Allegiances
(An Long) Blacksky: A muscular, sleek black tom with dark blue eyes
(Song Qingshi) Stonesong: Fluffy gray cat on the smaller side, with notably rounder ears and clear gray-blue eyes
(Yue Wuhuan) Featherpaw: Dark ginger and white tom with amber eyes, tufted ears, and a long, almost plume-like tail
(Xiao Bai) Whitekit: White male kitten with pale, almost pinkish eyes. Sibling to Mousekit & Cloverkit
*Cranestar mostly just named drop to imply they have a leader, his closest counterpart would be the heavenly emperor lmao.
Glossary of Terms
Clan: A clan of cats living in a shared territory with similar culture and beliefs. These groups all follow one leader, with a deputy who is second-in-charge and set to inherit leadership. Receive care from a medicine cat & their apprentice. And are made up by an assortment of warriors/hunters & their apprentices that defend their home from enemy clans and outsiders.
(Clan) Camp: The “home base” of a clan, usually with amble bushes/low-laying trees or shallow, dry caves to sleep in.
Nest: Soft bedding for sleeping usually made of various moss, stray feathers from prey, grasses, etc. But y’know, for cats.
Tom/tomcat: Another term for a male cat
(Molly could be used for female cat, but doesn’t appear often in the books)
Queen: Term for a pregnant/nursing mother. They often stay in the clan’s nursery while expecting/rearing kits
Suffix “-star”: denotes the clan leader; a cat who leads the clan after approval by the heavens, upon which they’re gifted 9 lives by deceased friends or relatives, former clanmates, or even mythical figures of years past.
Suffix “-paw”: denotes an apprentice in training. After completing a competency test, they’re given a warrior name that replaces the “-paw” suffix. Ex. Stonepaw —> Stonesong
Suffix “-kit”: denotes a cat younger than six months old, still a kitten and too young to become an apprentice.
Moon(s): Basically equal to a month or so. Many seasons is used for years, I think. But they still use days normally lol.
Newleaf: Warrior Cat speech for Spring.
Greenleaf: Warrior Cat speech for Summer.
Leaf-fall: Warrior Cat speech for Autumn/Fall.
Leaf-bare: Warrior Cat speech for Winter.
Greencough: A contagious respiratory disease that can occur during the colder months. The most reliable cure, Catmint, is usually at the end of its growth cycle in fall…meaning if a greencough outbreak happens later, clans are often in short supply.
