Chapter Text
Anthony was always stressed, considering he had a family of 7 it’s kind of normal to be stressed out. Anthony had 2 older sisters named Jane and Priscilla and a younger sister and a younger brother named Jonathan and Lisa. Sometimes when anthony was stressed out he would go to his secret place. He would study and read and do whatever he needed to do at an abandoned house.
Anthony was listening to music on his walkman while riding his bike in the woods because his dad ordered him to get firewood when he stumbled upon a disheveled wooden cabin. He decided to go into the house and while he was inside he kicked all the papers and pills out of the door with his shoe and sat on a chair. Anthony had decided then and there that it was now his 2nd home to go to whenever he had homework or even just needed alone time.
It was a Monday morning and he had to take his younger siblings to school. He dropped them off at Mountain Trail Elementary while he went to Wallace high-school. Anthony lived in a small town called Wallace, only had a population of 236. it was so small that almost everyone knew each other. he was a popular football player and had many friends. he had so many girls all over him but he didn’t care about them or their big hair. he had his eye on a skinny boy named Coy Piso. Of course Anthony didn’t like him. After all hee was christian and that’d be a terrible sin, but Anthony just liked looking at him. When he got to school he went to Mr. Andersons english class.
“Ok, ok, settle down everyone. I understand that nobody wants to be here today but it’s time for our monthly change in the seating chart.”
Every month, they would get a new partner to sit with. Anthony was hoping to get his best friend, Will Wahony but was secretly hoping to get coy.
“Ok Coy… Coy, Coy, Coy, where should I put you. go ahead and sit next to Anthony Potero.”
Coy rolled his eyes, he thought Anthony was just another homophobic jock like all the other boys. When Coy came out to his mom at the lake some homophobic boy heard and told his friend and Coy’s business got all around town. Coy’s mother supported him, she was always a more kind person than his father. His father was a drunk and whenever he was mad he would take it out on Coy.
When Coy and Hanbon became friends in 8th grade, Hanbon wasn’t popular, now she was but she still made time for Coy. Coy didn’t really mind how he didn’t get to sit with her at lunch anymore, or that he couldn’t see her every day like old times. On one of those days she and Coy were having a sleepover when they decided to sneak out to the woods to do some scary challenge.
Anthony was at his 2nd house, reading The Shining, by Stephen King, when he heard muffled giggling and leaves being crunched. He immediately stop reading and grabbed the baseball bat next to him.
“Shut up coy you’re gonna get us killed!!” Hanbon whisper shouted to coy
“ I’m sorryyyy it’s just so funny seeing you this scared!” Coy giggled.
“ Holy moly Coy.” Hanbon pointed to the cabin.
“ Oh my Gosh… We have to go inside!” Coy exclaimed excitedly.
“I’m scared though.” -Hanbon
“Just follow my lead.” -Coy
Coy steps closer to the house and slowly creeks open the door. Anthony was standing behind the door with a bat in his hands, but Coy didn’t know that. Coy takes a step in the cold house with hanbon behind him and looks around.
“FREEZE!!!” Anthony shouted aggressively.
“AHHHHHHHH!!!” Hanbon and Coy screamed in unison.
“WHAT THE HELL?!?” Anthony shouted as he put down his bat.
“Anthony? What are you doing here?” Hanbon yelled out of breath.
“Coy?” -Anthony
“What do you want Anthony?” Coy mumbled annoyed.
“Excuse me? Aren’t you the one who broke into MY 2nd house.” Anthony stated assertively.
Coy rolled his eyes, “Lets just go Bon, I don’t really wanna get jumped by the whole football team.
“Um actually first of all, I don’t even like the people on my team so I would never hangout with them and secondly maybe we could even be friends, you never know.”
“I would rather not be friends with a homophobic jock like you.” -Coy
Coy and Hanbon started to jog off together holding hands and giggling.
“IM NOT HOMOPHOBIC, COY!” Anthony screamed. His heart was racing really fast, half because of the scare, and half because of Coy.
It was Saturday morning and Anthony and his best friend Will went to the arcade. Anthony was playing the basketball game and will was rooting him on when they saw Coy. “There’s that weird gay kid, Coy Piso.” Will whispered into Anthony’s ear. Anthony looked at Will with his eyebrows furrowed, “Shut the hell up dude, he’s actually not weird.” Anthony whisper shouted. He didn’t even know Coy but something in him wanted to know him. He wanted to know what Coy wore to school, how Coy decorated his room, and so many other things. Anthony ran up to him to ask him a question. “Hey Coy, can we talk?” Anthony asked with a slight smile on his face. Coy sighed,“Yeah, sure I guess.” “Ok so about last night, I feel really bad that I had a baseball bat up to your head so… to apologize I am inviting you to a party!” Anthony smiled awkwardly waiting for the younger boy’s answer. “Anthony, that’s really sweet of you, but wouldn’t people like think we’re dating, or something?” “I mean, yeah, maybe but who cares. I’ll be at your house at 11 tonight.” Anthony said that reassuringly. Almost to reassuring. Coy blushed at that. He tried to hide his face but Anthony saw it. Something in Anthony spiked when he saw him blushing, he tried to ignore it but just couldn’t. Anthony was so confused that he almost thought he liked Coy for a sec, that was just a thought though, right?
