Chapter Text
The sunlight peeking through her window seems to tell her it's finally time to start the day.
Well, she's been awake since midnight, with adrenaline still pumping in her. What can she say? She can't sleep after that. Her adventure with Red was extraordinary. She's never felt alive like that, and going through time.. she's speechless. And after her and Red fixed everything, she feels as if everything is perfect now. Both their moms are okay now, and she couldn't be happier.
Chloe sighs happily as she gets out of bed. Her room is the same, baby blue laced with gold, just how she liked it.
After, she gets dressed. Although, this is a bit different, her closet is full of skirts, sparkles and very much not the trousers she'd usually go for.
"Well," She says to herself. "I guess some things are different,"
Everything looks the same, and as she makes her way towards their dining room, she makes sure to keep an eye out for an indifferences.
And her mom is there, she looks the same!
"Mom," She says, a little emotional. (Red would definitely make fun of her for this.)
Her mom turns around and smiles sweetly at her. "Oh, good morning, Chloe!" She smiles back at her, and wow, Chloe can't believe how happy she is.
"Good morning, mom." She says.
Her mom gestures towards the dining table. "Sit down, you have a big day ahead of you!"
Chloe sits, and before she can say anything , her mom pulls out a checklist. Huh, she's never done that before. It was usually, well, Chloe with the checklist.
"You know, when I was your age, all i ever wanted was to be a princess." Her mom says. And wow, that's definitely new.. "someone flawless , and perfect"
Ah, that is definitely new.
It catches her by surprise. Chloe then nods, unsure what to do or say next. Her mom never thought that way, and after seeing her as a teenager, she understood it back then. But this new version of her is-
"So! Your list to success is here! First, fencing at two, then.."
She nods along, a little excessive, Red would say, but she didn't expect this.
It felt like they've changed places. Her mother, now with a new childhood dream of becoming this perfect princess, and her, never wishing for that.
But, as the optimistic girl she is, she lets it continue, sure , her mom is a little stricter now, but she can handle that. It's fine. Totally fine.
She's in the carriage heading for school when her mom finds a spot beside her, and she keeps looking at her weird. Okay, that's all good. Nothing wrong with that.
When they make it to the school, her mother stops her before she can even get out, grabbing her arm, Chloe turns to meet her moms worrried expressions.
"It's a new school year and I want this to be perfect for you, you know that, right?" Her mom says softly.
That.. isn't actually new, so she smiles back at her mom. "Yeah, mom. Of course."
"Good." Her mom nods, then, unexpectedly, she says. "I really don't like you around those VKs, especially that Hook one."
Chloe pauses. Back before this, she never hung around them. Especially not Hazel Hook, if that's who she's talking about. But, sure, she was nice to them, as any HK was, but that was normal for her.
"Sure, Mom.." Chloe says.
Her mom beams at her. "Have a good day, honey. Remember what I said, okay?"
Chloe nods, yep, don't talk to any VKs, whatever, she'll be a little rebellious today.
If it's possible, it gets weirder, as she spots Red, she informs her that she has a new sister, dressed head to toe in pink.
And Luis Madrigal and Robbie Hood follow along the two, going on and on about them being practically two perfect princesses. And as they ramble on, it dies down as Robbie scrunches his nose and gestures towards a group ahead of them. "Look what the cat brought in,"
They all look, and suddenly Reds sister, Pink, shows up again behind them.
"Oh, it's your crew, Chloe." Luis says nonchalantly. And, did she hear that correctly? Her and Red share a confused glance as Red mouths. "Crew?"
Chloe gulps, suddenly anxious again. Red recognizes one of them, Max Hatter. But, they pay no mind to it.
As they make way to their class, Red gets Chloe alone, finally slipping away from the boys and Pink.
Red looks at her, with an anxious look that makes her a little nervous too. Red looking at her like that isn't good.
Red curses. "What have we done?"
Chloe looks at her wide eyed and says. "You tell me! My mothers basically stricter than ever and, you, well,"
"I have a sister now." Red finished for her. She looks down, frowning. "This is too much, I feel like we messed something up, big time, do you think?"
Chloe hesitated. Her mother is a little stricter now, but other than that, No, it seems alright. Her mother is safe, and Red, hers is finally good. Sure, the whole new sister thing is definitely new, but Red can handle that. She can handle anything.
"Well, no," She tells Red. "We just need time to think about this, it's new, and overwhelming of course. But we got this! Even if somethings wrong, we'll figure it out, we always do."
Chloe moves close to Red, and holds her hand. Red looks down and smiles back at her.
"We'll figure it out together,"
Chloe smiles at her best friend.
