jim and spock were watching the tv in the living room. they sat next to each other on their couch, with a remote placed in between them. they had nothing better to do and they decided they should just watch something.
jim took the remote, trying to find something he wants to watch. he finds whatever's on the screen right now to be uninteresting. however, spock found it quite fascinating and was actually trying to watch it.
jim found something he liked and placed the remote back down. spock grabbed the remote controller, changing the channel back to what he was interested in. jim turned to look at spock as the vulcan kept his eyes on the screen. the channel was switched again as jim snatched the remote.
the remote was placed back down between them. there was a short pause until spock reached over to grab the remote. this time, jim wasn't going to wait. he was going to snatch the remote before spock could so that he could watch what he wanted.
however, when he placed his hand down, he felt a quick shock. spock had felt it too. their fingers had accidentally touched. they had shared an unusual, unexpected feeling.
jim yanked his hand away, rubbing his fingers where he felt the spark. spock had pulled away as well, placing his hands on his lap. jim slowly looked up at spock to see his reaction and...
spock's heavy-lidded eyes seemed to sparkle in the warm light. his naturally stoic face felt more ethereal than usual. there was a slight flush of green on the vulcan's cheeks that jim was drawn to. it made his own cheeks flush red.
jim noticed he was staring and quickly turned away. what was that? what just happened? what did they just share?
at first, jim tries to dismiss it as static electricity. that feeling was just some boring old electricity that he should think too hard about, but he couldn't stop thinking about it. there has to be something more... this has to be something more...
his heart beats harder in his chest. he doesn't dare look at spock's face again, now staring at the screen even though it isn't the channel he wanted. he'll take some more time to think about what he experienced.
spock didn't look at jim either, also staring at the screen. this maybe be the channel he picked but he is barely paying attention to what is playing on the tv. he is also busy thinking about the feeling he and jim shared.
in fact, the touch they had shared was intentional. spock knew it was only logical for jim to try to snatch the remote away. he knew jim enough to predict his actions. so by keeping his hand on the remote as jim tried to snatch it, their fingers certainly would touch.
jim is very comfortable putting his hands on spock without thinking about it. at this point, spock is comfortable with it too. spock enjoys it, but could never tell jim out loud. by touching fingers, he could possibly share some of those feelings he has. it seems it worked.
spock is satisfied and jim is flustered. they both stare at the tv.
