Chapter Text
It's nothing short of a miracle that Joshua took a blast of lightning square to the chest and got back up. Artur's blood ran cold at the sight as one half of his brain scrambled for excuses on why he killed someone during training and the other told him to run as fast as he could to get a cleric.
But he does, dragging himself to his feet and downing a vulnerary as if it didn't hurt. "Let's try that again." He's a monster of a man and Artur doesn't know who's in more danger anymore.
Again and again, he casts as the edges of his tome begin to burn and fray. Pure light, concentrated into violent force, tears across the open field, and Joshua is struck several times. Sweat drips down his jaw but he's fixated on dodging it better. The idea someone could train to be faster than light seemed laughable hours ago during the coin flip. It only ends when Artur finds himself holding the ashes of a tome.
Joshua pats his shoulder a few times as he tries to catch his breath. "Yeah."
And he just walks off, towards the main camp.
Well, more like stumbles.
