Work Text:
What is there to ask of the light?
To provide a path?
I carry the blade and the burden;
the testaments to my sins.
Exiled, a vagabond, an angel from
the Garden of Eden.
To save you, with all the love in my heart,
I sacrificed myself and took the fall.
I’ve lost my way back home, where can I go?
Where will these weary feet of
mine lead me to today?
Yearning for yesterday, wandering
beneath the morning moon through a
world ravaged by sorrow and pain.
I can’t stop these mournful tears,
a warm summer rain.
I can’t wash away the past and blood
from these sinful hands.
Cold wings of indigo guide me forward
as I’m calling out to you.
I’m calling out to you.
What is there to ask of the dark?
To provide a truth?
I know what lies ahead of me is a
lifetime of heartache.
I let go of your hand once and I can
never hold it again.
Raveled in loneliness, that abyss of pain,
I clutch to my chest your ring of jasper and gold.
There is no way back home, I’m on my own.
Where will these weary feet of
mine lead me to today?
Wondering what could have been, hoping
for the day that I can rest in a world that is
willing to forgive.
Please, please don’t leave me here,
let me come home.
Cold wings of indigo can’t carry this
weight forever.
With no redemption, cast out of Paradise,
I’m crying out to you.
I’m crying out to you.
