Work Text:
The moon's glow illuminated the bustling city of Seoul. Around a dozen boys tossed and turned, with sore backs and aching throats. They had just finished another day of rigorous practice and tried their best to sleep before the sun woke up again.
Felix lay motionless on his top bunk, exhausted from all the excersise. But what tired him out wasn't his hours upon hours of dance. It wasn't even his vocal practice. It was his Korean. Three textbooks, all stacked neatly on top of eachother, were placed on a nearby table. A pen, two pencils (both with broken tips) and a few sticky notes decorated its surroundings.
Thunder roared and growled as he tried to poke his head out for air.
BOOM! CLAP!
The waves kept crashing in, water flowed into his gaping mouth. Lighting struck with such bravery, Felix wondered if storms feared anyone at all. His arms reached out, gripping onto something afloat. He rubbed his eyes after he gained balance on the sun lounger that floated in from land.
Guess surfing saves lives.
He caught a wave, a big one for that matter. He swam like it was a matter of life-or-death. Because it was. Within a split second, he was back on land, facing the rising sea.
Wait. Wait! Who's that in the water? Is that...that's his sister! His sister! Oh no! No, no!
He rushed back into the sea, yet he couldn't. There was something stopping him. A force of some sort that kept him from re-entering the loud ocean.
Oh c'mon! Where is she? Where is she?! Where is his sister?! There she is. But that's only her arms! She can't swim as well as he can. He needs to go in. He needs to-
Felix's sweating body shot up with terror. His eyes opened wide and started overflowing with tears. His small fingers gripped onto his blanket and he brought it up to his face, in hopes to silence his panicked cries. Yet, they were of no avail. His trembling body combined with his drained mind only meant one thing - he needed to be held.
Sure, it might be impish, but he accepted himself like this. A few hugs, a couple cheek kisses, intertwined fingers, all sounded perfect to him. His bare feet climbed down the slippery metal ladder of the bunk-bed.
Minho was quite a light sleeper. Even though he was weary, the sound of his dongsaeng's sniffles were enough pop his eyes open.
"Hm?" Minho sounded, confused.
"Minho-hyung?" The younger asked, standing near his hyung's bed.
"Lix? What's wrong?"
"I..uh..."
Ah crap. What's nightmare in Korean?
"I..uh..saw scary...things...I was asleep."
"You had a nightmare?"
"Y-yeah."
"C'mere." Minho welcomed in a low, groggy voice.
He moved closer to the cold wall and opened up his blanket. Felix lied down facing the bottom of the bunk above him. Occasional hiccups and sniffles escaped him, despite his best interests.
"Sshhh, Lix." Minho stretched out his arm and wrapped it around Felix's shoulders, pulling him into his own chest "Just sleep."
Minho avoided using polished language when he was talking to the younger. He knew that Felix still needed to get better at Korean, but that doesn't mean he needs to be miserable, unable to understand his peers.
"Sorry I woke you up."
"No, no, Lix."
Felix purred lightly as he breathed in the comforting scent of his hyung. His arms wrapped around the older's stomach, clutching onto the fabric. His tears were now on Minho's shirt as well.
"What did you see?"
"Huh?"
"What see?"
"Uhh..." Felix did want to explain the entire nightmare. He wanted to describe every scary aspect so his hyung could pinpoint each one and tell him that none of it was real. But he didn't know how to yet. "I saw my sister...die."
Minho let out a soft sigh as he caressed the younger's soft hair, his best attempts to soothe the gloomy Australian. He soon felt Felix's breathing even out on his chest. Only then did he calm down. Only then did he close his droopy eyes to continue his sleep.
You'll do well, Lix-ah. Don't worry. Get some rest.
