Chapter Text
In the inside, by the entrance of the royal castle of Aeridia:
"What do you mean 2 weeks!?"
"I'm sorry Katie but I've been mentioning this for a while now and I was about your age when I married your-"
"This isn't about you mum! This is MY life! And I've decided that I'm not marrying some stuck up Prince just because you can't be bothered enough to keep your stupid politics to yourself!!"
"Look, darling-"
"Don't you dare "darling" me! I'm just sick of it okay!? Sick and tired of having everyone controlling my life just because I was born as a stupid princess!
"Kathrine!"
"What!?"
The queen (Katie's mother, Audry) then lowered her voice into a calm, conversation type tone as to not wake up her sleeping husband.
"Being a princess is not stupid at all thank you very much. It is an honour to be born into a royal bloodline and you should feel privileged to be in this castle with all of these nice things just because you were born as a fortunate princess."
Katie just stood there and stared as her mother, with an expression that is a mix of anger, confusion and pure bafflement by what has just been said.
"Fortunate..? FORTUNATE!?"
"Dear please, your father is still sle-"
"WHAT ON EARTH DO YOU MEAN "FORTUNATE!?" I cannot name a SINGLE decision that has been completely my own! One that didn't benefit someone else somehow! A SINGLE decision that wasn't used in some prissy royal's favour somehow! And that makes me fortunate!?"
Her mother looked at her daughter, the future queen of Aeridia, the little girl who she had taught her entire life too appreciate everything for what it's worth, and was terrified. Not terrified of her or what she might do. No. Terrified for her.
Katie then angrily tried to leave through the large double door by where they had been arguing but her mother quickly grabbed her wrist lightly as to not hurt her daughter.
"I know you don't want to do this, and I really don't want to keep pressuring you...but-"
Her mother speaks in a calm tone but is cut of but her daughter, still speaking in an angry tone after learning she is to be wed to a complete stranger in only 2 weeks from that very day.
"But nothing, okay!? I'm not doing this! End. Of. Story."
Katie then yanked her wrist back aggressively, stomping out of the palace with her mother quickly shouting at her on the way out.
"Prince Sebastian will be round soon and I ask you to just meet him alright? Please..."
However her daughter didn't hear a word of it over the sound of her heels clicking against the concrete stairs leading to the front garden, which she promptly sat herself cross-legged on and started talking to herself, still with anger lingering in her tone.
"Just because she was married off to some wealthy prince doesn't mean I have to be, right!? Oh what am I even saying!? It's not like I get a choice, and besides, both of my sisters were arranged married far younger than me and they seem to be doing alright! Who says I can't be the same!?"
She then quickly plopped her head down on the perfectly green grass behind her and whispered one last phrase to herself.
"If anyone can hear me then please, please don't make me do this."
Little did she know that someone could hear her, and was willing to do exactly what she asked. Just, maybe not in the way she hoped...
