Chapter Text
The first thing you felt is water. You had no sense of direction, and it was so dark you couldn't see even a foot in front of you. You tried to move, but you couldn't tell which direction you were moving in. Your lungs started to burn. You felt lightheaded. You attempted to breathe, only for your lungs to fill with water. Ice cold water. Your struggled, trying as hard as you could to get to the surface, but it was as if an invisible weight was pulling on you. Your struggling slowly got weaker, until you were no longer conscious...
Suddenly you sat bolt upright, your shoulders heaved with the effort of gasping for breath. You shakily looked around, seeing you were in Toriel's house, you relaxed a little.
Another nightmare, you didn't know how many more you could take. You looked up at the ceiling, the paint was slightly faded, and was peeling off a little. You were sitting on the sofa. It was where you slept. No one other then Kris could see you, unless you willed it to be. They would also fase right through you if they walked too close. You shuddered, it was... an unpleasant feeling when that happened.
Sunlight was beginning to shine through the gaps in the blinds. Soon Kris would be awake. It was the day of the festival. You had been looking forward to it, as much as you could anyway. It wasn't like you would be able to participate. But it was something to look forward to nun the less.
You flinched as you heard a noise, only to realise it was just Toriel snoring in the arm chair across from you. The memories of last night came flooding back, and you couldn't help but feel resentment for the way Toriel had acted. It had seemed like Kris had felt the same way.
It was definitely morning now, in fact, it was actually quite late, at this rate Kris would be late to the festival. You got up and walked up the stairs to Kris's room. You doubted they would like you going in, but they would surely be upset if the missed the festival? You nocked at the door. No reply. You had suspected this would happen. You gently open the door and walk in. Kris is.. still asleep. You shake them, all be it a little more aggressively then you had intended. They jumped awake and backed up to the wall, they soon realise its just you and relax, but only a little.
"It's 9 o clock. Susie will be waiting for you by now."
Kris nods reluctantly and gets up.
Kris seemed annoyed that you had walked in on them while they were still alseep.
You shrug. "You would have been late other wise."
They ignored you and walked to the door. You followed behind, your footsteps silent. You watch them as they walk past Toriel. You don't really blame them, it must be hard, watching their parent act like she had last night. When they open the door, Susie is already waiting outside. She grins upon seeing them.
"What took you so long? I thought you'd never get up?"
Kris tried to answer, only to remember you were possessing them. You can't help but notice the way they glare at you a little. It... frustrated you to say the least. Couldn't they just understand that you didn't want this either?
Susie seems to realise Kris isn't going to reply, so she turns and start walking.
"What do you want to do first? Once we meet with Noelle of course!" Susie asked excitedly.
"I'm not sure yet." You said, well Kris said technically. You just made them say it.
"Well, we have all day to decide, come on!"
Susie races ahead, you have to jog to catch up with her.
You end up zoning out for alot of the festival, you have to admit, it wasn't quite as.. fun as you'd been hoping. The again, you couldn't participate in anything, so it made sense. You looked up. The sun was beginning to dip behind the horizon, the sky turned a pale pink. The clouds looked like the cotton candy you had seen people eating.
Susie and Noelle walked ahead of you, and you could see they were happily taking to each other, voices light and relaxed. You glanced at Kris, they didn't seem particularly happy. For a while you had somewhat suspected Kris had a thing for Susie, although you hadn't been certain, this did make you a bit more sure of your suspicions. They sat down on a park bench. You couldn't help but move a little closer to where Noelle and Susie were talking.
"Oh French fry on the floor.. it's.. you that I adore.. so salty and um.." Noelle trailed off uncertainty. Susie laughed,"hey, you could be like.. a pro music guy or something!"
Noelle blushed a little. "I don't do much singing..."
"Even so, it's.." a soft blush appeard on Susies cheeks and she looked down. "It's nice hearing you sing.."
You couldnt help but agree, Noelle's voice was nice to listen to, although the lyrics were a little strange.
"Uhh, thanks Susie,"said Noelle. She smiled. The two of them continued to talk, reminiscing on the day they had had together. You jumped a little as Noelle's phone rang, she hastily picked it up.
"OH not now mum! I.. guess I can't just not answer it right..?" Noelle sighed. "She's probably going to ask if i'm with you." She looked sadly at susie, clearly not wanting her time with her to end.
"Unless..." Susie began, a smirk beginning to form on her face, "you lost it again?" She suddenly snatched the phone from Noelle's hands and through it away. It landed on the sandy shore of the lake.
"Well! That's! Convincing..!" Noelle looked surprised, to say the least. "I didn't.. um.. hurt your phone though, right?" Susie sounded guilty. "I guess we should go check".
The two of them walked towards the lake. Eventually they were out of earshot. You would have like to follow, but you supposed you had eves dropped enough already. This was meant to be between just the two of them. You looked at Kris. They were face down on the table. Your prodded them.
"Are you... ok..?"
They slowly sat up, their face was covered in makes from the table. You had to fight to hold back a laugh. They looked around. "Where did susie and noelle go?" They signed.
You gestured to the lake. Kris let out a sigh, and went back to resting their head on the table.
"Hey, i-i know you.. maybe.. hoped that susie would-" you were interrupted with Kris angrily signing something. "No! You don't know! You don't know what its like in my shoes at all! Just because your possessing me doesn't give you the right to act like you know me! To act like we're friends!"
You flinched as if you had been hit. "Im sorry, I didn't mean to-"
"I'm not done yet! All this time you act like we're friends, like I want this, but all I want is for you to leave, to stop controlling me to just.. to just stop..."
"..."
"Do you think i want this?" Kris looked up at you. It seemed like they hadn't expected you to keep talking after that.
"Do you think i control you for fun? That i get some sick enjoyment out of it? Do you think its fun being stuck here with someone like.. like you. "
"I dont even know how the Prophecy ends because no one will tell me anything!" Your voice is eerily calm. "Well guess what? You want me to leave? Fine! I will! Lets see how you get on with no one to seal the fountains!"
You turn and leave, Kris tried to tell you to wait, but you had already gone.

You ran away from the lake, your shoulders heaving. You bit your lip, trying not to cry. What had you done..? It made sense Kris was upset... they had basically been third wheeling the whole day. Then again, that didn't give them an excuse to act like that. You kept walking, although you slowed down as you past Asgore's flower shop. The sun was setting, and soon it would be dark. You looked at the shop, planning to look at the flowers through the windows.
But they were pitch black.
You realised, with a cold feeling in your stomach, that this was a dark world. And Kris's dad was in there. Still feeling a little bad about earlier, you walked to the door and took a deep breath. You pulled it open with minimal effort and were almost immediately pulled in by some kind of force. You felt yourself falling and falling, for a minute you thought it would never end, but then the ground appeared and you gad to flap your wings to make sure you didnt get hurt.
You looked around, you were sitting on a patch of grass, the colour was a deep green. You couldn't help but get a strange sense of deja vu, like you had been somewhere like this before, a very long time ago. A patch of light was dappled across the grass and you could see many plants surrounding you, though the details were hard to make out in such darkness. You couldnt see any kind of sky above you, only more leaves and vines.
You stood up, shaking your self off. You stretched your wings to their full length. As much as you would like to fly, it was best to lay low until you new how dangerous the darkners were around here. You began walking foward.
It was nice, you thought, to finally be away from everyone.
