Normal Kind of Love

Summary:

Takumi has never felt this way about another girl, but there's no way Hiruko feels the same way as her, right?

Work Text:

I never expected to fall in love with Hiruko, or any girl for that matter.

I always thought that one day I’d find a boyfriend and husband. I didn’t think there was even another option for me. I mean I’m just a normal girl, right? Or… at least I was.

I mean I always liked boys so I just had to be straight, right?

But I… I love Hiruko.

I love her voice, I love her hair, I love her eyes, I love the way she holds me, I love the way she comforts me, I love how strong she is, I love how safe I feel when I’m around her, and I love the soft, comforting scent of lavender that fills my lungs whenever she’s near.

I thought it was just platonic at first, like how I felt about Karua. Just a close friend who I loved like a friend.

But it wasn’t like that, it’s wasn’t a… normal kind of love.

I don’t want to just be her friend, I want more.

As she held me in her arms I felt my body relax despite my heartache. I needed her to know how I feel.

But I was scared, I was scared she’d hate me for this, and I was scared she’d think I’m some kind of freak.

But I… I didn’t want to betray her trust and hide this from her either.

It took everything I had to not push that desire down and just enjoy that brief, stolen joy, but I did.

“Hiruko I… I love you.”

I closed my eyes, trying to brace myself for rejection, or hatred, of disgust… I was trying to prepare myself for losing the only source of comfort I still had. I thought I would soon have to say goodbye to the woman who I loved more than anything.

But instead, her grip only tightened.

“I love you too, Takumi.” She whispered, her voice soft, loving, and genuine…

I thought for a second that I was daydreaming, but the scent of lavender was still with me, still holding me up.

“Y-You do…? Y-You…”

Hiruko pulled away and lightly lifted my chin. Her soft, loving smile was illuminated by the moonlight, she looked beautiful.

Hiruko opened her mouth for just a second, as if stopping herself before she spoke.

She leaned in close, my mind still much of a flustered mess to realize what she was about to do.

Before I could react, Hiruko kissed me, and it was… nice… so so nice…

I never thought I could do this, I never thought I could be this happy after everything I’ve lost. The kiss was long and tender, yet it was almost shy. She didn’t want to scare me off just yet.

I wanted to stay like that forever with her. And I felt too happy to even care about what this meant for me, or for us.

I wrapped my arms as tight as I could, her lips locked against mine as she cradled my face in her hands. It all felt so natural and right, like we were always meant to be together.
