Work Text:

It’s been stated and proven many times that Spain was a nation who knew how to handle his booze well—well, except this time he went way over his limit

“¡Oye! Vamos mish’ chachos!” slurred Spanish tumbled from Antonio’s mouth, his arms motioning towards the dance floor. Earlier, Antonio had danced with many men and women to the point that the soles of his black leather shoes were probably worn out. The query on how his shoes were still in alright condition for his frequent frolicking tumbling in João's head—

THUMP

Well that would be a question for another time. A certain drunk brunet haired fellow had plonked onto the chair next to João. “Perdón, uno más, por faf’vore..” arm outstretched as if to ask for another drink.“Espanha, come on we’re done.” Portugal’s head felt like bricks. “Aye, not yet! I was going to eat Turkïye’s food! And then France’s —”

What he heard was all static, his drowsiness threatening to let him doze off. He really didn't have the energy for this.“Escargots!—” he tried to finish his sentence before João put his hands on Antonio’s sides, threw him over his right shoulder and speed-walked to his car.

Antonio dozed off on his shoulder and didn't even stir once when João hauled him into the car.

——

Once they arrived home, Portugal heaved Spain onto the sofa. Then fetched a blanket and sacrificed one of his least favourite pillow for him. Then covering Spain with said blanket plus a pillow Portugal forced under his head.

Of course, Portugal didn't have the motivation to change clothes, slid into bed, pulled the covers and shut his eyes. Yet sleep never came.

CREEAK. The door to his room opened, along with a set of thumps coming towards his bed. The right side of the bed dipped and a slide of a blanket that wasn't his was tossed onto the bed. His arms wrapped around João, pulling him closer to Antonio’s chest.

“O que é que estás a fazer, Tonho?!”

A soft, gentle hum could be heard behind him, which transformed into a comforting song.”Ó papão, vai-te daí” Antonio patted his back in a rhythmic tempo.”De cima desse telhado,” his eyelids felt heavy. How embarrassing, to be put to sleep just by one lullaby. João’s eyes close in defeat.“Deixa dormir o menino, um soninho descansado.” and with that, the two Iberian boys slept their Z’s. The morning will come to find them soon enough. Boa noite, Antonio. Buenas noches, João.

Notes:

Ó papão, vai-te daí
De cima desse telhado,
Deixa dormir o menino
Um soninho descansado

Oh Bogeyman, go away,
Get down from that roof,
Let the little boy sleep
A peaceful, restful sleep!
