..”
Wait, shit. Now he had to explain why he kept the note on him! The cooking could have been enough to explain it. Damn it, now he was the one blushing again.
“W-Well yeah.. I thought they were sweet.” Sakura sank down in his seat as he went to glance over to the side, trying to hunch his shoulders up to hide in his jacket.” W-Why did you make them anyways?”
“I know you can be a picky about some foods, especially if there might be vegetables, so I wanted you to know it was safe to eat. Plus you don’t know a bunch of different foods.” Momijikawa glanced down as he rubbed the back of his neck.” It’s not a big deal.”
Did he really put that much thought into doing this for him. Damn it.
Sakura went to snatch up another piece of Karaage before he went to let out a stubborn huff.” N-Next time just tell me out right.. Not that I mind the food, it was delicious.. I hate being confused though.”
He went to shove the bite into his mouth to try and save himself from talking more on this. Even when he felt like finally he had the upper hand on something, he still got all flustered bringing it up.
“Alright then. I like you, Haruka.”
Apparently Momijikawa wasn’t any better at timing, since now Sakura had accidentally swallowed the food in his mouth too soon. He found himself coughing from some of it going down the wrong hole. He didn’t even notice his friend quickly getting up or hitting his back since he thought he was choking.” Shit, Haruka! You okay?”
“Y-You asshole!..” Sakura quickly grabbed his drink to gulp some of it down before he fixed the taller boy with a glare. He knew his face was red not just from nearly choking, but also from hearing the other boy admit he liked him.” W-Wait till I don’t have food in my mouth to say stuff like that!”
Momijikawa kept his hands on his back, which Sakura couldnt help but become very aware of. It felt nice and comforting against his clothed back. God, he was going to die of embarrassment before he could even make it out of here.” You’re probably right about that. Ive been waiting a while to tell you so it just kind of came out there.”
Momijikawa wanted to tell him for a while? They hadnt know each other that long so when did this develop? Not like he could say anything considering his own weird feelings toward the other boy. Trying to get his brain to focus on the conversation at hand, Sakura tilted his head at the other boy.” Why did you wait though? And why go through all this trouble?”
He watched in amazement as Momijikawa’s face grew red, the hand on Sakura’s back leaving to instead rub at the back of his neck. His eyes shifted away from Sakura as his face scrunched up with conflicting feelings.” I had already made an ass out of myself the first time we met. It didn’t feel right for me to just out right confess, so I thought I would try this. I know how much you like food and I realized after the second time you came over that I really like feeding you. Just seemed like the right way to go about this.”
Sakura watched him closely, feeling just a bit bad for the guy. He could tell sometimes when they talk that Momijikawa still thought back to their first couple of times meeting, how he treated him then. Sakura hadn’t taken it personally at all, but it didnt seem like the other boy could let it go.
Did Sakura like him back though? With everything that he did know about crushes and romantic feelings, he was inclined to say he might. Momijikawa was kind, smart and strong. He cared so much about the town and protected it so fiercely, Sakura couldn’t help but admire him for it. For the most part he was a very straightforward guy and had no problem doing what he wanted. Hell, he decided all on his own that he would use Sakura’s first name!
Before he could ponder more on these feelings, he heard the other boy speaking up a bit, his usual confidence waning.” I get it if you dont feel the same.. I’ll knock it off with the treats if you want. I just wanted you to know that I-“
“I like you too!”
Both boys paused, Momijikawa staring wide eyed at Sakura while Sakura tried not to fling himself out of the chair. He couldn’t help it! He didn’t like that dejected look on the taller boys face, especially when he had the wrong idea! Now how did he proceed from here though?
Sakura went to shove his hands into his lap as he turned to face the other boy, his face contorted into a pout and the reddest it had been all night.” I-I like you too.. So don’t stop making the treats if you don’t want too! I’ll eat whatever you make me.” His eyes scrunched up tightly as he hung his head.” I-Im not good at all this emotional shit.. S-So just be patient with me..”
There was a moment of silence before he heard a relieved sigh leave the other boy. Mismatched eyes slowly opened before he looked up to see Momijikawa with a hand over his chest, a small relieved smile on his face.” You feel the same? Thats actually a big relief..”
Sakura let out a small scuff as he glanced to the side, grumbling under breath.” So uh.. does this make us.. boyfriends now?”
The snicker he received nearly had him hopping up out of his seat to yell at the other, but he stopped when he looked up and saw the wide grin Momijikawa was shooting his way. Wow, he really had a nice smile.” I think usually there would be a couple of dates done before hand, but I would be fine jumping straight into this if you are.”
If it was anyone else maybe he wouldn’t. Maybe he would want to test the waters first before he leapt into this. Something about Momijikawa made him trust him though.” I don’t mind… Let’s do it.”
A hand reached over to ruffle his hair, a toothy grin gracing Momijikawa’s face.” Alright then.. boyfriend. Let’s finish eating so the food doesn’t get cold.”
If the way Sakura’s face erupted into flames just from the simple gesture and the word boyfriend was anything to go off of, he knew he was so screwed. The mischievous glint that flashed through Momijikawa’s eyes also told him that he had sealed his fate here.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Sakura was a bit disappointed the next day when he came into class and found there was no treat waiting for him at his desk. It was only reasonable though, the secret was out so why would Momijikawa go through the extra trouble. Looks like it was back to the market for him during lunch.
It seemed his disappointment was pretty apparent as he sat down since Nirei was immediately at his side, offering him an uplifting smile.” Maybe whoever makes those treats isn’t feeling well today.”
He heard Suo let out an intrigued hum as he slid up next to the shorter blonde and felt his blood pressure already spiking. He has been doing well with keeping Suo from getting material to tease him with, he couldn’t slip up now.
Sakura went to shove his hands into his pockets as he gave a shrug, slumping down into his chair.” Im not worried about it.”
He was more so worried about what he was going to do for lunch now. They had been so frequent that he had stopped grabbing something in advance. He should have enough time to grab something if he ran to town later. It made him feel a little pathetic but he was going to miss the surprises.
Kiryu was the next to sit next to him, already pulling his phone out to pull up the list of ‘suspects’ they had left.” If we look around to see who is out sick maybe we can cross off some more names.” Sakura froze for a moment before he went to look over at Nirei, already spotting the curiosity brimming on his face.” Cross names off of what?”
Suo’s lone eye locked onto Sakura, a playful tone nearly sending him into a cold sweat.” Are we perhaps trying to figure out who has been leaving the delicious treats for our dear captain?”
Shit, now what? He did not want to lie to Nirei. Lying in general just didn’t feel right to him. Suo was already starting to sound like he was piecing shit together. Did he confess on what him and Kiryu had been up too? He hadn’t even told his pink haired friend the development yet!
Before he could send himself into a spiral over this, the door to the classroom swung open. All eyes turned, a few mutters floating about the room when Momijikawa stood there with what looked to be a bento in hand. The onslaught of eyes watching him didn’t seem to deter the taller boy as he made his way over to Sakura’s desk, a small smile gracing his face.” Hey Haruka, Im not interrupting anything am I?”
Sakura quickly shook his head, a bit grateful for the distraction from what Kiryu had said.” No, but what are you doing here?”
How naive he was to think his new boyfriend would actually come to offer him a reprieve from the situation he was in. The minute that cocky smirk made its way across his face, Sakura knew he was royally screwed.” I came to drop off your meal for the day.”
There was not a doubt in his mind that the others sitting around him could feel the heat pulsing off his face the minute all eyes turned to him. Everyone had been curious who was leaving the food, and now they had their answer. Why were they staring at him though?
Sakura let out an irritated huff before going to reach over to snatch the bento from Momijikawa, his eyebrow twitching from the chuckle it drew from him. He noticed there was a note tapped to the top, which nearly calmed him immediately. He was really going to keep doing this for him.” T-Thanks..”
He wanted to crack open the box to see what was inside, but Kiryu gluing himself to his side nearly had him jumping.” Oh Momi-Chan! Your Sakura-chans secret admirer?”
Mismatched eyes met Amber ones, the taller boy trying to see if he had permission to confirm or not. It would get out eventually, nothing stayed a secret in this damn town. Sakura’s grip on the bento tightened before he went to give him a quick nod. Maybe the teasing wouldn’t be so bad if they found out this early on?
Momijikawa gave him a little smile before he looked at the pink haired boy.” Im Haruka’s boyfriend actually.”
Sakura really didn’t know what he expected from Momijikawa, but he had hoped for maybe something a little less direct. Maybe just a yes to the questions! The loud gasps and shouts from around the room nearly had him dropping his food so he could cover his ears. Why did everyone have to be so dramatic?
It seemed his boyfriend had no intentions of staying behind to help him deal with the landslide of questions about to come his way. The bastard pulled his phone out like he was checking the time before he went to reach over to ruffle the top of Sakura’s hair.” I got to get back to class, I’ll see you tonight though. Good luck.”
Oh he could hear it in his tone that he was doing this on purpose. Whether it was to make a point or to mess with Sakura, all he accomplished was giving him the headache he knew he was going to get.
As soon as Momijikawa was walking out of the room and the door slid shut, the chaos broke out. Sakura had to keep a good grip on his bento box to keep from throwing it when he felt hands poking and prodding at him, a million questions being thrown his way. He was in his first relationship and it might end within a day if he gets his hands on the other boy.” G-God damn it, Momijikawa!”
